IN SOLITUDE Premiere New Single

Head over to the VICE’s music destination, Noisey, to listen to a brand new track from Swedish classic heavy metal band, In Solitude. Click HERE to stream “A Buried Sun.” The band’s new album Sister is dropping in North America on 10/01 and will be available to fans digitally, on CD, and 180 gram black vinyl. Fans can check out the first single and title track “Sister” at MetalBlade.com/InSolitude.

Fans can also pick up the upcoming issue of Decibel Magazine, November issue #109-out October 3, which features In Solitude on the cover which was shot by internationally-renowned metal and rock photographer Ester Segarra in Sweden. If you aren’t already a subscriber you can check your local bookstore or order from Decibel directly at the following location.

“Sister” was recorded at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden during March 2013. The album was produced and mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona and stands as a logical next step above and beyond its predecessor, “The World. The Flesh. The Devil.” In Solitude’s strength resides in their ability to craft dark and oppressive atmospheres within the auditory realm of classic heavy metal. “Sister” compounds this trademark sound further, beginning with the acoustic intro, “He Comes,” and saturates the record in an aura of uniqueness; see: “Lavender” and the title track.

The album concludes with an 8-minute, driving, near trance-like opus that features guest guitarist Pelle Forsberg (Watain). Additionally, Jarboe of Swans fame can be heard on “Horses in the Ground.” Moods range from Mercyful Fate-esque guitar flavors, shadows of Black Sabbath, the heavy dissonance of Swans, to straightforward, earworm riffs. In any case, one thing can be said for certain: their delivery is as genuine as it is impressive.

North American fans will have an opportunity to see In Solitude live this Fall. The band will be supporting Watain on their “Wild Hunt” tour beginning on October 8 in New York City. The tour also features support from Tribulation. Dates can be found below, as well as on facebook.com/insolitudeofficial.

LORD DYING come from Portland, Oregon, a place over abundant with purveyors of the heavy riff.  A region where the inhabitants are plagued with nerve and joint damage due to lack of sunlight. In a time where everyone is trying to out-sludge or out-doom each other LORD DYING gives something less than a fuck. They are a metal band with members of Black Elk , Portals, Le Force, and Cremains, who in their short, one year’s time as a band have shared the stage with Red Fang, Down, Unsane, Yob, Valient Thorr, Ghost and many others.

The band recently finished work on a video for the song Dreams of Mercy. The video was shot by Whitey McConnaughy (Red Fang, ZZ Top). Check it out HERE.

LORD DYING’s debut Summon the Faithless is available now on Relapse Records.  The album is available in CD and LP formats which can be purchased HERE and digitally via iTunes.

THIS MISERY GARDEN Stream Album

Metal/Rock outfit THIS MISERY GARDEN are streaming their new record, Cornerstone in it’s entirety here.

Switzerland‘s THIS MISERY GARDEN capture the dual nature of their home country on their second full-length Cornerstone. The face of THIS MISERY GARDEN is melancholy that reminds of early KATATONIA and speaks to isolation and despair. That darkness is wrapped in tight, measured, melodic hard rock reminiscient of meta-rock bands a la TOOL. Produced and mixed by Drop (SYBREED), and mastered by Jens Bogren (KATATONIA, OPETH, PARADISE LOST) in the prestigious Fascination Street Studio.

In the past 6 weeks, the band has premiered music videos for two tracks off Cornerstone. The band recently released a video for Siamese Again (directed by Mathias Wälti), and Warning Zone, which was filmed entirely during the making of the new album.

Cornerstone is now available for purchase via the Season of Mist E-Shop.

THIS MISERY GARDEN Debut Music Video

Dark rock outfit THIS MISERY GARDEN debuted a video for a new song from their forthcoming record, Cornerstone. The new track, titled Siamese Again, directed by Mathias Wälti is playing now here.

About the video, the band said:

“We are glad to present the new video Siamese Again supporting the upcoming album Cornerstone! The shooting took place in the Swiss Jura area last fall, directed by Mathias Waelti. The thematic may question the feeling of abandonment and the destructive repeating cycles! Your mind will do the rest.”

THIS MISERY GARDEN recently completed recording their Season of Mist debut album Cornerstone. It is the band’s testimony to melancholy and hope, anger defying serenity, love and deathm, slated for a North American release date on April 16.

The band previously uploaded a music video for the song Warning Zone. The clip was filmed entirely during the making of the album.

