Female-Fronted Russian Sensation LOUNA to Release New Album

No other rock group from Russia exploded onto the music scene quite as rapidly as LOUNA. The band, winners of the 2009 “Best New Artist of the YearRussian Alternative Music Prize (RAMP) and the 2012 “Female Vocalist of the Year” Nashe Award (announced last night), are poised to take over the American hard-rock scene with their new album, Behind A Mask, in-stores and available online April 30, 2013 via Red Decade Records and MEG/RED.

Female-Fronted International Rock Sensation LOUNA to Release New Album Behind A Mask on April 30, 2013 via Red Decade Records and MEG/RED

The album will open the eyes and ears of the American rock music scene by showcasing the pure blistering talent of LOUNA and the soaring vocals of the band’s lead singer Lousine “Lou” Gevorkian (in a world that has become immersed in autotune and over-production, Behind A Mask boasts true musical talent with only 10-15 seconds of vocal correction on the entire 45-minute record). It features 10 of the band’s best songs from their first two albums and have been painstakingly adapted into English by American producer and lyricist Travis Leake (the SLoT). The album was mixed by renowned producer/engineer Dan Korneff (Breaking Benjamin, The Pretty Reckless, Papa Roach, My Chemical Romance, Paramore) and mastering duties were handled by the legendary Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound, New York.

On March 26, Behind A Mask will be available for pre-order and the tracks Mama and Business will be released as singles. This will be the first time that Business is released as a single anywhere. Stay tuned for a pre-order link coming soon. The accompanying music video for the first single, Business, is one of the most expensive and elaborate productions in Russian music history according to the film company, InnerVision.

LOUNA’s reputation extends beyond their musicality to include the focus of their personal passions as found in their lyrics and actions. They are the most commercially successful rock band of the modern protest movement (of which Pussy Riot became the most internationally renowned). They donated their song The Time of X to the White Album project raising funds for Pussy Riot’s support and defense. MTV USA came to Moscow in October of 2012 and featured LOUNA in an upcoming documentary about protest music around the world called “Rebel Music”, which should air in the fall of 2013 on MTVU nationwide

Formed in 2008 by Tracktor Bowling lead singer Lousine Gevorkian and bassist Vitaly Demidenko, the idea behind LOUNA was to pursue wider musical ideas that didn’t fit in with their original band. They recruited guitarists Rouben Kazariyan and Sergey Ponkratiev, and drummer Leonid “Pilot” Kinzbursky. After the release of their first EP which lyrically focused on the many modern social problems that exist, they were quickly named the aforementioned 2009 Best New Artist of the Year at the annual Russian Alternative Music Prize (RAMP) awards.

They released their first album, Let’s Get Louder in December of 2010, selling out every venue during their first national tour of Russia supporting the album. Two singles, Fight Club and Let’s Get Louder reached #1 on the Russian radio charts, with Fight Club remaining in the top 10 for a record-breaking 16 weeks and being named the 2011 Rock Song of the Year at the annual Nashe Awards. Along with this, LOUNA was nominated for Breakthrough Artist and Solo Performance of the year. Their second album, The Time of X, released in February of 2012 already produced a #1 single, Mama, and their most recent single People Looking Up entered the Russian charts in the top 10.

LOUNA has performed on the main stage at every major festival throughout Russia. Earlier in 2012, they were invited to perform as one of the main headliners at the 50th birthday concert festival honoring Russian rock legend Victor Tsoi of the band Kino, playing to audiences of over 15,000 people in both Moscow and St. Petersburg.

ZOMBIFIED Album Coming In February

In continued partnership with Germany‘s Cyclone Empire RecordsMetal Blade Records will be releasing one of Cyclone’s most recent European releases in North America. Zombified’s Carnage Slaughter and Death will be released on February 5 via Metal Blade Records in North America. The Sweden-based death/grind act unleashed the album at the end of 2012 in Europe. The title track, as well as album pre-orders, can be found at metalblade.com/zombified. Plus, hear tracks from the new album on The Welding Room radio program.

Zombified was started as a two man project by guitarists P. Myrén and P. Fransson in the winter of 2006. After some beers, and a three song demo, they decided to assemble a full band and record an album.

