TEMPLE OF BAAL Premiere New Track

French death/black metallers TEMPLE OF BAAL premiered the first track off their upcoming album entitled Verses Of Fire. The release is coming out on October 22 in Europe and November 12 in North America via Agonia Records. The stream is available at: http://youtu.be/GH5yedt6otg

INFERNO

Verses Of Fire’s sound has been carefully manufactured by Andrew Guillotin in Hybreed Studios. Focusing on a more organic side thanks to the use of tube amps and natural drums, the production allows the natural old-school feeling of the band to shine through the whole album. Through ten tracks – lasting about an hour – TEMPLE OF BAAL explores a wide spectre of extreme metal: from raging blast beats and thrashing riffs, through haunted mid tempo vibes, and up to the point of band’s primal influence – the sinister sounds of early 90’s black/death metal.

New material will be available in digipack CDlimited double LP and extra limited gold LP (66 copies only).

Fans of the band can expect a fine blend between “Lightslaying Rituals” (sophomore release, 2009) aggression and the last split CD“The Vision Of Fading Mankind”‘s (2011) epic atmospheres.

CHOSEN Crosses 5,000 Downloads of Debut Album

amr_logo_smal_570

Today’s digital age has made metal more accessible than ever as the internet has been a key tool in creating word of mouth between metal fans and their love for the music. Irish extreme metal band CHOSEN recently demonstrated this by offering their debut album Resolution for free download via their official website, which has now reached over 5,000 FREE downloads since its release on March 30.

CHOSEN: David McCann (Drums & Percussion), Paul Shields (Vocals/Guitars)

Drummer/Percussionist David McCann is proud to comment the following:

“We’re simply blown away by overall response to Resolution and could never have predicted this intense level of interest. While 5,000 downloads in just one week may seem relatively small in the grand scheme of things, for a niche band such as ourselves it’s more than we could have ever expected and only reinforces the notion than putting this album up for free download was the right move.”

Produced by Alwyn Walker, Resolution is a reflection of sheer perseverance and innovation, brimming with top-notch musicianship, well-crafted arrangements and inventive hooks. Merged with a rich audio production value, void of the sterile, homogeneous and plastic instrumentation factor, which currently dominates the commercial metal market, this debut album from one of Ireland’s noteworthy metal bands is a truly refreshing piece of work.

Resolution is also available in two special edition CD formats:

The Deluxe Special Edition is a double CD that features a 9-track bonus disc of unreleased songs, rough mixes, drum and bass tracks taken from their album sessions along with a detailed album booklet.

The Collector’s Edition is a spawn of the Deluxe Special Edition that includes a beautiful 60-page, full colour soft cover booklet, extensive liner notes, lyrical themes and illustrations for each song, rare photos, studio diaries and more, all exhibited within an exquisite tapestry of expanded album artwork courtesy of Fiaz Farrelly making it a must have item for those who want something a little more tangible to add to their music collection.

THE OCEAN Streaming Instrumental Version of New Album

In celebration of its forthcoming release, just three weeks away, Spin Magazine is currently streaming the instrumental version of THE OCEAN‘s Pelagial in its entirety!

Written, recorded, and intended to-be-performed-live as one single 53-minute piece of music, Pelagial is a multifaceted conceptual musical voyage that begins at the surface of the ocean and plunges through all five pelagic depth zones: epipelagic, mesopelagic, bathyalpelagic, abyssopelagic, and hadopelagic. In synch with diminishing light and increasing pressure as one dives or sinks deeper into the ocean, the album begins rather light and progressively gets heavier and slows as the band reaches the unfathomable depths of the hadopelagic zone, characterized by complete darkness and a thousandfold increased pressure as compared to surface level. The tracks, or episodes, are connected by interludes of underwater sounds and samples taken from old submarine movies, which give the album a claustrophobic “Das Boot“-kind of atmosphere.

