We are knee deep in recording our new album and feel like this material is our most original and memorable to date. We were founded as a way to honor the Floridian fathers of death metal and this new record will be no exception. We’re looking forward to seeing what the future has in store!”

CANNABIS CORPSE is the project of MUNICIPAL WASTE bassist Phil “LandPhil” Hall and his brother Josh “Hallhammer” Hall. The band, rounded out by guitarist Brent Purgason (aka “Pustulus Maximus” of GWAR), released three well-received full-lengths previously, and toured the world over alongside THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, REVOCATION, HATE ETERNAL, SKELETONWITCH, and more.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH Reveal Sophomore Album Details

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH unveiled the artwork for their sophomore album Lay My Soul to Waste, due out May 21 in North America on Steamhammer/SPV. Once again the artwork was commissioned by Sam Shearon, who is also responsible for artwork on the band’s first release And Hell Will Follow Me

On the surface, A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH are impressive. But you’ll want to dig deeper and immerse yourself in all the sonic and lyrical layers, because the band isn’t afraid to plume the depths of darkness that humanity is capable of. It’s murky stuff, but someone has to do it.

Sal Abruscato and Matt Brown followed 2011’s incredible introduction And Hell Will Follow Me with Lay My Soul to Waste, which keeps the band’s patented signature formula of slow, deliberate sludge and head-down doom intact and as flawlessly executed as ever.
Think Alice in Chains, only harder, angrier and with a more perverse view of the world, as if they were reared in a row house in Bensonhurst, as opposed to the rainy landscape of Seattle, all the while feasting on a steady diet of Black Sabbath records.

Abruscato is open about the fantasy that dominates his lyrical point of view. He admits that all songs “have a line to reality…things that could and do happen everyday.” But like any skilled storyteller, Abruscato likes pushing buttons. His lyrics are no different than the narratives of the horror movie playing at your local multiplex. It’s largely fiction, with some nuggets or kernels of truth embedded within.

Musically, the record matches that pallor and “will hit you in the gut.” There are more harmonies this time out, and the piano is a bit more front and center, while guitarist Eddie Heedles contributed some leads. But for the most part, the formula remained largely untouched.

“If it’s not broken, don’t fix it,'” Abruscato says, matter-of-factly.

“We wanted to display the advancements, musically and artistically, and retain the core element.”

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH arrived with And Hell Will Follow Me. They have firmly implanted their roots in the metal scene with Lay My Soul to Waste. It’s a metal album that headbangers who enjoy a walk on the darker side of life will end up revering and responding to.

Tracklisting:
1) Lay My Soul to Waste
2) Shallow Grave
3) The Needle in You
4) In the Sleeping Death
5) Killer by Night
6) Growing Old
7) Dead of Winter
8) Devil Came With a Smile

BEYOND THE SHORE Post Track-By-Track Behind The Scenes Video

BEYOND THE SHORE posted a video that contains previews of each track from their new album, Ghostwatcher. In addition to the track samples, fans can read the concepts behind each song, written by vocalist Andrew Loucks.

Ghostwatcher in stores April 2; BEYOND THE SHORE on tour now

Loucks describes the concept behind the album title: “Ghostwatcher refers to the view you have on your dreams. While asleep, dreaming is usually a hazy memory at best. Few can actually go into detail with their dreams and dealing with the lucidity of them is another topic entirely! But the ‘ghostwatcher’ is your point of view on your dreams. As you may recall, when you see yourself in a dream, it’s always from another perspective, or ‘ghostwatcher’ as I call it. The album art shows a ghostwatcher and also the triangle with an eye in the middle refers to the state on unrest most of our world is in, not only in our dreams but also the differing forms of reality.”

To read Loucks’s descriptions for each track, check out the post HERE.

BEYOND THE SHORE’s most recent single, Glass House, made its debut last week – listen  HERE. Request Glass House, Homewrecker, Half Lived or any song from Ghostwatcher on The Welding Room now!

Following Paganfest, TÝR will begin recording their seventh full-length album. The title and art are considered works in progress, but vocalist/guitarist Heri Joensen divulged that the album “is about women. Earthly women, valkyries and goddesses. It touches on subjects from nordic mythology such as the quest for fame, death in battle and valhalla.”

Some of the song titles thus far include: Mare Of My Night and Come My Valkyrie. TÝR also confirmed that they will collaborate with producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Aborted, Mercenary) for the fifth consecutive album. Hansen produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered the band’s previous four albums: The Lay of Thrym, By the Light of the Northern Star, Land, and Ragnarock.

The unique approach of TÝR’s music, melting traditional Nordic songs and dances with Celtic influences, doom, heavy, and progressive metal has found fans around the globe. Hail to The Hammer has become the hymn to the new generation of folk, pagan, and Viking metal fans.
