THE OCEAN Triple DVD Slated for December Release in North America

THE OCEAN‘s highly anticipated triple-DVD release, “Collective Oblivion,” will be released one month later than originally planned. Fans will be able to buy their copies in stores and on-line on Decmber 10th. Until then, the DVD/t-shirt bundle is still available via Indiemerch HERE. Additionally, THE OCEAN’s European tour with Shining, Tides From Nebula, and Hacride began yesterday and will be the final tour featuring drummer Luc Hess and Jona Nido.

And update from THE OCEAN:

“As most of you will already know by now, Luc and Jona are leaving the band at the end of this tour. They have given us fair notice of their departure in June this year, so that we would have enough time to find replacements.”

Luc Hess comments:

“I’m getting to this point where i feel like everything I could bring to this band, i already have. And everything I learned music-wise from it can’t go any further. This is a tough decision, but i’ve been thinking this through since a while already. I have no regrets at all, it was most certainly one of the best experiences I’ve ever lived, and I am more than happy we’ve been through this together. I feel very thankful and grateful that you guys trusted me and shared these moments over the last 5 years.”

jonaJona Nido comments:

“There are obviously a ton of reasons for that to happen now. These include artistic divergence, full-time commitment to a project that isn’t 100% fulfilling anymore and other stuff like not wanting to deal with certain aspects/restrictions of what an established/touring act requires for its production and also the way things are generally working, especially on a personal level.”

Robin Staps continues:

“These guys have dedicated the time of their lives to playing live with this band, and I am grateful for sharing what has always been essentially my own vision of this band with me for almost 6 years. Jona has written great songs for “Anthropocentric”, and Luc has coined and personalized the sound of this band with his hard-hitting, creative approach to drumming. But over the past 2 years of intense touring, we have grown apart as musicians and as people, and it has gotten to a point where it was unfulfilling for everyone involved.

“A divorce usually hurts, but it always also opens up new horizons. We are happy to announce that Paul Seidel will be the new drummer in The Ocean. Paul is currently playing in War From A Harlot’s Mouth, who are going on indefinite hiatus at the end of the year, as well as in Dioramic and Wassbass. He also gives drum lessons in Berlin and knows from the experience with his own bands what it’s like to tour America, Europe and Australia. To get a taste of Paul’s drumming, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaX1KWPtHLg

“This clip only represents a small fraction of Paul repertoire and abilities. We have only had 3 rehearsals with Paul so far, but it has clicked from the beginning both on a musical and personal level. I would have never thought that I could find another drummer who plays at the same level as Luc, but now I am sure that Paul will not only follow in Luc’s footsteps, but also stray from the path and bring new, exciting things to the table. I always knew that Paul was a machine who wouldn’t struggle with fast stuff like in ‘Disequilibrated’ or ‘The Wish In Dreams’, but watching him enjoy playing some of the slow and calm songs with so much feeling and energy really made me aware of how awesome and versatile a drummer he really is. Paul was the only drummer we auditioned, and after we did, there was no desire to try out anyone else.”

Paul Seidel adds:

“I’m very pleased to officially announce, that I’ll be joining forces with THE OCEAN. I am glad, both musically and on a personal scale, to walk new paths and broaden my horizon. My personal approach has always been to overcome genre boundaries as well as stereotypes, to swim against the current and to play or enjoy music apart from conventional habits. THE OCEAN have ever since implemented a conceptual urge in the context of progressive music and have never been afraid to dare to experiment. Therefore, I am more than looking forward to getting creative and contribute my part to the art of THE OCEAN.”

THE OCEAN Streams Full Chapter from Triple-Disc DVD

On the heels of three long months of touring (North America, Asia, Russia) in support of their latest album, Pelagial, THE OCEAN have launched the entire ‘China’ chapter of their highly anticipated Collective Oblivion triple DVD.

THE OCEAN main man Robin Staps comments:

“I can’t believe that this is finally… finished. We all kind of lost hope along the way, as the project totally grew out of proportion over the last 2 years. Originally we only wanted to film one single show, and by June 2012 we were sitting on top of a pile of 28 terabytes of data filmed across the globe during 2 full years. Countless live shows, interviews, crazy parties on Russian trains and funny moments in Chinese pharmacies. But then the worst part began: editing, choosing, compiling, structuring, which took another year. Now it’s done, for real! And I can safely say that you will be hard-pressed to find any other band DVD that is equally extensive, hilarious, profound and compelling, as this one. Everything you ever wanted to know about this band, from the early days until now… the answer is here! And a lot of things you didn’t wanna know as well…”

The band formed in 2005 and has released two full length albums, “Urban Being” in 2009, and “The King is Fat’N’Old” in 2010. Their animated live shows have taken them on tour all over Europe, and even over to Japan. Destrage opened for Every Time I Die and Parkway Drive this summer, and headlined a variety of Italian festivals including: Machete Fest, Rock In Riot, MAV Festival, and more.

