Members of DARK ANGEL Address Rumors, Again…

Each member of Dark Angel has come forward to express thoughts about future touring rumors spreading wildly across the web.

“I’m here to state that again, DFA is still talking about doing shows in 2014. As of now, none of the members have booked anything in regards to fests or individual dates. Of course, there are the rumors of certain fests being booked, but any talks that may have occurred, were done so without the ENTIRE bands’ knowledge and acquiescence, and therefore cannot be deemed as credible. One thing that holds true to us is that we feel that Dark Angel’s legacy is in danger of being tarnished if these random acts were to continue. There are a host of valid reasons why Dark Angel has been slow to react to the myriad offers we have received in the past to reunite, but the most important reason is that we wish to do the greatest service possible to our fans, and if that means the time has yet to be right, then the time has not been right. And, concerning the immediate future of 2014, if the time and conditions are not right, then again, they will not be right for all involved. Most importantly, our fans.

We do realize that yes, reunions are quite the norm these days. Dark Angel however, has never conformed to the norm, and we refuse to reunite unless we can come back and give our fans the most stellar situation possible. Which is precisely what we are working towards behind the scenes. We greatly appreciate everyone’s enthusiastic response to the possibility of a proper reunion, and as a unit, Dark Angel will do what will be best. For us and our amazing fan base. Again, we truly appreciate all of you.”

Thank you,

Gene Hoglan

“To our Kick Ass Fans:

It has come to my attention that shows are being booked and promises being made in the name of Dark Angel and some of it’s former members. No one as far as I know, has been given authority to speak for or conduct business on behalf of Dark Angel, myself or any other Ex member. Not to mention making any promises regarding the future of the band. There are other Ex members who would love to be Involved in this if it is done correctly! And protect our Legacy!

I and others behind the scenes here have asked other ex members many times to stop the postings on Face Book, other web sites, and doing interviews regarding the future of the band. But it continues…. This is all premature. There have been NO rehearsals yet, and little if any face-to-face meetings. But we are talking about 2014!

I’m all for a guy doing an interview and talking about his glory days with the band. But if you start making unapproved statements about the future of the Band? You’re off course!

When I was last in the band Ron Rinehart was my singer. And IF the band were to come back and continue. he would STILL be my singer. He was our Rock when we needed him and there is NO WAY I would do this without him. He and I talk daily and are as close now as ever. If anything all this talk has brought us all back into more frequent contact! Which is a wonderful thing.

I wish the very best for any ex DA member in their endeavors. In fact I encourage them to write their own music come up with their own band name and get out there and play! But to lead the fans to believe anyone other than RON would be fronting Dark Angel, and that this band will be allowed to do anything without its Key Members just is not true.

The Legend cannot truly “Return” unless the KEY members are on board!

I look forward to 2014. And I believe we can make some special things happen!”

Jim Durkin

“In regards to Dark Angel and the present situation: Dark Angel has at no time given any authorization to any of our former members to book shows, personal appearances etc. Any shows promises, personal appearances etc. Fall under the responsibility of the individual who made those promises not Dark Angel the music group.

Dark Angel believes in providing our incredible fans with the best show that we can possibly deliver, as well as protecting our valued legacy.

Any future statements will come from Dark Angel or our management.”

– Ron Rinehart

“I just want to make a statement about the possibility of a Dark Angel reunion. It is true that we are talking about doing a run next year, but we are still in the early stages of this discussion.   We all plan to sit down together in the near future and reconnect and jam a bit. I’m looking forward to seeing the guys again.  We will keep you posted as things develop.  I can’t emphasize enough that this is just discussing a reunion.  I have not agreed to any appearances yet.  Hopefully, things will work out.

I am currently playing in VIKING, as most of you know, our new album titled, “No Child Left Behind,” will be dropping very soon. I am very excited about this band and album. It is the first album Gene and I have played together on since Time Does Not Heal and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. It’s brutal!

In closing, I just want to thank everyone for their support and friendship.  Hopefully I’ll be seeing you on the road very soon!”

About Valkyjra:
Valkyrja is a concept album with a story line based loosely around an anonymous Viking age warrior who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to Fólkvangr, the home of Freyja—the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. One can say the album is also indirectly about women and how they affect men and what men will do to impress and obtain women. Front man and founder Heri Joensen goes on to explain; “the woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women.”

TÝR will be on tour September – October with Finntroll in Europe. Dates are available below as well as at facebook.com/tyrband.

