RIVERS OF NIHIL Album Pre-Order Available

Rivers of Nihil have released the first single from their debut album “The Conscious Seed of Light,” out October 15 in North America and October 11/14 in Europe/UK via Metal Blade Records. “Rain Eater” is available for streaming now at metalblade.com/riversofnihil, where fans can also pre-order the album.

The album was recorded in March of 2013 at Mana Recording Studios in Florida with famed metal producer/musician Erik Rutan.

Guitarist Brody Uttley said,

“Working with Erik was a true privilege. Coming from the DIY circuit and immediately recording with one of greatest death metal producers of all time pushed us all more than we ever could have expected, both as musicians and as people. We have grown tremendously as a band in all aspects because of our experience with Erik.”

The debut single, “Rain Eater,” is available for streaming now at metalblade.com/riversofnihil, where fans can also pre-order the album.

Artwork for the band’s debut full-length was handled by famed cover artist, Dan Seagrave, whose portfolio includes covers for Morbid Angel, Entombed, Suffocation, and Decrepit Birth. RIVERS OF NIHIL ended up sending a brief treatment of the record that included a description of the album with song titles, a few lyrics, etc. to a number of artists the band admires. Every one of the artists seemed interested to a degree; however, it was Dan Seagrave who really seemed like he understood and appreciated what it was the band was going for.

And as Brody says,

“he really tore into it! What we see on the cover is a landscape of a world that doesn’t need mankind, we are relics here, and the sun is the only true master.”

Born from the ruins of their decaying hometown of Reading, Pennsylvania, RIVERS OF NIHIL are on a relentless path of taking their music to the next level. Formed in 2009 the modern progressive death metal quintet’s music is as dark and heavy as the coal and iron their home city was built upon, taking influences from some of death metal’s heaviest, most abrasive hitters: Morbid Angel, Gojira, Spawn of Possession, and Decapitated, to name a few.

DECREPIT BIRTH Snag THE KENNEDY VEIL Drummist For Tour

Drummer Gabe Seeber of Sacramento‘s fast rising death metal juggernaut, The Kennedy Veil, will be filling in for tech death heavy hitters, Decrepit Birth for their entire Hell In July tour run with Six Feet Under and Cannabis Corpse. With The Kennedy Veil being midway through recording their debut full length and only bass and vocal tracking remaining, Gabe had the time and availability to hit the road while the rest of the band returns to the studio to wrap up the recording process for Trinity of Falsehood.

Decrepit Birth stated via their Facebook page:

“We are pleased to announce that drummer Gabe Seeber (THE KENNEDY VEIL) will be filling in for us during our upcoming tour and and headline festival this July! Due to having such a short amount of time to learn our material, our set at the Homeless One festival will be a bit shorter than expected, but we still promise give you all our absolute best!!! A HUGE thank you to Gabe for busting his ass to keep us going with such short notice!!!”Gabe TKV1

Recording sessions for Trinity of Falsehood officially got underway in June with Gabe traveling out to NB Recording in Santa Rosa, CA to lay down drum tracks with producer/engineer Nick Botelho. Multi-camera video footage was captured, and studio video updates will eventually make their way online, once the band wraps up recording sessions later this month. The rough mix of the song Disciples of Dead Aeons, which is being re-recorded for the album, can be heard here.

Trinity of Falsehood is tentatively set to see a release in late 2013 via Unique Leader Records.

IMMOLATION Unveil Track Listing, Album Artwork

Logo: Nuclear Blast Records

New York death metal legends, IMMOLATION, unveiled the artwork and track listing for their upcoming ninth full-length album Kingdom of Conspiracy. The cover imagery was brought to life this time by no less than Pär Olofsson (IMMORTAL, THE FACELESS, ABYSMAL DAWN).

“The figures in the artwork have all been bound and chained and have their eyes and mouths sewn shut symbolically, showing the chilling of speech and the intentional blinding of the masses,” explains guitarist Robert Vigna.

“They all make up the huge ominous structure behind them, which is symbolic of the growing security state as well as our failing structures today, and how they are slowly and methodically consuming and controlling us all. It has a very Orwellian feel to it, which is what we were going for since the album is very dark in a slightly different way.”

In regards to the album’s lyrical content he continues:

“The album deals with the world today and the slow unraveling and breakdown of our societies and the systems and structures behind them. It speaks of the human side to all this and how we have all lost our way and have fed into these very systems that are slowly coming apart. This is the common thread running throughout the album and the cover paints a very dark picture of the future, where these systems have completely absorbed our world, and our freedoms and we have become a part of the very fabric of these structures that we have created. Each song is a symptom of this mass sickness that has brought the world to the point it is at now, and we paint a very bleak picture of this slow and gradual breakdown and the human failures that sped this process along. This is the Kingdom of Conspiracy.”

The follow up to their 2010 release, Majesty and Decay, will be released on May 10 via Nuclear Blast. The album was recorded at Sound Studios in Millbrook, NY with longtime producer Paul Orofino, and mixed and mastered once again by Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH, SUFFOCATION).

1. Echoes Of Despair
2. Keep The Silence
3. Kingdom Of Conspiracy
4. Serving Divinity
5. The Great Sleep

7. A Spectacle of Lies

About the Band:

The members honed their chops as high schoolers in various bands in the Reading scene, eventually coming together to form RIVERS OF NIHIL in 2009.

They recorded their first EP Hierarchy that year with Carson Slovak (Century), regularly toured the Northeast and Midwest, and scored local opening gigs for the likes of Decapitated, Decrepit Birth, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, and Misery Index. Two years later they regrouped with producer Len Carmichael to record their next EPTemporality Unbound, which saw the band earn recognition in the national metal scene as well as start to attract the attention of record labels and eventually saw the band signing with Metal Blade Records in late 2012.