“There are track marks, and there are actual songs built into this larger structure, but the whole album is a journey rather than a number of loose tracks, some riffs appear in the first two minutes of the album and then reappear 30 minutes later,” comments guitarist Robin Staps.

Delve into the sonic depths of Pelagial, courtesy of Spin Magazine, HERE or request The Ocean on The Welding Room (Tuesday’s 3:00-7:00pm & Thursday’s 5:00-9:00pm ET). Send your Death Threats/Complaints to TheWeldingRoom@gmail.com now.

Pelagial was mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Witchcraft) at Fascination Street Studios in Örebrö, Sweden, and firmly stands as THE OCEAN’s deepest, most challenging entry to their winding catalog of sound exploration. Pelagial will be released as a double CD, which includes both vocal and instrumental versions of the album, on April 26/29 (Europe) and April 30 (North America/World) through Metal Blade Records. For preorder info, studio footage and more, visit the band’s Official Metal Blade Page.

Additionally, preorders are currently available for the vinyl edition of the album, released through Pelagic Records. The vinyl edition features two separate gatefolds with related artwork (by Seldon Hunt), holding four 10″ vinyl records in different colors! Order yours now at: http//www.pelagic-records.com/vinyl.

In related news, THE OCEAN will return to North America this summer as part of the 7th annual Summer Slaughter Tour, presented by Indie Merch Store, ESP and Guitar World. Set to run from July 19 through August 24, the band will appear alongside The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, Revocation, Aeon and more. Official tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Vertigo is available for streaming in it’s entirety at the official KOLDBRANN Bandcamp page. and can be ordered at the Season of Mist e-shop. The album is available on CD, and as a strictly limited edition gate-fold double LP in black and transparent vinyl.

THE OCEAN Post New Studio Footage

In anticipation of their upcoming new full-length, Pelagial, THE OCEAN posted the second in a series of studio video diaries. Possibly their deepest and most profoundly sophisticated composition to date, Pelagial is a progressive musical journey written, recorded and to-be-performed-live as one, single, 53-minute piece of music. Mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Witchcraft) at Fascination Street Studios in Orebro, Sweden, the offering will be released as a double CD, which includes both vocal and instrumental versions of the album, on April 26/29 (Europe) and April 30 (North America/world) through Metal Blade Records.

The concept of the album is made evident in its title. Listeners will be further submersed as they journey with the band, beginning at the surface of the ocean and plunging through all five pelagic depth zones: epipelagic, mesopelagic, bathyalpelagic, abyssopelagic, and hadopelagic. As one continuous piece of music, Pelagial‘s tracks, or episodes, are connected by interludes of underwater sounds and samples taken from old submarine movies, which give the album a claustrophobic “Das Boot“-kind of atmosphere.

“There are track marks, and there are actual songs built into this larger structure, but the whole album is a journey rather than a number of loose tracks… some riffs appear in the first two minutes of the album and then reappear thirty minutes later,” details guitarist Robin Staps.

It’s an experience that will reward repeated listens.

Point your browser to metalblade.com/theocean to view the latest studio report where Loic Rossetti tracks vocals and talks candidly about the near paralysis of his voice.

Additionally, preorders are currently available for a very special acrylic box set edition of Pelagial, released through Pelagic Records. These heavy acrylic boxes are still available in CD format (the vinyl edition is now sold out) and contain the CD digipak as well as an extra DVD with the Pelagial movie by Craig Murray, all of which will be “buried” underneath five thick acrylic layers, colored in different hues of blue, each layer reflecting one of the five pelagial depth zones. The layers will be silk-screen printed with additional artwork by Martin Kvamme. Claim your copy now at http://www.theoceancollective.com/pelagial

Upcoming ABORYM Album Details Announced

EnterLogo

Details of Dirty, the 6th full-length album from Italo-Norwegian hard-industrial-electro extreme metallers ABORYM have been announced. The 10-track double album (cover below), which will be available in digipak, jewel case and gatefold double LP formats, is set for release on Agonia Records on the May 28 in Europe and the June 11 in the USA/North America.

