About the song, the band said:
“Our music is a blend of many genres, genres that we all love, and is hard to define precisely but there is this intangible cement that holds the whole thing together. Black Walls is not an exception to that rule. It’s a short, straight forward kinda in your face song that’s a tribute to our punk roots and our love for fast and simple music with a break down that comes from more modern influences. The ending is an off tempo acceleration inspired by thrash metal bands. Therefore Black Walls is a perfect definition for our style: a one minute and thirty seconds song where no less than three music genres coexist. This is Vera Cruz“
Skinandteethandnails, which will be available as a CD-Digipak, is set for a North American release on January 22.
VERA CRUZ updates will be made available through the Season of Mist website, and the VERA CRUZ website and Facebook page.
Band Bio:
VERA CRUZ embrace the fine art of serious ass kicking with their debut album Skinandteethandnails. Balancing confidently on the edge of melodic Hardcore boosted by Rock ‘n’ Roll influences and Metalcore, the French display an astonishing mastery for such a young band.
Founding it in Paris in 2009, the members were leaving their old outfits based in a range of styles from Punk Rock to Metal behind to seek a new challenge. Eager to get on the road, they decided to give away their first four-track EP Surviving Farrah Fawcett (2010) and started touring in France, following immediately with three weeks in the USA. There VERA CRUZ shot a video clip for The Game with legendary director Ian McFarland (MESHUGGAH, FEAR FACTORY, AS I LAY DYING).
Back on European soil, extensive touring ensued with fifty shows alongside such renowned acts such as TERROR, EVERY TIME I DIE, ALL SHALL PERISH, CANCER BATS, D.R.I and UNEARTH.
Fuelled by the fast growing live experience, new songs took shape that VERA CRUZ finally recorded during summer 2011 with producer Fred Duquesne (WATCHA). Skinandteethandnails manages to fully capture the explosive energy and heart wrenching brutal emotionality that the French unleash during their maniacal stage performances. Get ready to jump, slam and surf the crowds with VERA CRUZ.