Destrage’s new album, “Are You Kidding Me? No.” is complete and being prepared for release in early 2014. Plans are currently in motion for videos in support of the new album, as well as more extensive touring in 2014.

We just signed with one of the most important and historical metal label in the world, being welcomed as members of a big family, this is simply amazing! We’ve listened to Metal Blade artists since we were just fresh-faced kids and now we’re stoked to be part of such a great roster. We are really excited for the upcoming release and we can’t wait to bring this work on stage and tour around as much as we can. See ya all very soon!”

MONSTER MAGNET New Song, Announce Tour with ROYAL THUNDER, ZODIAC

MONSTER MAGNET will be releasing their new album Last Patrol October 15 via Napalm Records. Dave Wyndorf and Phil Caivano produced Last Patrol, while Evil Joe Barresi mixed the album with additional production duties handled by Matt Hyde. The artwork was created by John Sumrow with consultation coming from Chris Ryall and designs by Ryan Clark for Invisible Creatures Inc. The album will be available as a Limited Edition Digipak which contains two bonus tracks, standard CD, 2LP and digital format. The album is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Today MONSTER MAGNET has teamed up with Crave Online for an exclusive premiere of a new track from Last Patrol.  Get a first listen to the song “Mindless Ones” HERE.

In support of Last Patrol, MONSTER MAGNETwill be embarking on a full-blown North American Tour!  Although the band has toured Europe relentlessly over the past decade, this is MONSTER MAGNET‘s first full North American tour in over 10 years!  The band is eager to hit the road in the states for the first time in what seems like forever. Prepare to hear MONSTER MAGNET classics and new cuts from Last Patrol for the first time live! Support will come from Royal Thunder and Zodiac. The tour is scheduled to kick off November 14 in Grand Rapids, MI and will run through December 14 in New York, NY.

Frontman and MONSTER MAGNET mastermind Dave Wyndorf checked in with his thoughts about Last Patrol:

Last Patrol is a return to our roots in terms of vibe and recording style. It’s full-on psychedelic space-rock with a 60’s garage feel, recorded almost exclusively with vintage guitars, amps and effects in our hometown of Red Bank, NJ. The songs are a kind of Space-Noir, tales of cosmic revenge, peaking libidos, alienation and epic strangeness. It’s a weird trip through the back alleys of a dark, retro-future, which not by coincidence very much resembles my own life. (laughs) The lyrics aren’t fantasy really, rather a recounting of my musings on, observations of and general emotional reaction to my life and environment during a 1 week writing period in February of 2013. But I tend to use the vernacular and imagery of science fiction and surrealism to express myself and that’s where these lyrics get trippy. There’s also our cover version of Donovan’s “Three Kingfishers” which I thought fit the mood of the album.”

Last Patrol was produced by Phil Caivano and myself with an effort to bring a home grown feel to the whole affair. We had been doing smaller projects out of Phil’s “Studio 13″ recording space and I really felt comfortable there so it was the natural choice on where to record the next full-scale Monster Magnet album. Phil and I grew up together and have a shared love of some very particular vintage music and styles. And everybody in the band played their asses off on this one.”

A darker and more mature effort, Psychonaut brings forth Fatality’s trademark energy and commitment to drunken mayhem. Tracks like ‘Thoughts Collide’ and ‘Before The Collapse’ delve deep into the sodden minds of their creators, bubbling with the strange alchemy of pop culture. Psychonaut is an exploration of the inner landscape of the mind, where addled thoughts and horror-polluted dreams are held up to musical scrutiny. Monstrous, ambitious, and sardonically funny as ever, Fatality are taking their unique sound and boundless energy to the next level.

About:

Toronto, Canada’s high-energy, modern thrash monsters Fatality have been cranking out wise-cracking, beer-drenched nightmares together since 2003. Known for their wild, riotous live performances and their peerless work ethic, they have been independently booking and promoting their own shows, creating great merch, touring North America, and making some great tunes along the way. Few bands embody the DIY spirit as fully as Fatality consistently do, and no other bands have as much fun working their asses off.

