GWAR Endorse Super Bowl Halftime Show Petition

After a week and over 35,000 signatures, Antarctic overlords GWAR finally have officially reacted to the petition started by Jeff Cantrell of Morehead, Kentucky on Change.org to have GWAR play the Super Bowl Halftime Show.  The petition can be signed at Change.org/GWARBOWL.

“It has long been the joy of GWAR to submit the human race to any number of hideous tortures, and I can’t think of anything more horrible than you having to watch acts like The Black-Eyed Peas and Bruno Mars perform. So the temptation to ignore this is great! But then you start thinking about all of the people that who have never experienced GWAR before, and will be forced to do so if we do get the gig, well, at that point my colossal mega-ego kicks in and I am all over it.”

After a long and wet fart, Oderus continued…

“I really don’t think we should be limited to playing the halftime show… I am offering GWAR as an actual team that could complete in the NFL. Think of the titanic struggle involved as the NFL submits their best players, hell, we could play against all the teams at once and still emerge victorious. For too long has the NFL ignored the obvious fact that the players should be naked, blind-folded and armed with battle axes, that land mines should litter the field and whalers should hurl harpoons randomly from the stands. GWAR is throwing our entire cosmic weight (and we are fairly hefty) behind this petition, and command all of our followers, their families, and indeed anybody who has ever existed to sign this fucking thing, and in fact for those who have already signed it to create multiple fake email addresses and sign it again!”

And now to top it all off, today GWAR is ready to bring everyone a little holiday cheer with a select number of shows this December. That’s right it’s Christmas Time with Santa Oderus.  These three shows are set for December 27 in New York at Irving Plaza, December 28 in New Haven, CT at Toad’s Place and finally a show in Richmond, VA on December 29 at The National.  Tickets for all three shows go on sale this Friday.

In support of Battle Maximus, GWAR will be heading out this fall on the “Madness at the Core of Time” tour. The tour, which features a completely brand-new show full of slavering creatures and deserving victims, is set to kick off October 2 in Columbus, Ohio and runs through November 17 in Washington, DC. GWAR shall be joined by deathcore heavyweights and label-mates Whitechapel, Richmond, VA thrashers Iron Reagan (featuring Municipal Waste singer Tony Foresta) and A Band of Orcs (who are actually a band of Orcs).

The title track from Battle Maximus is streaming HERE.

GWAR Battle Maximus Available Today

The day has finally arrived. Your lords and masters GWAR have unleashed their 13th and most devastating album to date Battle Maximus. The album can be ordered from Metal Blade Records HEREAmazon and iTunes.

In celebration of the album’s release, GuitarWorld.com the online home of Guitar World Magazine, is hosting an exclusive stream of the instrumental title Track “Battle Maximus”. Check out the song HERE.

Tonight in Richmond, VA at Balliceaux there will be a Battle Maximus release party. The party starts at 8:00 PM and will feature appearances by Oderus Urungus and guitarist Pustulous Maximus. Battle Maximus will be blasting in its entirety, there will be free posters and fans can pick up their copy of the new album for $5.

Continuing their media onslaught, GWAR front thing Oderus Urungus appeared on the Dan Patrick Show yesterday to talk football, the new album and as the case with Oderus a whole lot more. The interview with Oderus, Dan Patrick and Jamey Jasta can be seen HERE.

GWAR will be heading out this fall on the “Madness at the Core of Time” tour. The tour, which features a completely brand-new show full of slavering creatures and deserving victims, is set to kick off October 2nd in Columbus, Ohio and runs through November 17th in Washington, DC. GWAR shall be joined by deathcore heavyweights and label-mates Whitechapel, Richmond, VA thrashers Iron Reagan (featuring Municipal Waste singer Tony Foresta) and A Band of Orcs (who are actually a band of Orcs).

Check out a stream of the song “Bloodbath” HERE.

GWAR’s Battle Maximus features twelve brand new tracks that not only honor their departed ally, but tells the story of GWAR’s latest struggle against what may be their greatest enemy yet…the insidious “Mr. Perfect”, who has travelled through time itself to steal the power of GWAR–the power of immortality, and use this power to mutate the human race into his twisted vision of what the “perfect” human should be. Once again GWAR finds themselves as the only thing standing between the human race and the latest super-powered shithead bent on the destruction of GWAR and the enslavement of their worshippers.

