KEN MODE Announce BBC Session

Metallic post-hardcore outfit KEN MODE will tape an exclusive performance on the legendary BBC1 radio channel in the UK. The performance will be part of the “Rock Show” with renowned music journalist/host Daniel P. Carter. KEN MODE will enter the renowned Maida Vale Studio in London on October 4 before their evening performance at Water Rats. A full list of confirmed worldwide KEN MODE tour dates, including their current European dates can be found below.

KEN MODE Release Another Track, Add Tour Dates

Regarding the new song, front man Jesse Matthewson said,

“This particular song is almost a cliche in itself, in that it pokes fun at both the classic cookie cutter, worker-bee, pie in the sky dream and some of said people’s views on anyone who thinks outside of said paradigm, and the melodramatic antithesis of the counter culture rebel. Musically, I wanted to hear Kittens if they were a hardcore band with breakdowns. Throw your cowboy hat into the pit and get wild.”

KEN MODE recently streamed another new track from Entrench, entitled The Terror Pulse, here. BLACK TUSK Begin Work on New EP

(Savannah, GA) – BLACK TUSK commenced work on new material for their upcoming EP scheduled to be released later this Spring via Relapse Records.

“This new release is a mean one. It reminds me of a new twist on an old days BLACK TUSK sound. We got back together with Jay and Phillip Cope to turn this out with some of that earlier, brutal sound you might have heard back in the beginning albums. We figured it was about time to see what the old gang could do years later.” – Black Tusk drummer, James May

The band will be taking a break from the studio in March for a short run of headline dates, followed up by a run of shows with Today is the Day, KEN Mode and Fight Amp. The tour begins March 1 in Spartanburg, SC and runs through April 7 in Chicago, IL. A complete list of dates can be found here, on the TOUR DATES page.

BLACK TUSK North American Tour Starts March 1st

BLACK TUSK is scheduled to appear at this year’s SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX. Additionally, BLACK TUSK are working with UnBlock the Rock (UBTR), an independent grassroots movement, working tirelessly to bring Cuban metal band Escape to the United States in March for this year’s SXSW Music Festival and Conference in Austin, Texas to perform the first Cuban heavy metal concert on U.S. soil. To help UBTR quickly raise funds over the next few weeks to cover Escape’s travel and visa costs to SXSW, BLACK TUSK donated a track to The Red Album, UBTR’s first compilation CD now available by donation at www.unblocktherock.com.

Metallic post-hardcore outfit KEN MODE debuted a new song, The Terror Pulse from their forthcoming album, Entrench.

Regarding the new song, the band said,

“The first couple track debuts from Entrench have seen us showcasing a little bit more of our hardcore/metalcore side, so with The Terror Pulse we’ve scaled things back to an older school noise rock feel. Conjuring our interpretation of early Swans and Rollins Band, the song truly drips with the venom of mistreatment as it pulsates its way into your subconscious. This is goodbye.”

Metallic post-hardcore outfit KEN MODE announced additional dates in support of their Season of Mist debut, Entrench. Their forthcoming North American tour with TODAY IS THE DAY and BLACK TUSK starts on March 5 in Portland, ME and runs through April 15 in Ottawa, ON.

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of metallic post-hardcore outfit KEN MODE! The Canada based trio recently completed recording their new album Entrench with acclaimed engineer Matt Bayles (MASTODON, ISIS, PEARL JAM, THE SWORD) and will unleash it on March 15 (March 19 in North America).

“The only logical way to follow up on the success of our previous album Venerable, was to put our noses to the grindstone and top that record in every way possible. With Entrench, we are convinced we have accomplished this. Entrench is our most collaborative effort, and the most creative and sonically diverse album of our entire career. Entrench sees us expand in both our handling of dynamics and general song and album craftsmanship; utilizing piano, keyboards, and strings to build on the classic power trio format. For this album, we have also enlisted guest vocal contributions from Dave Verellen (NARROWS, ex-BOTCH) and former DEADGUY/KISS IT GOODBYE vocalist Tim Singer. Both of them add another layer of icing to the metallic-hardcore-noise-rock-whatever-core cake we’ve baked”

KEN MODE was recently awarded a Canadian Juno Award – Canada’s version of the Grammy- in the inaugural “Heavy Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year” category, on the back of their critically acclaimed album, Venerable. Other nominees included DEVIN TOWNSEND and ANVIL.

With ‘Entrench’, we are convinced we have accomplished this. ‘Entrench’ is our most collaborative effort, and the most creative and sonically diverse album of our entire career. ‘Entrench’ sees us expand in both our handling of dynamics and general song and album craftsmanship; utilizing piano, keyboards, and strings to build on the classic power trio format. For this album, we have also enlisted guest vocal contributions from Dave Verellen (NARROWS, ex-BOTCH) and former DEADGUY/KISS IT GOODBYE vocalist Tim Singer. Both of them add another layer of icing to the metallic-hardcore-noise-rock-whatever-core cake we’ve baked.”


KEN MODE was recently awarded a Canadian Juno Award – Canada’s version of the Grammy- in the inaugural Heavy Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year category, on the back of their critically acclaimed album, Venerable. Other nominees included DEVIN TOWNSEND and ANVIL.


Regarding the award, Jesse Matthewson commented,


“It’s nice that Canada’s finally waking up to appreciate some of the darker arts…It’s cool that hopefully we’ll start getting more recognition on a grander scale.”


KEN MODE developed a reputation as a devastating live band. They have cut their teeth by blanketing North America and Europe many times over touring alongside KYLESA, PELICAN, REVOCATION, A LIFE ONCE LOST, CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE, DAUGHTERS, THE ATLAS MOTH, DEAFHEAVEN, GAZA and many more. Additionally, the band has appeared as part of international festivals such as SXSW, Hellfest (France), CMJ and JUNOfest.