About: Toronto, Canada’s high-energy, modern thrash monsters Fatality have been cranking out wise-cracking, beer-drenched nightmares together since 2003. Known for their wild, riotous live performances and their peerless work ethic, they have been independently booking and promoting their own shows, creating great merch, touring North America, and making some great tunes along the way. Few bands embody the DIY spirit as fully as Fatality consistently do, and no other bands have as much fun working their asses off.

Fatality’s debut effort, Beers From The Grave, was an irreverent, horror-themed album that eschewed seriousness in favour of hard living and good times. Decibel Magazine quipped that, on Beers From The Grave,

“solos fly with reckless abandon, the bass is audible and practically so are the beers being cracked open. These guys must have awesome parties.”

Hellbound.ca stated that Fatality are “a bundle of crass, explosive, obnoxiously positive energy spewing beer and shrapnel.” Part homage to classic zombie apocalypse horror and part retro-thrash ruckus, Beers From The Grave was an exciting, riotously messy debut.

fatality - thoughts collide (official music video)

After supporting Beers From The Grave with East coast Canadian tours, and being invited to share the stage with the likes of Exodus, Municipal Waste, Holy Grail and Razor, the thrash rockers went back to the studio and emerged with still more new material. Three rough-and-tumble, irresistibly catchy singles — “T.F.E.S.”, “Uppercut” and “Hammerfist” — were bundled together as a free EP. While most bands would have simply released a free record and called it a day, Fatality supported their singles with North American tours, winning hearts, destroying livers and splitting eardrums along the way. After those adventures, Fatality went into a period of hiatus. They emerged from this creative cocoon and re-instated their original drummer, Mason LeVon (brother to guitarist and vocalist Spencer LeVon, who replaced longtime friend and skinsman Andrew Suarez), and new musical vision. In early 2012, the band began writing a brand-new full-length, ‘Psychonaut’, unquestionably their most ambitious project to date.

GWAR Confirm 2014 Soundwave Festival Appearance

Fresh off their highly successful and best GWAR-B-Q yet, your lords and masters have announced that they will be conquering yet another festival. That’s right everyone’s favorite Scumdogs, GWAR will be returning to the land down under to wreak havoc and make sweet Kangaroo love with the locals. The first show is Saturday February 22 in Brisbane, followed by shows in Syndey, Melbourne and Adelaide before wrapping up Monday March 3 in Perth.

“Considering it was twice as big as last year’s 2012 GWAR-B-Q and about eight times as slaughter-ific, your Lords and Masters, the mighty GWAR, are semi-satisfied, said lead singer Oderus Urungus, who was contacted at this Antarctican fortress.

“The sheer amount of carnage influcted… I mean I saw whole families just wiped out in the savage glee of the Pit of the GWAR-B-Q, willingly screaming as their bodies were pulped by our giant meat grinder. Every drop of GWAR Beer and GWAR B-Q Sauce was consumed, and all the bands ruled! And loyal bohab Goldmember repeated as Spew-O-Lympic champion it was far and away the greatest GWAR-B-Q yet.”

“Now on to our new album Battle Maximus, the new GWAR album, featuring the debut of new Scumdog, Pustulus Maximus. A new era of GWAR has begun. Hail FLATTUS, Hail GWAR, tell all of your friends that missed the 2013 GWAR-B-Q that they fucked up!”

On playing the Soundwave Festival Oderus said:

“We can’t wait to come back to Australia as part of the colossal Soundwave Festival. Now if we could only figure out how to get there, if we swim, on Gor-Gor’s back, we should be able to decimate Asia nicely.”

GWAR recently announced the first leg of their massive “Madness at the Core of Time” world tour, in support of their new album, Battle Maximus. The tour features a completely brand-new show full of slavering creatures and deserving victims.

GWAR shall be joined by deathcore heavyweights and label-mates Whitechapel, Richmond, VA thrashers Iron Reagan (featuring Municipal Waste singer Tony Foresta) and A Band of Orcs (who are actually a band of Orcs).

GWAR has teamed up with VICE to drop the next tasty morsel from Battle Maximus on your pointy little heads. HERE – read an exclusive interview with Oderus and to hear the premiere of the song Bloodbath.

GWAR is set to release Battle Maximus their 13th studio album, and their first since legendary Scumdog Flattus Maximus returned to the stars to fulfill his cosmic destiny. The album will be available September 17 via Metal Blade Records. Check out the first track, “Madness at the Core of Time” on The Welding Room radio program and pre-order your copy of Battle Maximus HERE. GWAR’s Battle Maximus features twelve brand new tracks that not only honor their departed ally, but tells the story of GWAR’s latest struggle against what may be their greatest enemy yet… the insidious Mr. Perfect, who has travelled through time itself to steal the power of GWAR — the power of immortality, and use this power to mutate the human race into his twisted vision of what the “perfect” human should be. Once again GWAR finds themselves as the only thing standing between the human race and the latest super-powered shithead bent on the destruction of GWAR and the enslavement of their worshippers.

