HUNTRESS New Album Available Now

HUNTRESS generated a massive amount of buzz since the release of their debut album Spell Eater in 2012. The follow up to last year’s kill, Starbound Beast, is available now via Napalm Records. Purchase on iTunes and Amazon.

The band recently completed work on a video for their song Zenith.  Watch the video teaser HERE. The clip was directed by Phil Mucci, whose video for HIGH ON FIRE’s Fertile Green was named best video of 2012 by Revolver.

In support of the release of Starbound Beast HUNTRESS are taking part in the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. In addition to performing everyday, vocalist Jill Janus is hosting the first ever Shred-Meister guitar competition. Festival attendees can go to the Jägermeister tents on site and audition for a chance to shred for 10 seconds on the main stage. Each day, one of the 10 finalists will win a custom Jägermeister guitar from Schecter and the overall winner at the end of the tour will win a custom Jägermeister full stack and head courtesy of Peavey Electronics.

Starbound Beast was recorded at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles with famed producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front). Artwork was created once again by Vance Kelly (Slayer, Ghost B.C., Mastodon).

HUNTRESS spawned from the preternatural union of Jill Janus with underground metal bands Professor and Dark Black. They thrive on thundering drums, heavy riffs, spectral solos and catchy choruses that come from the band’s musical concoction of occult science and bong rips. HUNTRESS remains true to the roots of melodic heavy metal with a penchant for thrash, death and black metal.

AMON AMARTH Post Mini-Documentary

AMON AMARTH unveiled the first of their special three-part mini documentary titled Forging Mjölnir. Filmed and directed by Luke Daley (http://makezure.com), the up-close-and-personal clip — which includes stunning black and white nature footage and Norse artwork — celebrates the imminent release of the band’s ninth studio offering, Deceiver of the Gods.

Watch the six-and-a-half minute segment where vocalist Johan Hegg and bassist Ted Lundström elaborate on the mythological themes found within their latest epic via the band’s microsite at http://deceiver.amonamarth.com.

Not many bands can claim their ninth album as the most powerful, dynamic, and plainly aggressive of their career, but then AMON AMARTH consistently upped their game with every successive release. Having exploded onto the Swedish melodic death metal scene with 1998’s Once Sent from the Golden Hall, every album arrived bursting at the seams with power, melody and immersive storytelling centered around the richness of Norse mythology. Deceiver of the Gods captures the quintet at the peak of their powers.

“Every time we start working on new music we begin with the idea that we’re going to write the best album ever,” Hegg states.

“We knew we wanted a more aggressive, live feeling to this record but there’s no formula behind what we do. We just try to write something that takes us a step further than the last record, and is something that will excite us and our fans. Deceiver Of The Gods is the result.”

For proof, sample fourth track, Shape Shifter now streaming via Stereogum HERE.

Deceiver of the Gods was recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, and produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Opeth, Megadeth, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage). The follow-up to the band’s critically adored 2011 release, Surtur Risingoffers up ten maniacally heavy battle hymns rife with the band’s absorbing harmonies and Hegg’s commanding Viking roar. Deceiver of the Gods comes adorned with another outstanding Tom Thiel-created cover portraying a mythical battle between the Norse Gods Loki and Thor. As an added bonus, Messiah Marcolin (Candlemass) makes an appearance as guest vocalist on eighth track, Hel.

HUNTRESS Sophomore Album Details Released

HUNTRESS is back with the follow up to their buzz worthy debut album Spell Eater, which was released in 2012. The album, entitled Starbound Beast will be released on June 28 in Europe and on July 2 in North America via Napalm Records. The band recorded the album at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles, CA, working with famed producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front). The artwork for Starbound Beast was created once again by Vance Kelly (Slayer, Ghost B.C., Mastodon).

HUNTRESS recently unveiled the debut track, I Want to Fuck You to Death, co-written for singer Jill Janus by legendary Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister.

Front woman Jill Janus spoke about the collaboration:

“I met Lemmy through my former band Chelsea Girls. We’d play hard rock and metal covers featuring guest celebrities. Lemmy was already friends with the girls, so he played Ace of Spades with us and it blew my mind. We stayed in touch and would meet up at The Rainbow for drinks. So I asked him a few months back over Jack & Cokes if he’d write lyrics for a Huntress song and he said ‘Sure’. A few weeks later, I met him at the studio during Motorhead recording sessions. Lemmy handed me two pieces of notebook paper with the lyrics for I Want to Fuck You to Death. I am beyond honored. To me, this is a love song. It is the most romantic song I’ve ever heard.”

Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister also spoke of the collaboration:

“The first time I heard Jill’s voice with Chelsea Girls, it was phenomenal. I wrote these lyrics from her point of view, the Huntress. I Want to Fuck You to Death was inspired by her, written for her. I’ve always had a soft spot for her. And a hard spot too…”

The song is available as an exclusive stream on the HUNTRESS Facebook Page. When visiting the Facebook page, clicking the “like” button will enable the audio.

In support of Starbound Beast the band will be touring across North America this summer as part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.  The band will be featured on the Jagermeister Stage alongside Machine Head, Battlecross & Others. The tour kicks off June 29 in San Bernardino, CA and runs through August 4 in Dallas, TX. A complete list of dates can be found below. The band took part in the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Press Conference and performed live, check out footage HERE.

HUNTRESS was spawned from the preternatural union of Jill Janus with underground metal bands Professor and Dark Black. They thrive on thundering drums, heavy riffs, spectral solos and catchy choruses that come from the band’s musical concoction of occult science and bong rips. HUNTRESS remains true to the roots of melodic heavy metal with a penchant for thrash, death and black metal.

Titled Deceiver of the Gods, the epic offering was recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK, produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (Opeth, Megadeth, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage).