Dirty was recorded at the Fear No One Studios in Italy with Emiliano Natali, reprising his Sound Engineers role from the band’s Psychogrotesque album, and it is helmed by Marc Urselli of New York’s Eastside Sound Studio who has worked with the likes of Mike Patton and Lou Reed. The electronic part of the album is engineered by D. Loop (Kebabtraume, Limbo). R.G. Narchost (Stormcrow, Demon’s Shade, Drowning Ashes) created “The Spiral shaped chamber” custom sounds library for the band. Artwork for the album is by ABORYM’s Fabban.

The first CD of the album features new material, whilst the second CD features two tracks from previous albums, which have been completely re-arranged and re-recorded, covers of tracks by Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails, and a previously unreleased track performed by both musicians such as Agonia BV, Tamara Picardo, Samuel Heru Ra Ha MK, Hostis, Ulven, Mike Bizzini, David Cholasta, Tobias Dünnebacke, Jonathan Butcher, Jessy Lavallee, Thomas Hochstetler, Mary J. Rooks, Amanda Neilson and Mark Llewellyn, as well as several fans. The song was written by Alberto Penzin (CO2, ex-Schizo) and was spliced together from all the different sources.

Dirty tracklist:

CD 1
Irreversible Crisis
Across the Universe
Dirty
Bleedthrough
Raped By Daddy
I Don’t Know
The Factory of Death
Helter Skelter Youth
Face the Reptile
The Day the Sun Stopped Shining

CD2
Fire Walk With Us (new version originally released on “Fire Walk With Us”)
Roma Divina Urbs (new version originally released on “Kali Yuga Bizarre”)
Hallowed Be Thy Name (Iron Maiden Cover)
Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd Cover)
Hurt (Nine Inch Nails Cover)
Need for limited loss (new track)

Formed in 1992 by frontman Fabban, ABORYM started life as a covers band and went through several transformations, eventually pioneering what the band calls hard-industrial-electro extreme metal. Today’s line up consists of Italians Fabban on vocals, bass and Synths and Paolo Pieri (Hour Of Penance) on guitars, keyboards and programming, together with Norway’s Bard “Faust” Eithun (Blood Tsunami, Mongo Ninja, ex-Emperor) on drums.

With Dirty being the band’s first release since 2010’s Psychogrotesque, all three musicians have something to say about it.

Guitarist Paolo Pieri commented:

“This is definitely the most schizoid and experimental ABORYM work so far. This time we focused on pushing the boundaries of electronic music one step forward while retaining the ruthless brutality of extreme metal in a way totally ahead of the times.”

Drummer Bard “Faust” Eithun added:

“This time around ABORYM push everything further; the electronic and industrial elements have never been so present. Rest assured, no matter how sick, twisted and beyond everything it sounds, it is still ABORYM.”

The last word falls to founder Fabban:

“I believe that Dirty represents the best material ever written by ABORYM from 1992 until today. Given that it wasn’t that easy to go beyond an album such as Psychogrotesque, I strongly believe that this time we did exceed every limit and every concept of experimentation – manipulating all the clichès of extreme metal, industrial or electronic music and pushing together elements that are so far away from each other. As a result, we achieved something really innovative, powerful, refined and of a really high standard. The quality of sounds, the nuances, the details passing through the recording quality; the quality of the machines that we used and abused, the quality of the lyrics, the artwork and the performances of each of us and of all the people who have worked with us, are definitely all at the top. Dirty is a record that simply expands the range of our listeners, it’s an album that everyone can enjoy and really appreciate. I am personally very excited and, at the same time, really proud of what you’ll soon be able to listen to. We worked so hard for the past two years on this double album that we have no words to really explain how excited we are to finally see it released. It’s an album that will further change the history of extreme music. Of that I have no doubt.”

Three earlier tracks from ABORYM can be heard on the band’s SoundCloud player at http://soundcloud.com/aborymofficial/sets/aborym.
