About: Toronto, Canada’s high-energy, modern thrash monsters Fatality have been cranking out wise-cracking, beer-drenched nightmares together since 2003. Known for their wild, riotous live performances and their peerless work ethic, they have been independently booking and promoting their own shows, creating great merch, touring North America, and making some great tunes along the way. Few bands embody the DIY spirit as fully as Fatality consistently do, and no other bands have as much fun working their asses off.

Fatality’s debut effort, Beers From The Grave, was an irreverent, horror-themed album that eschewed seriousness in favour of hard living and good times. Decibel Magazine quipped that, on Beers From The Grave,

“solos fly with reckless abandon, the bass is audible and practically so are the beers being cracked open. These guys must have awesome parties.”

Hellbound.ca stated that Fatality are “a bundle of crass, explosive, obnoxiously positive energy spewing beer and shrapnel.” Part homage to classic zombie apocalypse horror and part retro-thrash ruckus, Beers From The Grave was an exciting, riotously messy debut.

After supporting Beers From The Grave with East coast Canadian tours, and being invited to share the stage with the likes of Exodus, Municipal Waste, Holy Grail and Razor, the thrash rockers went back to the studio and emerged with still more new material. Three rough-and-tumble, irresistibly catchy singles — “T.F.E.S.”, “Uppercut” and “Hammerfist” — were bundled together as a free EP. While most bands would have simply released a free record and called it a day, Fatality supported their singles with North American tours, winning hearts, destroying livers and splitting eardrums along the way. After those adventures, Fatality went into a period of hiatus. They emerged from this creative cocoon and re-instated their original drummer, Mason LeVon (brother to guitarist and vocalist Spencer LeVon, who replaced longtime friend and skinsman Andrew Suarez), and new musical vision. In early 2012, the band began writing a brand-new full-length, ‘Psychonaut’, unquestionably their most ambitious project to date.

FATALITY Posts Tour Diary

amr_logo_smal_570

Fatality vocalist/guitarist Spencer Le Von posted his first diary entry on the band’s current Towards Disastour here.

Smarter, stronger and musically tighter than ever, Canadian thrash party monsters Fatality unleashed their sophomore album Psychonaut last week on June 28 and are currently on their USA Towards Disastour.

Vocalist / guitarist Spencer Le Von comments:

Psychonaut, this complex riff addled collection is the result of much blood, sweat and endless passion. Eight tracks of blistering progressive thrash metal, each one of them filled with enough ear candy to satisfy your heavy metal sweet tooth. So this weekend, fire up that BBQ, get your rye and coke on ice and let your whole street hear it.”

Psychonaut is available on iTunesBandcampBig Cartel.

A darker and more mature effort, Psychonaut brings forth Fatality’s trademark energy and commitment to drunken mayhem. Tracks like Thoughts Collide and Before The Collapse delve deep into the sodden minds of their creators, bubbling with the strange alchemy of pop culture. Psychonaut is an exploration of the inner landscape of the mind, where addled thoughts and horror-polluted dreams are held up to musical scrutiny. Monstrous, ambitious, and sardonically funny as ever, Fatality are taking their unique sound and boundless energy to the next level.

HOLY GRAIL Premiere New Video

Having just completed touring with the Anthrax-headlined Metal Alliance Tour, Los Angeles heavy metal quintet HOLY GRAIL are excited to premiere their second-ever music video. Directed by Will Knapp, Ride The Void – the title track from their critically acclaimed sophomore release — can be seen below or on YouTube.

Described as “the second coming of Judas Priest” by the Washington Times, HOLY GRAIL spent much of 2012 recording Ride The Void - which cracked the Top 10 of the Billboard Heatseekers chart upon its release earlier this year – with producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children of Bodom).

“You’d have to go back 20 years to find a metal record that achieves this level of instant infectiousness.” Decibel

The album is currently available on iTunes and Amazon MP3, as well as on CD or LP via RideTheVoid.com.

HOLY GRAIL are currently touring their way west with Exodus. The band will also play a show at the Viper Room in Los Angeles — their first hometown headlining performance since the release of Ride The Void – on May 15. Additional tour dates will be announced soon.
HOLY GRAIL live:
4/25 Ashwaubenon, WI – Green Bay Distillery *
4/26 Fargo, ND – House of Rock *
4/27 Billings, MT – The Railyard *

VERA CRUZ Stream Album

Season of Mist, French independent label for Metal and Rock

French hardcore outfit VERA CRUZ are streaming SKINANDTEETHANDNAILS in it’s entirety here.

The band‘s Season of Mist debut, featuring eleven tracks of pulse pounding, relentless hardcore and metal will be out in North America on January 22.

VERA CRUZ live! Photo: Arianna Carotta (ARIANNACORATTA.COM)

VERA CRUZ embraces the fine art of serious ass kicking with their debut album SKINANDTEETHANDNAILS. Balancing melodic hardcore with rock influences, VERA CRUZ display astonishing mastery for such a young band. The album captures the explosive energy that the band unleashes during their live shows.

On the album, the band states:

“There’s an overall theme about this album and the way it has been thought and composed. There’s a sort of Holy Grail we always try to reach in every song but like the latter, whatever is Holy doesn’t lie in front of your eyes for everyone to see, but is rather a kind of quest to find it. We would like people to be able to find what they’ve been seeking with our music. It’s for everyone to decipher it and find what’s under the surface.”

SKINANDTEETHANDNAILS will be available on CD-Digipak and digitally.
