PYRITHION Release Studio Video
It’s a struggle for some bands to get started, while others appear to seamlessly come together. With years of perspective and experience, the three members of Pyrithion have created a dark and intense death metal record almost overnight. The individual members’ prior success aside, the music speaks for itself. In an exclusive studio video, shot and edited by Ryan Glisan, fans can catch a glimpse of what it’s like to record inside Lambesis Studios. The new video is now streaming at metalblade.com/pyrithion.
The Burden of Sorrow to be released April 16th on Metal Blade Records
Singer Tim Lambesis, who is best known for his work as the front man of As I Lay Dying, explains: “I have wanted to do a heavier and more traditionally metal band for a while. Being that I own a recording studio, I thought a great place to start was by asking my engineer who the best guitar player is that he has recorded. I wanted to team him up with one of my favorite guitar players growing up.”
Shortly thereafter, Ryan Glisan from Allegaeon and Andy Godwin (ex-The Famine, Embodyment) began sending ideas back and forth. Those ideas would form the foundations of the first three Pyrithion songs.
Glisan elaborates further on the band’s expedited origin, “When Tim first reached out to me to ask if I was interested in starting a new project, I was really intrigued as to where the overall sound would go. Given the short time frame we had to work with, the ‘newness’ of all the members, and an uncertainty of an overall direction, I wasn’t initially 100% confident in how the end product would turn out. After spending a weekend collaborating, recording these initial 3 songs, and beginning to write new songs going forward, I can say with absolute confidence now that this band will be a major force in the metal scene.”
Pyrithion’s debut release, The Burden of Sorrow, stands as a showcase of what the members are capable of putting together over what merely amounted to an extended weekend. The total potential in Pyrithion is incredible and there is much anticipation for how the band will continue to develop as they prepare for a full length record.

KOLDBRANN Premiere New Music Video
Black metal force KOLDBRANN released a music video from their newest album, Vertigo. The video for Drammen is streaming now at MetalInjection.net.
KOLDBRANN have been spearheading the Norwegian underground black metal scene since their founding in 2001. Together with compatriots such as 1349, URGEHAL and others, the band remained true to the early spirit of the genre. Their brand new full-length Vertigo sees KOLDBRANN drawing deep from their cold, raw black roots, while simultaneously exploring new, vintage sonic territory.
Vertigo is available for streaming in it’s entirety at the official KOLDBRANN Bandcamp page. and can be ordered at the Season of Mist e-shop. The album is available on CD, and as a strictly limited edition gate-fold double LP in black and transparent vinyl.

SCALE THE SUMMIT Post Additional Behind The Scenes Footage
Progressive instrumentalists SCALE THE SUMMIT will release their highly anticipated fourth album, The Migration, on June 11, shortly after the start of their upcoming tour with Intronaut. The album was recorded earlier this year at Basement Studios in North Carolina with Jamie King (BTBAM, For Today).
The Migration marks the recording debut of new bassist Mark Michell. A behind-the-scenes look at the tracking of his bass guitar parts for the album, which features snippets of several new tracks, can be seen on Bass Musician Magazine by clicking HERE.

AMARANTHE Top iTunes Metal Chart
Swedish/Danish modern metal sextet AMARANTHE released their new album, The Nexus, last week to great success. The album landed on the iTunes Metal chart at #1. Additionally, the band can reveal that they are positioned at an outstanding #12 on the Soundscan Heatseeker chart, #36 on the Current Hard Music Albums Core Stores chart, and #61 on the Hard Music Albums chart.
“To finally have a proper release in the USA is awesome in itself, but to see it hit number ONE on the iTunes metal charts is mindblowing! We just recently learned that we are at #12 on the Soundscan Heatseeker charts, which is a really good indication for things to come as well,” states guitarist and keyboardist Olof Mörck.
“Right now we are looking at every possible opportunity to come back to the US and perform over there again, our first and only show at the ProgPower festival in Atlanta was a great experience indeed! So watch out, as THE NEXUS live machine will hit American shores this year!”
AMARANTHE’s new music video for The Nexus racked up OVER 1.4 MILLION views since its release on January 25. The video is available for viewing now on VEVO at this link. The video was directed by Patric Ullaeus, who has worked with names such as In Flames, Arch Enemy and Dimmu Borgir; he was also responsible for AMARANTHE video for The Hunger, the lead single from the band’s highly successful debut, now at a whopping 4 million YouTube views (and counting).

