New HIGH ON FIRE Album Streaming Online

California doom rock powerhouse HIGH ON FIRE will release not one, but two LIVE albums on June 18 via eOne Music. Titled Spitting Fire Live, the two volume set represents the first official live documents of the power trio’s storied career, perfectly capturing the sound and intensity of a band whose performances have been hailed as “rumbling and down-tuned and resonant” by the New York Times and who the Chicago Tribune called “one the best live bands you will ever see.” In advance of the two record set’s release, both live albums are now available for streaming via Pandora and Pitchfork, respectively.

* Stream HIGH ON FIRE’s Spitting Fire Live (vol. 1) via Pandora HERE.

* Stream HIGH ON FIRE’s Spitting Fire Live (vol. 2) via Pitchfork HERE.

Plus, request to hear High On Fire on The Welding Room.

Recorded over a two evening NYC headlining stint at both NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg last winter, Spitting Fire Live showcases HIGH ON FIRE at its incendiary best. The live sets contain well known HIGH ON FIRE songs from each of the band’s critically acclaimed studio albums including last year’s celebrated De Vermis Mysteriis. Mixing of the performances was handled by Greg Wilkinson with additional engineering done by Converge’s Kurt Ballou. The albums are available for pre-order via iTunes HERE and HERE, while limited LP versions and special bundle packages can be pre-ordered HERE.

The release of Spitting Fire Live puts a triumphant cap on a multi-year run by the Oakland band that has been fraught with both celebration and frustration. The release of last year’s De Vermis Mysteriis followed more than a year and a half of world touring in support of 2010’s Snakes for the Divine which included multiple North American headlining jaunts, international festival appearances and tours alongside Metallica, Slayer, Mastodon and The Melvins, the latter of which saw the trio caught in BOTH the February 22, 2011 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand and the powerful earthquake and resulting tsunami in Tokyo, Japan on March 11, 2011. The group was unharmed, but shaken after surviving its second natural disaster in sixteen days and was able to return to its native Oakland a few days later.

Last summer, HIGH ON FIRE was forced to pull out of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival as front man and guitarist Matt Pike entered treatment for alcohol rehabilitation.  Pike would emerge from treatment “stronger than ever” and HIGH ON FIRE celebrated by releasing “the wildest video in heavy metal history” for De Vermis Mysteriis’ potent track Fertile Green and then immediately announcing a North American headlining tour which saw the band at its very best and would ultimately yield the recordings that would become Spitting Fire Live.

With a renewed energy, drive and passion for the unique music it creates, HIGH ON FIRE forges forth as focused and determined as ever before. Spitting Fire Live showcases the dedication, resolve and ultimate creativity of one of the very finest metal bands on the planet today.

Spitting Fire Live Volume 1:

1. Serums Of Liao
2. Frost Hammer
3. 10,000 Years

Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, HIGH ON FIRE creates modern heavy metal that merges primal fury and aggression, hesher bombast and hall of fame heaviness.  Described as “a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume,” HIGH ON FIRE has rewritten the hard rock rule book since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both critically celebrated and absolutely unique.  The group features vocalist and cult guitar hero Matt Pike — also a founding member of the famed underground band SLEEP — along with powerhouse drummer Des Kenseland talented bassist Jeff Matz.  Pike was named as one of Rolling Stone’s “New Guitar Gods” and is one of rock’s most charismatic figures. HIGH ON FIRE’s latest album De Vermis Mysteriis was released on April 3, 2012.

“High on Fire sounds rejuvenated, as if it’s conquering the world all over again… Without fail, this no-BS stoner-metal band delivers yet another skull-bashing record, in the process challenging the metal world at large” – NPR

“Bludgeoning Bay Area trio High on Fire have seemingly entered a permanent state of metal flow. Fourteen years into its career, the band has mastered its woozy, pummeling music. Growler-guitarist Matt Pike yowls about violence and esoterica and riffs like he’s engulfed in flames while the rhythm section of bassist Jeff Matz and drummer Des Kensel pitch and yaw as if playing aboard a Viking longship” – SPIN

“visceral, ecstatically grimy heavy metal… progressive psychedelia… High on Fire are making some of the best music of their career” – PITCHFORK

“a beautiful, untamable kind of band” – THE NEW YORK TIMES

“High On Fire is part of the future of heavy music” – CRAVE ONLINE

“it’s not often something rocks this hard… stadium-sized” – STEREOGUM

“another host of monolithic, archetypal licks from the jaws of eternity… a mantra of transcendental awe” – THE ONION

“a band that eats Motorhead, drinks Sabbath, and bleeds Slayer… at the absolute pinnacle of their game” – SAN FRANCISCO BAY GUARDIAN

“High on Fire are the new Mötörhead. The trio never falter” – ALTERNATIVE PRESS

“High on Fire returning as victorious and inspirational as ever” – POPMATTERS

“Oakland’s (and possibly Earth’s) heaviest band, High on Fire, is ready for its close-up” – SF WEEKLY

“High on Fire hasn’t altered its MO drastically on De Vermis Mysteriis; the band just continues to make it sound as amazing as possible… powerful yet progressive” – ALARM
