“Harbinger” — a follow up to MUTILATION RITES acclaimed underground debut “Empyrean” —  was released last summer via Prosthetic Records. Described as a “nightmarish merger between black, death, d-beat, and doom” (Pitchfork), the album was recorded by long-time friend and producer Kevin Bernsten (TRIAC) and mastered by James Plotkin (Pelican, Isis, SunnO))), Isis). Its eight tracks of “invigorating and nerve-wracking debauchery” (Dead Rhetoric) are perfectly accompanied visually by noted cover artist Valnoir (Psycroptic, Watain, The Black Dahlia Murder).

MUTILATION RITES Announce Tour Date, New Website

(Brooklyn, NY) – Self-proclaimed “filthy black metallers” MUTILATION RITES will blast eardrums throughout the U.S. on an upcoming tour with recent Relapse signees Inter Arma. The tour will feature Will Lindsay (Indian, Anatomy of Habit, ex-Nachtmystium) filling in on bass for Ryan Jones, who had previous spring touring commitments with Today Is The Day. This will be the group’s first tour since joining labelmates Skeletonwitch for the second half of the extensive U.S. Abomination tour in the fall.

MUTILATION RITES’ Prosthetic debut Empyrean was perhaps the label’s most critically lauded release of 2012, with inclusions in year-end/best-of lists from Decibel, Pitchfork, Stereogum and more. The album, described as “a harrowing descent into the bleakest that black metal has to offer” by About.com, was produced by Kevin Bernstein (TRIAC) and is currently available on CD or 180-gram black vinyl (the latter courtesy of Gilead Media) via the PROSTHETIC webstore. In addition, Empyrean is currently on sale for $5 through Amazon MP3.
