About:

Heavy music has long provided a sanctuary for restless creative spirits. As drummer and songwriting mainstay for US metal titans SlipknotJoey Jordison has earned himself a fearsome reputation as one of the most prolific and artistically driven figures in modern music. Now, after many years of side-projects and collaborations, he has formed a new band that boldly encapsulates his unique creative personality. A full-blooded and fully-formed sonic beast that brings Joey together with some of the most talented musicians in the rock world, Scar The Martyr are starting as they intend to continue: as an unstoppable force.

Pieced together by Jordison and his new comrades over the last couple of years, Scar The Martyr’s debut album is both a celebration of one man’s unique vision and a potent collision between diverse but effortlessly compatible musicians. Although Joey plays guitars, bass and drums on the record, the contributions of lead guitarists Jed Simon (ex-Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (Darkest Hour), vocalist Henry Derek and keyboard scientist Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails) are not to be underestimated.

RIVERS OF NIHIL Album Pre-Order Available

Rivers of Nihil have released the first single from their debut album “The Conscious Seed of Light,” out October 15 in North America and October 11/14 in Europe/UK via Metal Blade Records. “Rain Eater” is available for streaming now at metalblade.com/riversofnihil, where fans can also pre-order the album.

The album was recorded in March of 2013 at Mana Recording Studios in Florida with famed metal producer/musician Erik Rutan.

Guitarist Brody Uttley said,

“Working with Erik was a true privilege. Coming from the DIY circuit and immediately recording with one of greatest death metal producers of all time pushed us all more than we ever could have expected, both as musicians and as people. We have grown tremendously as a band in all aspects because of our experience with Erik.”

The debut single, “Rain Eater,” is available for streaming now at metalblade.com/riversofnihil, where fans can also pre-order the album.

Artwork for the band’s debut full-length was handled by famed cover artist, Dan Seagrave, whose portfolio includes covers for Morbid Angel, Entombed, Suffocation, and Decrepit Birth. RIVERS OF NIHIL ended up sending a brief treatment of the record that included a description of the album with song titles, a few lyrics, etc. to a number of artists the band admires. Every one of the artists seemed interested to a degree; however, it was Dan Seagrave who really seemed like he understood and appreciated what it was the band was going for.

And as Brody says,

“he really tore into it! What we see on the cover is a landscape of a world that doesn’t need mankind, we are relics here, and the sun is the only true master.”

Born from the ruins of their decaying hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania, RIVERS OF NIHIL are on a relentless path of taking their music to the next level. Formed in 2009 the modern progressive death metal quintet’s music is as dark and heavy as the coal and iron their home city was built upon, taking influences from some of death metal’s heaviest, most abrasive hitters: Morbid Angel, Gojira, Spawn of Possession, and Decapitated, to name a few.

ALLEGAEON Release Performance Demo; Tour Begins Friday

Colorado natives, Allegaeon, just completed a brand new performance demo video. This time, guitarist Greg Burgess and bassist Corey Archuleta show fans how they play Secrets of the Sequence, the epic closing track to their latest album, Formshifter. The video is streaming now at metalblade.com/allegaeon.

Beginning this Friday, Allegaeon is performing a series of headlining shows leading up to their US tour with Wretched, Abiotic, and Rivers of Nihil. The confirmed listing of dates can be found below, as well as on facebook.com/allegaeon.

Guitarist Greg Burgess comments on the tour:

“We are super stoked to be getting back on the road, and we think we’ve got a pretty fun set for the fans. Our headlining shows will be about an hour, playing songs from every release of our career, including the debut of a brand new song The Fibonacci Series. As for the bulk of the tour with Wretched, Abiotic, and Rivers of Nihil, we’re incredibly excited. We’ve been wanting to tour with our buddies in Wretched for a long time now, and are stoked to finally see it come to fruition. And it’s gonna be awesome to meet our label mates Abiotic and Rivers of Nihil! This tour is gonna blow peoples minds!! Bring your riot gear.”

Allegaeon’s second full-length album, Formshifter, has significantly surpassed its predecessor and debuted at #29 on the Billboard New Artist Chart and #99 on the Top Hard Music Albums Chart. This is a huge achievement for the band as they continue to carve out their foothold within the metal community.

Formshifter has been incredibly well received by press worldwide.

The UK’s Kerrang Magazine raves:

“It’s not just the magnificently blended barrage of monstrous riffs and insidious hooks. Nor is it solely due to the fact it sounds like the quartet are trying to bring the sky crashing down on your head. And it’s not just the wealth of complex leads that will make many guitarists petulantly sulk in the corner after a single exposure. It’s all of those elements – combined with great songwriting that makes the record truly special.”

“But the members of Allegaeon are so monstrously talented—see the entwined guitar harmonics, machine-gun drumming, and even the occasional, not insufferably acoustic interlude on the group’s heavily NWOBHM-shaded second LP, Formshifter—that they dig their way out of the doldrums of mere proficiency” – AVClub.com

“The new face of ruthless modern death metal” – Metal Hammer Magazine

Formshifter is a bewilderingly powerful album that is an essential of the year” – NoCleanSinging.com

“one of the landmark releases in melodic death metal in 2012… fans of pure metal that is both ambitious and true to its roots need this record in their lives. Now.” - Outburn Magazine

Tracks like Thoughts Collide and Before The Collapse delve deep into the sodden minds of their creators, bubbling with the strange alchemy of pop culture. Psychonaut is an exploration of the inner landscape of the mind, where addled thoughts and horror-polluted dreams are held up to musical scrutiny. Monstrous, ambitious, and sardonically funny as ever, FATALITY are taking their unique sound and boundless energy to the next level.

BIO:

Most high school friends can’t even stand to look at each other once school’s out, but in the case of vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key, they decided to spend even more time together after graduation.Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, they joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed would be proud of and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.

With two full-length albums behind them – We Couldn’t Think of a Title and Sandwich – the band released their latest record, Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D, in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.