Masterminded by Michael Bjella, GOG has toiled in the underground noise community for a decade, releasing records that have been widely respected and regarded as essential in experimental/noise/soundscape circles.

On the band, Michael Bjella states:

“I started GOG to explore the darker sides of thought and life. I want to create things without restriction and form that can transport people and possibly make them confront their own fears. Things that are truly dark but have contrast. To borrow a line from one of my favorite artists, in case there might be harmony, then it is the harmony of accident, of chaos. I’m not trying to make harmony… ”

EREB ALTOR To Release New Album in North America

Ereb Altor have announced that they will be releasing their latest album, “Fire Meets Ice,” in North America on October 15th on Metal Blade Records. The album was previously released via Cyclone Empire on July 26th throughout Europe. The Swedish trio, known for their melodic Viking metal mixed with elements of Bathory, Candlemass, etc; have previously released three full-length albums – “By Honour” in 2008, “The End” in 2010, and “Gastrike” in 2012. With “Fire Meets Ice,” it remains evident that Ereb Altor’s strength lies with their ability to meld black metal with the melodic tendencies with which fans would most associate the “viking” metal label. Fans can hear for themselves with the lyric video for “Nifleheim” at metalblade.com/erebaltor.

About “Fire Meets Ice“:
In 2012, it was time for a change of direction and pace. Viking Black Metal in the vein of early Bathory. Ragnar and Mats turn to a more aggressive musical direction when composing for Ereb Altor. On the album “Gastrike”, the Swedes present the listeners with a matured sound, but at the same time with a higher level of brutality and aggressiveness than on the highly acclaimed predecessor “The End”. Therefore, Ereb Altor’s sound also became closely tied to the legendary early works of Bathory. The epic hymns were enriched with a good portion of black metal elements, comprising of furious blast beats, thundering double-bass and aggressive vocal parts. “Gastrike” was a concept album and told tales, myths and ghost stories quite dark and the change of sound was necessary to reflect the lyrics in the right way.

However, the Swedes have not forgotten their traditional elements. Hypnotic melodies and sweeping parts will be present again on the new Opus “Fire Meets Ice” that will see the light of day the summer of 2013. On this new album which will be unleashed by Cyclone Empire in Europe and Metal Blade Records in North America Ereb Altor will summon the Norse Gods again and take the best parts from each sound of Ereb Altor’s history to create a varied masterpiece.

Ereb Altor:
Ragnar – Vocals, Guitar, Bass
Mats – Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Keys
Tord – Drums

KILL DIVISION Launch New Song, Album Pre-Orders

The newly formed death metal group, Kill Division, composed of Richard Ebisch (guitars, bass, vocals), Susan Gerl (guitars, vocals) and Roel Sanders (drums), have finally unveiled new music from their upcoming album, “Destructive Force.” The first single, “Locked Up Forever,” was written by Gerl, who penned the lyrics for the entire record. The song was written about Natascha Kampusch, an Austrian woman who was held prisoner and tormented in a cellar for over eight years. The story made headlines in 2006 worldwide. Fans can hear “Locked Up Forever” now at metalblade.com/killdivision.

Destructive Force was recorded at Toneshed studio, the place they called home for many late nights, and mixed and mastered in Andy Classen‘s Stage One studio with hammer, care, and kerosene.

Musically, Destructive Force represents the group’s collective efforts. When the band first began rehearsing, they used some of Richard Ebisch’s old recordings as a starting point. Ebisch clarifies that they “had some very old recordings we used as a starting point for the first two or three songs, but changed and omitted riffs together. After the first three songs had been written that way, Susan and I started writing different, new riffs and combined them into songs.” Drummer Roel Sanders also added to the album, either by simply humming riffs, or rearranging song structures. In any case, Ebisch states clearly that “this entire album was written in the rehearsal room as a band process to which each band member contributed equally.”

Both Richard Ebisch and Susan Gerl tracked the vocals for Destructive Force. This is something neither guitarist had done in the past. Gerl comments, “recording the vocals was initially a challenge for us since we are first and foremost guitarists. Neither of us had any experience with singing that long and that much and recording our vocals this way. I used to do some additional vocals with my previous bands but had never recorded any vocals for a full length CD. But we were really well-prepared and had practiced our singing extensively beforehand. The recordings went smoothly and we are really happy with the way our voices sound on the album.”

On Destructive Force, expect a practiced, precise, and mercilessly heavy attack from three veterans of the European death metal scene!