Cornerstone was recorded and mixed by Drop (SYBREED) at Downtone Studios (Trent Reznor, TV on the Radio) in Geneva, Switzerland. The album is now available for pre-order via the Season of Mist E-Shop.

IMMOLATION Unveil Track Listing, Album Artwork

Logo: Nuclear Blast Records

New York death metal legends, IMMOLATION, unveiled the artwork and track listing for their upcoming ninth full-length album Kingdom of Conspiracy. The cover imagery was brought to life this time by no less than Pär Olofsson (IMMORTAL, THE FACELESS, ABYSMAL DAWN).

“The figures in the artwork have all been bound and chained and have their eyes and mouths sewn shut symbolically, showing the chilling of speech and the intentional blinding of the masses,” explains guitarist Robert Vigna.

“They all make up the huge ominous structure behind them, which is symbolic of the growing security state as well as our failing structures today, and how they are slowly and methodically consuming and controlling us all. It has a very Orwellian feel to it, which is what we were going for since the album is very dark in a slightly different way.”

In regards to the album’s lyrical content he continues:

“The album deals with the world today and the slow unraveling and breakdown of our societies and the systems and structures behind them. It speaks of the human side to all this and how we have all lost our way and have fed into these very systems that are slowly coming apart. This is the common thread running throughout the album and the cover paints a very dark picture of the future, where these systems have completely absorbed our world, and our freedoms and we have become a part of the very fabric of these structures that we have created. Each song is a symptom of this mass sickness that has brought the world to the point it is at now, and we paint a very bleak picture of this slow and gradual breakdown and the human failures that sped this process along. This is the Kingdom of Conspiracy.”

The follow up to their 2010 release, Majesty and Decay, will be released on May 10 via Nuclear Blast. The album was recorded at Sound Studios in Millbrook, NY with longtime producer Paul Orofino, and mixed and mastered once again by Zack Ohren (ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH, SUFFOCATION).

(Burbank, CA) – Gemini Syndrome encapsulates both ends of the spectrum. The band conjures ethereal alternative melodies and then tempers them with gnashing, guttural distortion.

LISTEN TO NEW TRACK PLEASURE AND PAIN NOW

These five musicians—Aaron, Rich, Mike, AP, and Brian— all from diverse musical bands and worlds converged when the guys discovered that the spiritual musings of Aaron melded with Rich, AP and Mikes taste for dark and melodious rhythms. It was when Aaron’s fascination for the illuminati and mysticism caught Brian’s attention and sealed the unbreakable bond that would then extend between each of the members. They began residing under one roof, to live, sleep, and breathe music together communally as a band in the truest sense.

After some early demos and cutting their teeth on the road, the group retreated to Las Vegas to complete what would become their first offering with Kevin Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Ozzy Osbourne, In This Moment).

Their progressive fascinations bare resemblance to their musical ethos. Aaron will reference clandestine secrecy of “The Enlightened” in the same breath as espousing the merits of Eastern Buddhist ideology. At the same time, Brian speaks of his Freemasonry studies and owns a collection of literature any occult scholar would envy.

Songs like Pleasure and Pain rail with coarse riffs and haunting words, “In all of us is a sin that begins and doesn’t end until we syphon the last breath”. The ties that bind us all are the most vibrant and volatile.

“Gemini” in Zodiac represents “The Twins” and “Syndrome” which has meaning of a person’s “innate condition” form together to represent the duality within all of us.

There are bonds to everything at the end of the day—from the music to the message. Now, it’s up to you to uncover the meaning for yourself.

AMORPHIS Reveal New Album Details

Finnish masters of melacholic dark metal, AMORPHIS, announced Circle as the title of their upcoming 11th album, set for an April 19 release via Nuclear Blast

A short summary about the album’s concept/story that spreads throught out the lyrics by Pekka Kainulainen, who wrote the lyrics for most recent AMORPHIS albums can be read below:

“The protagonist has been dealt a bad hand at birth. He’s always felt himself an outsider with strong potential to become marginalized. Through an accident, after a crisis, he finds a connection with his inner powers. A guide is sent to him, from some other time and place. He gets a chance to take hold of his own life and change his destiny. From the past of Carelian Finland he finds his own spiritual tribe and the power to turn the course of his doomed life. This is a story of survival.”

Singer Tomi Joutsen adds about the album’s title:

Circle represents integrity. Back in the days, when there was something special to talk about, wise men used to sit in circle. Not everyone was invited to join them. But in this story, the protagonist was invited among the wise men’s circle.“