Most GWAR fans know the “Battle Maximus” was the sonic war of fratricide waged by the Maximus clan against themselves in order to choose a successor worthy to follow in Flattus’ clawprints, and was recorded as a song on the new album. Every GWAR fan knows that the awesome Pustulus Maximus triumphed in this struggle. But what most don’t know was the stellar line-up of additional guitarists that contributed solos to this blistering instrumental track. These included Lamb of God’s Mark Duane Morton (who played under the pseudonym “Tyrone Die Tuefel”), Ol Drake from Evile (Twatticus Maximus), and Todd Evans of Mobile Death Camp (also an ex-GWAR member, who for many years played Beefcake the Mighty and contributed to this work under the name Skookum Maximus).

But the biggest outside contribution came from Zach Blair of Rise Against (who had played the character of Flattus before Cory Smoot, and took to this project under the name “Splattus Maximus”. Zach flew into Richmond to GWAR’s “Slave Pit Studios” several times, did much of the writing and arrangement on the record, and finally recorded tons of completely shredding guitar.

Said Zach, “It was so great to re-connect with this family of mine and be reminded of what a great, hard working institution GWAR really is. This organization defines the term “DIY”. If they want to see something or use something that just doesn’t exist, they make it! It’s inspiring to be around and in the ten years since my tenure with them I’d forgotten what a force it is to be reckoned with. I’m so proud of them and I’m so proud of this record.. This record is many things to me a musical send-off and tribute to the late, great Cory Smoot (in the manner of which he would have liked it!) and an extension of my own contribution to this amazing cultural, artistic and musical statement. I’m forever proud to say “I PLAYED IN GWAR!!”

GWAR Confirm 2014 Soundwave Festival Appearance

Fresh off their highly successful and best GWAR-B-Q yet, your lords and masters have announced that they will be conquering yet another festival. That’s right everyone’s favorite Scumdogs, GWAR will be returning to the land down under to wreak havoc and make sweet Kangaroo love with the locals. The first show is Saturday February 22 in Brisbane, followed by shows in Syndey, Melbourne and Adelaide before wrapping up Monday March 3 in Perth.

“Considering it was twice as big as last year’s 2012 GWAR-B-Q and about eight times as slaughter-ific, your Lords and Masters, the mighty GWAR, are semi-satisfied, said lead singer Oderus Urungus, who was contacted at this Antarctican fortress.

“The sheer amount of carnage influcted… I mean I saw whole families just wiped out in the savage glee of the Pit of the GWAR-B-Q, willingly screaming as their bodies were pulped by our giant meat grinder. Every drop of GWAR Beer and GWAR B-Q Sauce was consumed, and all the bands ruled! And loyal bohab Goldmember repeated as Spew-O-Lympic champion it was far and away the greatest GWAR-B-Q yet.”

“Now on to our new album Battle Maximus, the new GWAR album, featuring the debut of new Scumdog, Pustulus Maximus. A new era of GWAR has begun. Hail FLATTUS, Hail GWAR, tell all of your friends that missed the 2013 GWAR-B-Q that they fucked up!”

On playing the Soundwave Festival Oderus said:

“We can’t wait to come back to Australia as part of the colossal Soundwave Festival. Now if we could only figure out how to get there, if we swim, on Gor-Gor’s back, we should be able to decimate Asia nicely.”

GWAR recently announced the first leg of their massive “Madness at the Core of Time” world tour, in support of their new album, Battle Maximus. The tour features a completely brand-new show full of slavering creatures and deserving victims.

GWAR shall be joined by deathcore heavyweights and label-mates Whitechapel, Richmond, VA thrashers Iron Reagan (featuring Municipal Waste singer Tony Foresta) and A Band of Orcs (who are actually a band of Orcs).

GWAR has teamed up with VICE to drop the next tasty morsel from Battle Maximus on your pointy little heads. HERE – read an exclusive interview with Oderus and to hear the premiere of the song Bloodbath.

