LESBIAN Streaming Full Album

LESBIAN‘s third full length offering and Translation Loss debut Forestelevison is a single song, 44+ minute all-encompassing force of nature! Never has an album sifted through the deepest trenches of prog-influenced epic-doom and blackened metal to produce such an awe-inspiring aural assault to the senses. Recorded at Avast! Studios with long time producing collaborator Randall Dunn (Wolves in the Throne Room, Earth, Boris) and featuring gorgeous artwork by Arik Roper, Forestelevison will see a June 25 release on CD (Digipack), Digital and 2xLP. The 2xLP version will come housed in deluxe gatefold packaging and include an exclusive Vinyl-only extended outro-bonus track! The album is available for pre-order HERE.

Over the past weeks, LESBIAN teamed up with different outlets to premiere segments of their new opus Forestelevsion. The album is presented as a whole for the first time online courtesy of CVLT Nation HERE.

Consisting of guitarists Arran McInnis and Daniel La Rochelle, bassist/vocalist Dorando Hodous and drummer Benjamin Thomas-Kennedy, LESBIAN has grown accustomed to composing lengthy eclectic journeys that take the listener through myriad genres ranging anywhere from doom to prog to psyche to 70s rock to black metal to grunge and beyond. Forestelevison continues LESBIAN’S music genre-defying journey from their prior full-length on Holy Mountain Records called Power Hor, a split 10″ with Ocean on Roadburn Records, a self-released two song tour EP, and a second full-length on Important Records called Stratospheria Cubensis.

PIG DESTROYER Release Never Before Heard EP

*NEWS RELEASE from March 4:

Grindcore Masters PIG DESTROYER released a never before heard EP entitled Mass & Volume. This EP is dedicated to the memory of Pat Egan and to the loving family he left behind. The EP is a Doom EP and the artwork was created by Arik Roper. The EP is available for purchase at http://patlapse.bandcamp.com/album/mass-volume. This is the only format that this EP is available in and all proceeds of this recording will be donated to the college fund of Pat Egan’s daughter Katie.

The band spoke about Pat and the EP release:

“Pat Egan was a friend and a keystone member of the Relapse family for many of the years we have been involved with it. He devoted his life to supporting underground music and he immeasurably helped develop the bands he worked with. His untimely passing on February 18, 2013 shocked the many people that his life and work had touched.”

This EP was written and recorded during the final day of the Phantom Limb sessions with unexpected extra studio time and resources. In the following years, with Natasha being released on its own and Brian no longer being in the band, our intentions of releasing Mass & Volume basically evaporated. However, looking back now, Mass & Volume serves as a great epilogue to that particular era of the band.

Less than 2 weeks ago Relapse Records released Patlapse in honor of the man who was so instrumental in the success of so many Relapse bands and records, the label has put together a 20 track compilation featuring a collection of his favorite songs and artists, including Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Brian Posehn, Red Fang, Death, and many more, including a never-before-released track from Exhumed.

100% of proceeds from the compilation will go towards a college fund for his young daughter Katie. Relapse thanks each band for contributing each track and waiving their royalty fee to maximize the benefit for Pat’s beloved family. The compilation is available via Bandcamp at this location for only $5 but friends and fans are welcome to donate as much as they want. Direct contributions may also be made via paypal to wellmissyoupat@relapse.com.

A memorial event for Pat was held on Tuesday March 5 at Idle Hands Bar in New York, NY. All proceeds from the event went directly to his daughter Katie’s college fund. More information on the event can be found HERE.

CATHEDRAL Stream New Single, Unveil Album Cover Art

Cathedral’s The Last Spire will be released in North America on April 30, 2013. Recorded at Orgone Studios in London, produced by Lee Dorrian and Garry Jennings with assistance, mixing by Jamie Gomez Arellano and art by Dave Patchett and Arik Roper, The Last Spire will stand as the band’s final effort. The first single to be released, Tower of Silence, can be heard now at metalblade.com/cathedral.

And lo, Lee Dorrian, mouthpiece of Cathedral for 23 years, doth solemnly intone the death rites of this mighty British metal Titan. Born in the dying days of Thatcher’s Britain, bonding over then-unfashionable, obscure names like Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Trouble and Dream Death, Cathedral’s sole ambition was to record a demo tape. In fact they revolutionized doom metal, first pushing their influences into new avenues of grinding extremity, then pioneering groovier forms of ’70s-indebted stoner doom.

Lee Dorrian adds:

“When the last mix was finally done, there was a massive sense of relief. I think this was partly due to the fact that it meant Cathedral could finally be put to rest but also because we felt we’d done something that we were all very pleased with. I feel comfortable leaving The Last Spire as our legacy.”

He continues,

“The funeral of Cathedral has been a long but gratifying process. Deciding to end the band wasn’t an easy decision to make but we knew deep down in our hearts that it was the right thing to do.”

Read the full bio, written by Chris Chantler, at metalblade.com’s Cathedral artist page HERE.

Cathedral, released their first new recorded material in three years exclusively via Decibel Magazine‘s subscriber-only Decibel Flexi Series. The song, Vengeance of the Blind Dead, can be heard in the flexi included in the March issue. The track is also streaming on Decibel’s soundcloud page: soundcloud.com/decibelmagazine. Limited quantities of the issue with the flexi can be ordered on HERE.

Additionally, Cathedral will be the featured cover story for Decibel Magazine’s May issue, on newsstands in April. The feature will highlight the band’s storied career, as well as discuss their final studio release, The Last Spire.

The Last Spire was recorded by:
Lead Vocals – Lee Dorrian
Guitars – Garry Jennings
Bass – Scott Carlson
Drums – Brian Dixon
Hammond, Mellotron, Moog & Synths – David Moore
Guest Vocals on Cathedral Of The Damned – Chris Reifert
Backing Vocals – Rosalie Cunningham