They got in contact with the session members “Von Pest” and M. Askinen and with them they gave birth to the first album Zombified Slaughtermachine. After the release, M. Fiebig and R. Karlsson joined the band on drums and vocals and Zombified didn’t waste any time and created a new album called Carnage Slaughter And Death. Shortly thereafter, M. Fiebig decided to leave the band and a new drummer was found in J. Johansson.

Zombified Slaughtermachine led to the band signing with Cyclone Empire. Carnage Slaughter and Death will be released in February 2013 by Metal Blade Records in North America. Carnage Slaughter and Death was recorded at Shotgun Studios, which is owned and operated by the band. Additionally, the band is wasting no time and has already begun assembling material for a third album.

Zombified:
Patrik Myrén – Guitar
Pär Fransson – Guitar
Roberth Karlsson – Vocals and Bass
Jacob Johansson – Drums

W.E.T. To Release Sophomore Album in February

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of Swedish-American Supergroup, W.E.T. new studio album Rise Up on February 26 in North America.

Download the new single, Learn to Live Again by following this link: http://www.frontiers.it/download/wetlearn13.html

The W.E.T. debut album in 2009 was one of the rare occasions when a band, created by the vision of a record label president, managed to create such a wave of enthusiasm and interest from fans and the media alike. Not only did it go beyond the band’s own expectations, but it pushed the musicians themselves to raise their own game, when in the beginning they thought “no one would care except maybe the die-hard fans from the three bands the name W.E.T. came from.”

The key element to the success of  W.E.T. was to create a modern Melodic Hard Rock sound and drive it into the future with powerhouse rhythm and production, making it an equally classic and contemporary release.

Robert Säll (the “W” from Work of Art), Erik Mårtensson (the “E” from Eclipse) and Jeff Scott Soto (the “T” from Talisman), along with returning Eclipse members Magnus Henriksson and Robban Bäck, accepted the daunting task to create a follow-up, that could live up to the expectation of thousands of fans across the globe.

The album’s release will be anticipated by the release of the single Learn to Live Again - an unbelievably radio-friendly song, which features for the first time a vocal duet between Mårtensson and Soto.

Rise Up presents again a massive production and equally impressive songwriting, which updates the term “classic rock” into the new century.

“The songs were written between December 2011 to February 2012 and were recorded between March through May. We then wrote/added three more songs in September, recorded them in October and the whole album was finally mixed and mastered,” says Erik Mårtensson.

“To me this album sounds more like a ‘band’ verses the 1st album”, adds Jeff Scott Soto

“The first album was great as it had a lot of great songs but this one has great songs and a bandpersonality which shows growth as far as I’m concerned.”

Hook after hook, Rise Up is another one of these albums where you can enjoy the dynamics of a brilliant partnership bringing out a unique result. Melodic bullet rockers are followed by haunting ballads and fabulous arena rockers in an album that will leave listeners in awe from start to finish.

“We took what we all loved about the first album and built the songwriting and sound from that. We wanted to give the band more of an identity and tried to find ‘our’ own sound. I really think we achieved it with this album. Heavier and darker than the first album which we all in the band love. It’s melodic rock for a new century!” tells Mårtensson.

Soto adds: “Strangely my faves are the more up-tempo songs and ballads on this album, W.E.T do great AOR stuff naturally but to have more strength on some tracks and then get emotionally charged in others made those songs the more interesting for me.”

W.E.T. plan to launch the new album through a special live show in Stockholm at the Debaser Club on January 17, 2013. The band has made only one live appearance at the annual Firefest event in the UK in October 2011, but in this new and special concert appearance, they will be showcasing new songs as well as digging some tracks from the now classic debut. Tickets can be bought in advance following this link: https://secure.tickster.com/Intro.aspx?ERC=89TYN1LGME921HT

Rise Up will be released in February, but it will be very difficult to envision anything better to come out during the year to beat the “Melodic Rock album of the year” for 2013.

W.E.T. is Jeff Scott Soto - lead vocals, Erik Mårtensson – guitars/bass/keyboards/vocals, Robert Säll – keyboards/guitars, Robban Bäck – drums, Magnus Henriksson – guitars
