There’s a lot at stake for many teams as pucks drop across the NHL tonight.
The well-rested Washington Capitals visit the Toronto Maple Leafs. While Alexander the Great & the Caps are tied for 1st seed with the Flyers (103 points), the Leafs desperately claw towards gaining a playoff birth. Obviously, both teams have their eyes on the prize.
As little as a month ago, one might assume the Philadelphia Flyers would easily walk over the lowly Ottawa Senators for two points. However, in the most recent meeting between the teams, Ottawa won 4-1. The Broad Street Bullies haven’t looked like they can battle their way out of a paper bag as of late, but if you total the scores vs. Ottawa (3 games) this season, Flys lead 11-3.
It’s anyone’s guess what team shows up in this one, but if the Flyers don’t wake up tonight, I predict they’ll fall out of the #1 spot in the East & find themselves watching the second round of playoffs on TV.
NHL.com staff writer, Brian Compton provides a great breakdown of the implications when the final horn sounds around the league tonight.