GWAR is set to release Battle Maximus their 13th studio album, and their first since legendary Scumdog Flattus Maximus returned to the stars to fulfill his cosmic destiny. The album will be available September 17 via Metal Blade Records. Check out the first track, “Madness at the Core of Time” on The Welding Room radio program and pre-order your copy of Battle Maximus HERE. GWAR’s Battle Maximus features twelve brand new tracks that not only honor their departed ally, but tells the story of GWAR’s latest struggle against what may be their greatest enemy yet… the insidious Mr. Perfect, who has travelled through time itself to steal the power of GWAR — the power of immortality, and use this power to mutate the human race into his twisted vision of what the “perfect” human should be. GWAR B-Q IS ON, RAIN OR SHINE!

Spew-O-Lympics Contestants List and a Ton of Other Stuff About upcoming GWAR-B-Q Announced

GWAR B-Q IS ON, RAIN OR SHINE, 8/17 @ HADAD’S WATER PARK IN RICHMOND, VA

With the biggest, sickest, most debauched party of the summer drawing inexorably closer, Slave Pit Inc. today released “a butt-load” of last-minute details about their 4th annual “GWAR-B-Q”, to be held Sat., Aug. 17th at Hadad’s Water Park in Richmond, Va. The event will be held RAIN OR SHINE. Nothing short of nuclear holocaust can stop GWAR, and even that is highly debatable… the GWAR B-Q is on, NO MATTER WHAT!!!

As far as tickets are concerned please pay close attention– everybody who bought an e-ticket online must have a hard copy of EACH TICKET for entry– that means following all the links provided in the email that was sent to you and printing a hard copy of every ticket. That means if you bought more than one ticket, you must have copies for every individual ticket purchased, so be sure to follow every link and print everything you can. YOU MUST HAVE HARD COPIES OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL TICKET IN ORDER TO GAIN ADMITTANCE. Klar? Klar! That’s “clear” for us Americans.

Deluxe ticket sales have ended, but official GWAR-B-Q 2013 t-shirts will be available for purchase at the event. There will also be raffle tickets available at the merch booth with your chance to win any number of a host of valuable prizes. (See Below) There will be no weapons, pets, video cameras or glass allowed anywhere within Hadads, and backpacks and coolers will be checked by Hadad’s security at the gate. Remember GWAR fans, we are guests at Hadads, and if we want to continue this fine tradition we must respects the perfectly reasonable requests of our host… plus GWAR commands it!

No effort has been spared to make this the most spectacular GWAR B-Q yet, and this year that includes providing the faithful GWAR fans with a skate park truly worthy of a GWAR B-Q. A legion of slaves has been laboring ceaselessly to create it, and their efforts are a complete GO, featuring a half-pipe, ¼ pipes, a fun box (whatever the hell that is), grind rails, and finally a bike launch ramp, supplied by FBM Bike Co. These are all open to the public so bring your skate, bike, or rocket-sled.

Of course the memory of GWAR’s departed Scumdog brother, Flattus Maximus, will always be with us, and many flagons of GWAR BEER (brewed especially for the GWAR B-Q by Tampa‘s Cigar City Brewery) will be hoisted to honor his legend. There will be a special “Flattus Shrine” booth set up full of Smoot shirts and music, and all proceeds garnered here will go straight to the Smoot Family Fund.

Finally, there will be a car pool available for anybody that gets too loopy to pilot their vehicle. This does not mean for you to drive your car into the pool, it means you can get a free ride if you are too wasted. The safety of our fans and other humans is of the highest priority for the Slave-Pit, so your soul can be saved for GWAR’s to do with as they please. Please check the schedules at http://www.gwarbq.com or 2BNB.org or in order to ensure everybody has a accident-free GWAR-B-Q experience.

Spew-Lympian Ian Hussey demonstrates part of grueling training ritual

Slave Pit also announced the participants in this years Spew-O-Lympics, the second time the GWAR-B-Q has hosted this semi-aquatic flail-fest. Contestants were required to submit a short essay on why they felt they should be considered to participate in this hallowed event, the top selections being picked by the band themselves (in a completely random manner).

“We are pleased not only to announce the winners, but are also surprised that forty of our fans could actually write a semi-coherent collection of words, let alone string them together in a coherent fashion,” said GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus.

