Metal Blade Records Announce New MONTE PITTMAN Album

The Power of Three, the upcoming full-length album from award winning, chart topping guitarist, MONTE PITTMAN is set for release on January 21, 2014 through Metal Blade Records.

The first single, ‘A Dark Horse‘, is currently streaming at metalblade.com/montepittman where fans can also check out the first of five demonstration videos filmed at Orange Amplification‘s studios where Monte filmed a series of high quality videos demonstrating ALL Orange Amplification products.

‘A Dark Horse’, the first single from Monte’s third album, reflects Monte’s return to his metal roots while demonstrating his Orange gear sound and tone to perfection. Flemming Rasmussen, famous for Metallica’s seminal album ‘Master Of Puppets’, produced the album, The Power Of Three, which is hard and heavy and follows on from Monte’s highly successful, critically acclaimed second album Pain, Love & Destiny, which reached number one in both the rock and pop charts.

Artist Cam Rackam created the artwork for the cover of The Power of Three. The piece features a portrait of Charon, the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead. This represents Monte’s musical journey from what he has done before and where he is now with The Power of Three and beyond.

The first single ‘A Dark Horse’ is also available now as an iTunes single HERE and features artwork created by Gustav Klimt (used with kind permission) titled ‘The Golden Knight (Life Is A Struggle)’. It is a textured, symbolic painting which tells a similar story as the music does.

Tracklisting:
1. A Dark Horse
2. Delusions of Grandeur
3. Everything’s Undone
4. Blood Hungry Thirst
5. On My Mind
6. Away from Here
7. Before the Mourning Son
8. End of the World
9. Missing
10. All Is Fair in Love and War

About Monte Pittman:
Born and raised in Longview, TX, Monte Pittman made the decision at 24 to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a professional musician, and unfortunately having to leave his family, friends, and band Myra Mains behind. Upon arrival in LA, he made ends meet by working at a local music store. Realizing he was better at teaching than selling, he left to start providing guitar lessons.

As fate would have it, his third student would end up being British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, who had just received a guitar from his then girlfriend, Madonna. Soon after, Monte was introduced to the iconic performer, and became her guitar teacher as well. A month later, Monte was invited to join Madonna on stage at the David Letterman Show to promote her album, “Music.”

Monte has since played guitar on all of Madonna’s live tours and albums, starting with the 2001 Drowned World Tour, and shares writing credits on some of her songs. Monte has also played guitar for the band Prong. He is credited with co-writing songs on “Scorpio Rising” and “Power of the Damager” to which he also added backing vocals and bass. He also played guitar on Prong’s live album “100% Live.”

In November 2009, Monte released his debut acoustic solo album, “The Deepest Dark.” Almost a year after its release, a special bonus version of “The Deepest Dark” was released and immediately reached the No. 1 spot on the Best-Selling Acoustic Albums list at CD-Baby.com. It was also No. 9 in the Top 10 Best-Selling CDs for the Fall of 2010. In 2011, Monte launched a Kickstarter campaign for his second album, “Pain, Love & Destiny”. It raised a staggering $65,500, making him the top rock musician to raise the most money on the crowd-funding platform at that time. Monte met his initial goal of $5,000 in under 24 hours. It was released later that year and within its first week made it to No. 1 Rock Album, No. 1 Pop Album, and made it onto the Top 10 Albums chart on CD Baby. In addition, it cracked the iTunes Top 200.

Monte performed at the 2012 Super Bowl with Madonna and toured around the world on the MDNA Tour. He also performed at the 2012 Artists In Music Awards where he was given an award for Best Solo Artist in addition to being nominated in four other categories. Monte has also been honored with a Career Achievement Award from the Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards. The Los Angeles Music Awards nominated him for Best Male Singer/Songwriter and Best Modern Rock Album for “Pain, Love, & Destiny”.

In November of last year, “M.P.3: The Power Of Three, Pt. 1” was released. It’s a stripped down acoustic EP marking the beginning of Monte and Flemming Rasmussen’s working relationship.

In 2013, Pittman, along with band members Kane Ritchotte on drums and Max Whipple on bass, went to Copenhagen to record the upcoming album with producer Flemming Rasmussen. This marks Monte’s return to heavy music.

Thy Kingdom Scum” was written and recorded by Tatsu Mikami, Junji Narita, Ikume Kawabe, and Hideki Fukasawa and features the return of the band’s original vocalist, Hideki Fukasawa. The album has been praised as one of the best doom releases of 2013, with Decibel Magazine declaring it has “some of the wickedest doom grooves since Black Sabbath 40 years ago… it’s resounding proof that no one right now-not even the reunited Sabbath with a newly wound-up Ozzy-can come close to the gargantuan swing of the mighty Church of Misery.”

Terrorizer Magazine adds that “Thy Kingdom Scum” is a “very welcome return of Hideki Fukasawa on vocals (and synth too)… reaching Anselmo-like drawling lows.”

SPRUNG MONKEY Return with New Album On November 26

Hot off the heels of a string of sold-out shows supporting Strung Out and Unwritten Law in Southern California, San Diego hard rock outfit Sprung Monkey has announced they will release their new album “Dead Is Dead” on November 26, 2013 on Pacific Records.
The current incarnation of Sprung Monkey consists of vocalist Steve Summers, bassist Tony DeLocht, drummer Ernie Longoria, as well as guitarists Mike Summers and William ‘Chuck’ Riley. The band will be hitting the road later this fall in support of the new album throughout November and December.
“We wanted to create a full firing, high energy record that we could take to the stage and play start to finish. No filler, no fluff,” said Sprung Monkey frontman Steve Summers.
“Having self-produced this it is a true representation of what we wanted to create, and we had no outside influences with their diluting suggestions. Things feel fresh and alive right now and the excitement towards the future of Sprung Monkey is infectious.”
From the early days of selling CD’s out of their trunk to their breakout success on MTV, Sprung Monkey has kept true to their heavy, hypnotic sound. Through the years, Sprung Monkey have become a staple in the extreme and action sports world, appearing on ESPN’s X-Games and contributing tunes to countless surf, skate, and snowboarding films, which opened up opportunities that have included major tours and festivals in United States, Europe, and Australia. The band’s relentless work ethic and tour schedule earned them spots on the Van’s Warped Tour, a slot at the world famous KROQ’s Weenie Roast, film and television placements, and an appearance on the Conan O’Brian Show.
Over the past few years the guys have been exploring, growing and focusing their musical talents to write some of their best music to date which continues to fuel and embrace the classic Spring Monkey sound and the California lifestyle that their music embodies.
