IN SOLITUDE Premiere New Single

Head over to the Deciblog to check out the new single “Pallid Hands” from Swedish classic heavy metal band, In Solitude. The band’s new album Sister is dropping in North America on 10/01 and will be available to fans digitally, on CD, and 180gram black vinyl. Fans can check out the first single and title track “Sister” at MetalBlade.com/InSolitude.

Fans can also pick up the upcoming issue of Decibel Magazine, November issue #109 – out October 3, which features In Solitude on the cover which was shot by internationally-renowned metal and rock photographer Ester Segarra in Sweden. If you aren’t already a subscriber you can check your local bookstore or order from Decibel directly at the following location.

“Sister” was recorded at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden during March 2013. The album was produced and mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona and stands as a logical next step above and beyond its predecessor, “The World. The Flesh. The Devil.” In Solitude’s strength resides in their ability to craft dark and oppressive atmospheres within the auditory realm of classic heavy metal. “Sister” compounds this trademark sound further, beginning with the acoustic intro, “He Comes,” and saturates the record in an aura of uniqueness; see: “Lavender” and the title track.

The album concludes with an 8-minute, driving, near trance-like opus that features guest guitarist Pelle Forsberg (Watain). Additionally, Jarboe of Swans fame can be heard on “Horses in the Ground.” Moods range from Mercyful Fate-esque guitar flavors, shadows of Black Sabbath, the heavy dissonance of Swans, to straightforward, earworm riffs. In any case, one thing can be said for certain: their delivery is as genuine as it is impressive.

North American fans will have an opportunity to see In Solitude live this Fall. The band will be supporting Watain on their “Wild Hunt” tour beginning on October 8th in New York City. The tour also features support from Tribulation. Dates can be found below, as well as on facebook.com/insolitudeofficial.

IN SOLITUDE Confirm Fall Tour With WATAIN

In Solitude will be returning to North America this Fall with Watain and Tribulation! This will be In Solitude’s first North American tour since the Decibel Magazine tour in 2012, which also happened to feature Watain. The tour, which runs from October 8 through November 3, will be in support of the upcoming album, “Sister. The album is set for release to coincide with the dates and In Solitude fans will be able to find new music streaming at metalblade.com/insolitude within the next few weeks. Updates, including new music, album art, and pre-order bundles, will be posted as they are made available.

In Solitude vocalist Pelle Ahman comments:

“We are tremendously enthusiastic to announce that In Solitude are coming back to America and Canada in October. We are especially delighted to do this in the company of our great companions of Watain and Tribulation. It is our great pleasure to take part in this grand malady. We can’t wait to arrive and let it steal another sky from our eyes. See you in October.”

Watain comments:

“Starting the first full tour for ‘The Wild Hunt‘ in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness… A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very, very hungry. Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that has the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of WATAIN.”

In Solitude’s previous album, “The World. The Flesh. The Devil stands as one of the most critically acclaimed releases of 2011. Decibel Magazine ranked the album at #4 on its top 40 extreme albums of 2011. Fans can watch the music video for “To Her Darkness” from “The World. The Flesh. The Devil” on YouTube HERE.

“It is rare to hear heavy metal music crafted with such emotion, focus, passion and sincerity” - Terrorizer

RAM Present Brand New Video Clip

Swedish heavy metal act RAM recently shot a video for the song I Am The End from their latest release, Death. Metal Blade Records partnered with Revolver Magazine to premiere the video in North America. Click HERE to watch the new video now at revolvermag.com.

10th anniversary show in Gothenburg announced!

I Am The End was directed by Martin Högdal, edited by Leonard Palmestål and written by Oscar Carlquist – the same team that worked on the Flame Of The Tyrants video. The song was written by Harry Granroth and Oscar Carlquist.

Oscar Carlquist comments on the video:

“The I Am The End video shows a completely different side of the cinematic vision of RAM than what we created in the Flame Of The Tyrants video. This video displays a lot of esoteric aspects, and has many layers of symbolism that will not be seen at once. We thank everybody involved for their outstanding dedication to making flesh out of our disturbed visions.”

Fans can order Death and watch the video for Flames Of The Tyrants at metalblade.com/ram

In other news Daniel Johansson - guitarist and one of the founding members – has decided to leave the band. The departure was amicable and a replacement for Daniel has already been found. RAM are very happy and proud to welcome former RAM session guitarist Martin Jonsson as a fulltime member.

2013 marks the 10 year anniversary since RAM released their first release: the Sudden Impact EP. This will be celebrated on Friday, September 13. A concert has been booked in Gothenburg at the venue Sticky Fingers (Top Floor). The show will also feature special guests PORTRAIT and TRIAL. RAM’s performance will be filmed.

The Sudden Impact EP will be rereleased on vinyl only and in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies through Gothenburg based label Lake Of Fire productions. The EP will be released at the 10th anniversary concert.