Fatality’s debut effort, Beers From The Grave, was an irreverent, horror-themed album that eschewed seriousness in favour of hard living and good times. Decibel Magazine quipped that, on Beers From The Grave, “solos fly with reckless abandon, the bass is audible and practically so are the beers being cracked open. These guys must have awesome parties.” Hellbound.ca stated that Fatality are “a bundle of crass, explosive, obnoxiously positive energy spewing beer and shrapnel.” Part homage to classic zombie apocalypse horror and part retro-thrash ruckus, Beers From The Grave was an exciting, riotously messy debut.

After supporting Beers From The Grave with East coast Canadian tours, and being invited to share the stage with the likes of Exodus, Municipal Waste, Holy Grail and Razor, the thrash rockers went back to the studio and emerged with still more new material. Three rough-and-tumble, irresistibly catchy singles — “T.F.E.S.”, “Uppercut” and “Hammerfist” — were bundled together as a free EP. While most bands would have simply released a free record and called it a day, Fatality supported their singles with North American tours, winning hearts, destroying livers and splitting eardrums along the way. After those adventures, Fatality went into a period of hiatus. They emerged from this creative cocoon and re-instated their original drummer, Mason LeVon (brother to guitarist and vocalist Spencer LeVon, who replaced longtime friend and skinsman Andrew Suarez), and new musical vision. In early 2012, the band began writing a brand-new full-length, ‘Psychonaut’, unquestionably their most ambitious project to date.

THE CONTORTIONIST Part Ways With Lead Singer

(NEW YORK, NY) – THE CONTORTIONIST announced the departure of their frontman Jonathan Carpenter with his interim replacement in one fell swoop. Jonathan and his long-time girlfriend will be expecting their first child and Carpenter has made the decision to focus on his personal life. Mike Lessard of LAST CHANCE TO REASON will be taking on vocal duties while the band finds a permanent replacement.

THE CONTORTIONIST: Robby Baca (Guitar), Joey Baca (Percussion), Cameron Maynard (Guitar), Christopher Tilley (Bass Guitar)

Statements from each of the parties can be found below.

“It’s going to be a jarring change of pace for my life, not being on the road most of the year. Making songs with the band and then performing them in front of the best fans has been a once in a lifetime experience. I wouldn’t trade the perspective I’ve found in the past few years for anything. I got to meet so many amazing people and see a good chunk of the world. I absolutely intend to keep creating and playing music in the future, albeit in a more personal pursuit.”

“I will miss seeing everyone in the TC family very much. I wish the best to all of my band buds and everyone who supports live music and all this heavy banger music we’ve been making. I feel very excited for my future with the love of my life and our pups, and our little one on the way.”

“Music has always been one of my passions and that’s what drew me to this band in the first place. The music comes first, and I know that the talent of the band will rise above this member change and they will find a new arrangement that will blow your minds.” – Jonathan Carpenter

“We are sad to see Jon go, but at the same time remain fully supportive of his decision. We look forward to the process of finding a new vocalist and writing a new record.” – Robby Baca

“I’m happy to be helping my friends in The Contortionist for the next few months on tour as a temporary vocalist. I’ll be returning to my duties in Last Chance to Reason once these dates are finished in May. I look forward to seeing a bunch of new and familiar faces in the months to come, and to sharing new music from LCTR in the near future!” – Mike Lessard

THE CONTORTIONIST released Intrinsic earlier this year to much critical acclaim. Landing at number #107 on the Billboard Top 200, #15 on the Hard Music Chart and #3 on the New Artist Chart, it was the most successful first week the band has had to date. It’s also on sale now for $6.66 here!

The band recently finished a batch of successful dates with DEFTONES and will be appearing at this year’s NEW ENGLAND METAL & HARDCORE FESTIVAL next month. They’re hitting the road with label-mates, WITHIN THE RUINS next week and will be supporting AFTER THE BURIAL in the coming months.

“The band’s ability to balance chaos and solemnity have never been better. Breaking from soft, ethereal passages into grueling, mosh-ready grooves at the drop of a hat” – Altpress.com

“The Contortionist are, without a doubt, one of the most exciting young prog-metal bands on the scene today” – MetalSucks

“This song answers the question, ‘can you make something cute brutal?’ We just did this for fun. We have a recording studio, we had inspiration, so why not? Those dogs are the best. This is our tribute to them.” comments guitarist Josh “The J” Key.

BIO:

Most high school friends can’t even stand to look at each other once school’s out, but in the case of vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key, they decided to spend even more time together after graduation.

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, they joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed would be proud of and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.

With two full-length albums behind them – We Couldn’t Think of a Title and Sandwich – the band released their latest record, Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.