Last week saw the WEATHERMAKER MUSIC release of the highly anticipated new studio album Earth Rocker from CLUTCH. Earth Rocker entered the Billboard Top 200 Charts at #15 marking the highest Billboard Chart debut in the band’s storied career. The album came in at #1 on the Hard Music Chart and #3 on the Independent Album Chart.

WHITECHAPEL guitarist Alex Wade just launched his official youtube channel. Fans can subscribe now at youtube.com/AlexWadeOfficial. The first video is a performance demonstration of WHITECHAPEL’s Vicer Exciser from their upcoming re-issue of The Somatic Defilement. The re-issues was completely re-mixed by Audiohammer’s Mark Lewis and re-mastered by Alan Douches at West Westside.
Alex Wade comments on the new channel: “For a while, I have taken to videography as a second hobby to guitar playing. Creating this YouTube channel just combines my two favorite hobbies and allows me to connect more personally with our fan base, so it just seems like a natural thing for me to do. I will be posting song play throughs of Whitechapel (and non Whitechapel) songs, gear demos, FAQs, tutorials, tour videos, and a lot more.”

An expanded band lineup and festival experience has been announced for the third annual Monster Energy’s Welcome To Rockville, April 27 and 28, 2013 at Jacksonville’s scenic Metropolitan Park along the beautiful St. Johns River.
The region’s biggest rock event will feature headlining performances from Alice In Chains as well as Jacksonville legends Lynyrd Skynyrd and Shinedown. ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ARTIST LINEUP
(BEVERLY HILLS, CA) Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, the world’s biggest hard and heavy music touring festival announces its electrifying sixth-year lineup. Artists performing on the 2013 thunderous fest include main stage metal and horror legend, festival closer, ROB ZOMBIE, plus, the triple gold certified FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and a monster lineup that includes additional main stage bands MASTODON and AMON AMARTH. The festival area is led by stage closers CHILDREN OF BODOM and MACHINE HEAD as well as BEHEMOTH, JOB FOR A COWBOY, EMMURE, BORN OF OSIRIS, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, BUTCHER BABIES, BATTLECROSS, HUNTRESS, THROWN INTO EXILE and CITY IN THE SEA. Four stages will be presented this year for the first time ever and the stages include the ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAIN STAGE, THE JAGERMEISTER STAGE, MUSICIANS INSTITUTE STAGE, as well as, the SUMERIAN RECORDS/HEADBANG FOR THE HIGHWAY CONCOURSE STAGE, (local bands performing on the Sumerian Records/Headbang for the Highway Stage will be announced in June).

A rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. Now, the seven-time Grammy nominated recording artist releases his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, which hits the street April 23, and includes the first single, Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town, along with such tracks as Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga, Lucifer Rising, Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures and a heavy-duty cover of Grand Funk Railroad’s We’re an American Band. Rob Zombie’s Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor is the first release on his new label, Zodiac Swan, through T-Boy Records/UME. Zombie’s also written and directed his 6th feature film, The Lords of Salem, in theaters April 19 (Anchor Bay).
After three gold albums in a row and ten consecutive top ten radio singles, Five Finger Death Punch continue their evolution in 2013 by releasing a new single in early May, followed by their fourth studio album in June. FFDP are set to perform live at this year’s Revolver Golden Gods Awards show in Los Angeles on May 2 and will warm up for Mayhem playing this summer’s most prestigious European festivals, amongst them UK’s Download Festival and Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park.
