The Philadelphia Flyers can be the #1 team in the NHL by the end of the night.
A couple factors play into this but it’s not impossible.
Here’s the formula:
#1. Philly must beat the Islanders in regulation for 2 points. (Not a difficult task. The Isles are far from the dynasty that won 4 consecutive Cups. They’re kind of a glorified AHL team these days)
#2. Current NHL leader, Vancouver Canucks must lose to the St. Louis Blues… in regulation.
This is the last regular season meeting between the Blues & Canucks. Blues lead the series 2-1 but they’re coming off 2 losses while the Canucks lost their last outing as well. However, Vancouver have won 7 of their last 11 games.
Teams get 2 points for a regulation or OT victory. The losing team gets 0 points in a regulation loss but 1 point in OT.
For reference purposes, the Flyers have 84 pts, Vancouver 85 pts hence the anticipation.
