THE CUSTODIAN Sign With Lasers Edge Records

THE CUSTODIAN is the UK’s newest and most exciting progressive rock band. Formed in late 2012, the band is already primed to release their debut offering Necessary Wasted Time June 18 via The Lasers Edge.

The band is lead by British musician Richard Thomson, better known as the vocalist of progressive metal group Xerath. The project was initially started in a bedroom in Warwickshire and has now, after several years of lying dormant due to other commitments, become a fully fledged band ready to take the prog rock world by storm.

Thomson, commented on the band’s signing to The Lasers Edge:

“We are extremely proud to be joining The Lasers Edge family. Not only is their roster exceptional but working with Ken and the team has been a superb experience for us. They take huge pride in what they do and more importantly the enthusiasm they have for the development of their bands is fantastic. We look forward to making some great music with them and bringing it out on the road as soon as possible!”

Label head Ken Golden explained how the signing of THE CUSTODIAN came about:

“An unexpected e-mail from a mysterious band named THE CUSTODIAN caught my attention. I started to listen to their debut album Necessary Wasted Time… and I kept listening… and listening. In short I became addicted. Rich Thomson and crew are creating the type of forward thinking music that helps define the fabric of The Laser’s Edge. I’m very excited to present THE CUSTODIAN to a worldwide audience.”

The band takes influence not only from prog rock, but anything and everything else that fits. Expect lots of beautiful acoustic passages, warm synth, tasteful leads, complex drumming and great production.

The album was recorded by the band in their home studio, mixed by Danish producer Jacob Hansen and mastered by Bob Katz. The artwork was created by British artist Colin Marks of Rainsong design.

THE CUSTODIAN:
Richard Thomson: Drums, Vocals, Synth
Michael Pitman: Bass, Vocals
Owain Williams: Lead Guitar
Nariman Poushin: Electro Acoustic Guitar

WALK AS CHAOS Unleash New Music Video

Walk As Chaos, the new extreme progressive metal collaboration from Alan Sacha Laskow (Divinity, Enditol) and Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster (Out of Your Mouth, Autobody) are proud to unleash a new music video in support of their first single Impasse.

WALK AS CHAOS – Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster (left) & Alan Sacha Laskow

Directed by one of Alberta‘s leading independent music video directors, Doug Cook, the video incorporates various film making techniques like old school stop-motion photography, computer graphic elements mixed with live action along with fantastic set and costume design to bring Impasse to the visual forefront.

“We are super excited about our new music video for Impasse. Doug Cook (director) went the extra mile and we are proud to say we feel it sticks out as being modern & inventive – just like our music. When we started talking about how to bring the song into the visual realm, Doug decided the backdrop should be a futuristic world made up of lines that had a difficult time connecting with each other, like a maze. He also wanted to put Jerrod and I into situations that showcased our collaboration (singer/engineer) but also the frustration one can be faced with when being at a impasse, whether is be Man vs. Man, Man vs. Tech and Man vs. Nature, etc” comments Laskow.

WALK AS CHAOS – Impasse

About:

Two musical comrades from the northern wasteland collaborate to create a unique hybrid between true Progressive and Extreme Metal leanings. All instrumentation is programmed and played by MIDI except the guitar and vocals. Think Cynic and Animals as Leaders meeting Meshuggah and Decapitated and you’re getting there.

A continuation of ENDITOL with a fresh start and new name, WAC is essentially a playground for their minds to unleash whatever they feel like and put down to ‘tape’, just pure expression and an honest attempt to communicate.

Axis Of Metal Free Download

After the tremendous out pouring of support for volume 1, you, the Axis Of Metal community have spoken loud and clear and they’ve answered the call, and countered with Volume 2. Volume 2 features more emerging artists, and is more encompassing of the metal world than the previous release.

Volume 2 will treat your eardrums to the thrashiest of metal, heinous black metal, putrid death metal, empowering traditional metal, methodical doom metal, boundary pushing progressive metal, the grooviest of groove metal, avant-garde madness, and bouncy folk metal among many other genres and incarnations of heavy sounds.

They’ve loaded their heavy metal shotgun and are discharging the most comprehensive of compilations to satisfy even the pickiest of nay-sayers and nitpickers.

If you’re wondering who crafted the sublime cover art, Axis Of Metal’s good friend Kartigan has stepped up to the plate and donated his time, effort, and patience and delivered the goods. If your band needs any sort of artwork, please don’t hesitate to contact him at: contact@axisofmetal.com and they can put both parties into motion.