“For this effort they will be allowed to flail, flop, and flagellate themselves in front of a jeering crowd, as they are pelted with garbage… all for valuable prizes!”

To get the full listing of the winners on the band’s official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/gwar, or the official GWAR B-Q website at http://www.gwarbq.com. The contestants must get to the registration area (near the merch booth) as quickly as possible after doors open at 10:30, in order to get their nickname and number and prepare for the first event, which starts promptly at 12:30.

A sampling of some of the amazing prizes available — and yes, that is a real guitar

The prize packages are full of valuable GWAR merchandise, though it looks like our grand prize, the “S.S. Boat” may have exploded and sank in an unexplained accident that “killed a lot of guys.”

“It’s a complete tragedy,” said eyewitness James Nasium.

“My car got dirty.”

Unfortunately, the organizers of the event are sad to announce the cancellation of the band LOINCLOTH from the days festivities. Guitar player Tannon Penland and members of his family were involved in a serious, but non-life threatening automobile accident, that will make it impossible for the band to perform. Said injured band member Tannon Penland from his hospital bed…

Loincloth guitar player Tannon Penland

“I am truly fucking bummed between doses of morphine and dilaudid that Loincloth cannot be slaughtering alongside our many mighty brothers, mutants, and sisters at this year’s GWAR-B-Q. We shall return!”

There is no word yet as to whether or not the empty slot will be filled.

Rain or shine, it’s all systems GO for this years most debauched gathering of the summer and the greatest GWAR-B-Q in history. See all of you faithful bohabs there at Hadad’s, Aug. 17th, 2013! HAIL FLATTUS, HAIL THE BOHABS… AND HAIL GWAR!!!

GWAR Announces Gigantic Fall Tour in Support of New Album

Masters of medieval metal, the mighty GWAR, are poised to return to the world of man as today they announced the first leg of their massive “Madness at the Core of Time” world tour, in support of their new album, Battle Maximus, which is out September 17th on Metal Blade Records. The tour features a completely brand-new show full of slavering creatures and deserving victims. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 2nd.

Said verbose front-thing Oderus Urungus,

“Our loyal slaves have been laboring ceaselessly to create the ultimate GWAR show, and for this they have received nothing but abuse and torment. I know our legions of loyal fans will be delighted to experience a whole new cast of ridiculous characters, all of whom shall meet exceedingly messy ends to the soundtrack of slaughter that our new album shall provide. Get ready world… GWAR is coming!”

GWAR shall be joined by deathcore heavyweights and label-mates Whitechapel, Richmond, VA thrashers Iron Reagan (featuring Municipal Waste singer Tony Foresta) and A Band of Orcs (who are actually a band of Orcs). The tour comes after an intense lead-up period, which featured the debut of a GWAR beer and GWAR B-Q sauce, several mini-tours and convention appearances, the second season of Oderus on FEAR.net‘s sitcom HOLLISTON, and finally the fourth annual GWAR-B-Q. Tickets and more information on the GWAR-B-Q can be found athttp://www.gwarbq.com

Overlord Oderus Urungus allowed Whitechapel guitarist Alex Wade to comment on the tour:

“We’re extremely excited to announce that we will be direct supporting the almighty GWAR this fall. The tour will be hitting some spots we haven’t been in a while and we’re looking forward to having a blast on tour with them so come out and get GWAR‘ed with us!”

Of course Oderus had more to say (when doesn’t he?).

“Let me make something perfectly clear. DON’T commit suicide if your city/country/collection of mud-huts isn’t on the list. We can’t play every city in the world in one tour, as much as we would like to. There will be a whole year or more of shows in support of Battle Maximus, so either be patient, or take a fucking road trip!”

Battle Maximus is GWAR‘s 13th studio album, and their first since legendary Scumdog Flattus Maximus returned to the stars to fulfill his cosmic destiny. Check out the first track, Madness at the Core of Time on The Welding Room and pre-order your copy of Battle Maximus HERE.

GWAR‘s Battle Maximus features twelve brand new tracks that not only honor their departed ally, but tells the story of GWAR‘s latest struggle against what may be their greatest enemy yet…the insidious “Mr.