RAM live shows:
19/07/13 FI – Lieto – Hammer Open Air
13/09/13 SE – Gothenburg – 10th Anniversary Show
19/10/13 NL – Amstelveen – Heavy Metal Maniacs Festival

“It’s an ‘imagine Ozzy and George Lynch joined Exodus’ pastiche” – Decibel Magazine

“Despite their Swedish origin, RAM bubbles over with the kind of British riffing and toe-tapping gallop pacing that so is so inseparable from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal” – BloodyGoodHorror.com

“as muscular and dynamic as it is epic and catchy” - Kerrang Magazine

“The album shines for its riffs. Songs like Comes from the Mouth Beyond and Release Me feature a flawless lead guitar; although it’s definitely classic heavy metal, it’s played in a much more aggressive manner, making it something akin to Saxon on a cocaine binge” – MetalSucks.net

Cannibal Corpse released a box set to commemorate their 25th anniversary: Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal. The box contains: all 12 full length studio albums in a 12 CD foldout case with new artwork, Torturing and Eviscerating LIVE on CD and LP Picture Disc recorded in Tampa, FL 2010/Milwaukee, WI 2012, PLUS: NEW EXCLUSIVE images by VINCE LOCKE, 12″ X 12″ graphic prints of all 13 original album covers, and a 2013 Cannibal Corpse Calendar. “This is a lineup of bands that have been a consistent part of the death/grind scene for decades, and we’re proud to be a part of it. It will be a legendary night for extreme music.”

“Do you remember the Blue Grape Merchandise catalog?” asks Decibel Editor in Chief Albert Mudrian.

“How about the Hard N’ Heavy Grindcore Video Special? Or purchasing CDs in longboxes? Then this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour was aseembled for you. See you on the campaign trail for musical destruction.”

PURSON Streaming Debut Album

Purson, the London-based quintet Pitchfork recently described as eerie and whimsical,” is currently streaming their debut album, The Circle and The Blue Door, via Spin HERE.

The 11-song album is set for an April 30 release via Metal Blade/Rise Above Records and has been dubbed “best debut of 2013″ by Decibel Magazine with overseas outlets like Kerrang (“the best bits of ’60s and ’70s rock – think Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Cream… brought to 2013 in a sweet-smelling musical haze”), BBC (“a modern demonic sound”), Terrorizer (“their brand of gothic psychedelia is set to take 2013 by storm”) and Subterranea/Metal Hammer (“Purson are the UK’s new ambassadors for the otherworldly”) all championing the young UK outfit.

The video for Leaning On A Bear - directed by Chris Martindebuted last month and is viewable here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c90mXA_Jrc4The clip gives a perfect visual to the band’s trippy psychedelia, or as they call it “vaudeville carny psych.”

Rosalie said of the setting:

“We found this great place in Brixton, South London called Café Cairo that look as though it has been transplanted there from the souk in Marrakesh.”

Pre-orders of The Circle and The Blue Door are available via Metal Blade at this link: www.metalblade.com/pursonPurson will make their debut U.S. performances this fall with tour dates forthcoming.

This issue is on newsstands now and includes a comprehensive interview with CATHEDRAL founder, Lee Dorrian. Dorrian, who also founded and runs Rise Above Records, discusses his time in Napalm Death, growing up in the UK metal scene, and the decision to put CATHEDRAL to rest. For more information, and to order a copy, head to decibelmagazine.com.

CATHEDRAL Stream New Single, Unveil Album Cover Art

Cathedral’s The Last Spire will be released in North America on April 30, 2013. Recorded at Orgone Studios in London, produced by Lee Dorrian and Garry Jennings with assistance, mixing by Jamie Gomez Arellano and art by Dave Patchett and Arik Roper, The Last Spire will stand as the band’s final effort. The first single to be released, Tower of Silence, can be heard now at metalblade.com/cathedral.

And lo, Lee Dorrian, mouthpiece of Cathedral for 23 years, doth solemnly intone the death rites of this mighty British metal Titan. Born in the dying days of Thatcher’s Britain, bonding over then-unfashionable, obscure names like Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Trouble and Dream Death, Cathedral’s sole ambition was to record a demo tape. In fact they revolutionized doom metal, first pushing their influences into new avenues of grinding extremity, then pioneering groovier forms of ’70s-indebted stoner doom.

Lee Dorrian adds:

“When the last mix was finally done, there was a massive sense of relief. I think this was partly due to the fact that it meant Cathedral could finally be put to rest but also because we felt we’d done something that we were all very pleased with. I feel comfortable leaving The Last Spire as our legacy.”

He continues,

“The funeral of Cathedral has been a long but gratifying process. Deciding to end the band wasn’t an easy decision to make but we knew deep down in our hearts that it was the right thing to do.”

Read the full bio, written by Chris Chantler, at metalblade.com’s Cathedral artist page HERE.

Cathedral, released their first new recorded material in three years exclusively via Decibel Magazine‘s subscriber-only Decibel Flexi Series. The song, Vengeance of the Blind Dead, can be heard in the flexi included in the March issue. The track is also streaming on Decibel’s soundcloud page: soundcloud.com/decibelmagazine. Limited quantities of the issue with the flexi can be ordered on HERE.

Additionally, Cathedral will be the featured cover story for Decibel Magazine’s May issue, on newsstands in April. The feature will highlight the band’s storied career, as well as discuss their final studio release, The Last Spire.

The Last Spire was recorded by:
Lead Vocals – Lee Dorrian
Guitars – Garry Jennings
Bass – Scott Carlson
Drums – Brian Dixon
Hammond, Mellotron, Moog & Synths – David Moore
Guest Vocals on Cathedral Of The Damned - Chris Reifert
Backing Vocals – Rosalie Cunningham
