KAMIKABE Also Join Bloodletting North America Tour

(Pittsburgh, PA) Tech death metal machine, Kamikabe are proud to announce their participation in the return of Unique Leader‘s annual Extreme Metal tour, Bloodletting North America. They will be supporting their labelmates, French tech death metal masters, Gorod, as well as another fellow Unique Leader band, Inanimate Existence. Vale of Pnath (Willowtip) will be kicking things off each night.

The band had the following to say about the tour:

“We couldn’t be anymore stoked about this tour! An opportunity to shred with Gorod over here in the states is not something that happens too often. Plus, adding Inanimate Existence and Vale of Pnath to the lineup, as well as several other sick bands on select dates, makes this tour that much more crushing! We’ve been sharpening our blades and plan on destroying every city we hit. The years of hard work and support from everyone that has helped us along the way really speaks volumes for the Death Metal culture that we’re lucky to have. We’re excited to show Gorod how we do it over here, and more than ready to execute a full on assault from coast to coast!”

The tour spans from May 3 to June 1 covering the U.S. and parts of Canada. Also appearing on select dates will be Fallujah (Unique Leader), The Kennedy Veil (Unique Leader), Pyrexia (Unique Leader), Applaud the Impaler (Unique Leader), Rivers of Nihil (Metal Blade), Cognitive (Torture Music) and Archspire (Season of Mist).

Visions of Atlantis
Ethera
Symphonic Metal
Released 22nd March
Released via Napalm Records

I’ve been following Visions of Atlantis on and off for five or so years now, so when Ethera landed in my office, my interested was immediately piqued though I will admit, I’m not familiar with the vocal stylings of the current VOA vocalist, Maxi Nil.

The album kicks off with a powerful start through the first two tracks, demonstrating the band’s domineering symphonic-tinted sounds though the third track, Avatara, calls up more of a synth-orientated sonancy that plays along well enough with the vocals and guitar sections. Vicious Circle is one of the more emotive pieces on the album, featuring a heavy use of emotional piano medleys before the driving use of riffs domineer select parts of the song. The pianos and the soulful use of vocals are what help the track stand out prominently, above…

Serenity
War of Ages
Released 22nd March 2013
Symphonic/Power Metal
Released via Napalm Records

Over the past few years, Serenity have become a rising star in the symphonic and power metal scenes, with their previous album featuring a string of guest vocalists, including Delain’s Charlotte Wessels. Now, with the addition of Clémentine Delauney (ex-Whyzdom), the band are set to reach greater heights.

Wings of Madness proves itself to be the perfect opener, firing out an intense sound that augments frontman Georg’s vocals as well as those of new vocalist Clémentine. The heavy use of symphonic elements and orchestration add to the strong, intense musical shaping of the song, adding to the strength of the guitars and bass. Fortunately the bombastic assault of symphonic passages and heavy orchestration, as well as the choirs, continue their hypnotic flow throughout the album, keeping the trademark Serenity sound as a…
