The VICTORY RECORDS STAGE will feature headliner Whitechapel as well asThy Art Is Murder, Jungle Rot, Sister Sin, Sworn In, Shattered Sun, Feed Her To The Sharks, Code Orange and Kissing Candice.

Kerry King, guitarist of ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAIN STAGE headliners Slayer states,

I don’t know if third time will be a charm, but it will definitely be hellish! Slayer and King Diamond on stage for the first time together in the States- NEVER has Mayhem been more evil. DON’T FUCKIN’ MISS IT.

ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAIN STAGE performer and heavy metal hellion King Diamond states,

This is going to be one hot and hellish summer! Slayer and King Diamond on the same stage – it does not get more devilish than this! We will be putting on a one hour set with the full King Diamond stage production. As for a set list, I’m not gonna reveal that here, but it will be built around “Dreams of Horror”. The Puppet Master will be there with Grandma, and we will even go as far back in time as to 1777 (hint). You’re all in for one hell of a show if you come to this Sabbath!

It has been eight years and it feels like it started just yesterday. We are so excited about this year’s lineup and having the mighty Slayer back in support of a new album. In addition, the first time for King Diamond and HELLYEAH will be awesome, as well as The Devil Wears Prada’s first time on the Main Stage. The Victory Stage has amazing bands and will play throughout the day. Heavy music is thriving in America and we are excited to be a part of it,” state John Reese and Kevin Lyman, ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL producers.

Meet This Year’s ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL Bands!

ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAIN STAGE:

Slayer
The Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot wrote that the five-time-nominated, two-time Grammy winning Slayer is “one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre.” Their membership in “The Big Four” – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax – the four bands that defined the thrash/metal genre – secures their place in music history. Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer brings to its live shows, having been named “Best Live Band” by numerous media outlets including Revolver, SPIN, and Metal Hammer. With songs that mirror the turmoil and aberrations of our society – God’s terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, chemical warfare, the hideous minds of serial killers, and the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, Slayer remains crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the Mainstream. Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in since. Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer’s drummer from ’94 – ’01, has rejoined bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King, and is back behind the kit. Slayer is currently in the studio recording a new album set for a 2015 release.

King Diamond
King Diamond’s Dreams of Horror double album was released in November of 2014 and is the only best-of compiled and approved by the band. The tracks were remastered and enhanced by Andy LaRocque and King Diamond himself. Give Me Your Soul…Please, King Diamond’s 2007 full-length, was nominated for a “best metal performance” Grammy Award!

HELLYEAH
HELLYEAH is comprised of Chad Gray (Mudvayne), Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damageplan), Tom Maxwell (Nothingface), Kyle Sanders (Bloodsimple) and Christian Brady (Magna-Fi). Their current album, BLOOD FOR BLOOD, is a welcome return to form. It leaves a mark, thanks to songs like the angular, vengeful “DMF,” a song birthed by the sort of anger that can’t be faked; it will leave you wondering who pissed these guys off. “Gift” is dirty, rowdy rock with equal parts groove and swagger, but also possessed of the sort of punk rock energy that would make Motorhead fans turns their heads. Then there is moodier, more contemplative fare like ” Moth” and “Hush” which connect on an emotional, cellular level, proving that you can be incredibly heavy in ways other than loud and fast. “Hush” is taking Rock radio by storm – among the most-added records in each of its first 3 weeks at theformat. The video for the track debuts upon this tour announce – see it at www.hellyeahband.com

The Devil Wears Prada
The Devil Wears Prada recently announced their return to Rise Records and their next release, a conceptual EP entitled Space, coming in summer 2015. The Space EP marks the band’s first concept release since Zombie and the first on Rise Records since their sophomore release, Plagues, in 2007. Zombie debuted at #11 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts in the summer of 2010. The band is currently headlining the “Zombie 5 Tour” to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the acclaimed EP.

VICTORY RECORDS STAGE:

Whitechapel
Whitechapel’s Our Endless War was released in April of 2014 and it debuted at a staggering #10 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, as well as #1 on both the iTunes rock and metal charts. Watch Whitechapel’s latest video, the intense and bloody Mitch Massie-directed “Let Me Burn”, nowHERE.

Thy Art Is Murder
Australia’s incendiary extreme musical export Thy Art is Murder, return with one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Produced and mixed by Will Putney (Suicide Silence, Exhumed, The Acacia Strain), Holy War is the band’s second release for Nuclear Blast Entertainment and third full-length album overall. Holy War will be available in various formats (digital; limited digi-pak + bonus track; assorted color vinyl; exclusive mail-order picture disc) and unleashed in North America on June 30th, in Europe & Australia on June 26th, and in the U.K. on June 29th.

Jungle Rot
American death-metal band, Jungle Rot, has been providing the masses with headbang-worthy anthems since their formation in 1994, with recent notable touring including runs with Suffocation, Kataklysm, and a killer performance on the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Festival Cruise 2015. Fans can expect a new Jungle Rot album this June, just in time for the Mayhem to begin.

Sister Sin
Lead by one of Revolver Magazine’s Hottest Chicks of 2015, Liv Jagrell, Swedish heavy-metal band Sister Sin have been riding high since the release of their October 2014 album, Black Lotus. Currently wrapping up a hugely successful, high-voltage tour with UDO in Europe, the no-nonsense four-piece is ready to take over the States once more, delivering a real dose of rock ‘n roll to the masses.

Sworn In
Chicago’s Sworn In just released their second album, the conceptual The Lovers/The Devil, this past Tuesday April 7th while on the road for their first-ever headline tour.

Shattered Sun
Poised to dominate the metal scene comes Texas melodic metal six-piece, Shattered Sun, with their Victory Records debut album, Hope Within Hatred (out April 21st). Currently crushing venues across the US as direct support to Testament and Exodus, Shattered Sun has come along “with all the riffs, all the hooks and several fucktons of heavy metal fury” assures Metal Hammer.

Feed Her To The Sharks
Australian quintet, Feed Her To The Sharks, are out for blood and proved such with their 2015 Victory Records debut album, Fortitude, which was applauded by BLUNT Mag for “taking metalcore back to its riffy, growly roots”. Having conquered their own metal scene, performing on the 2013 Van’s Warped Tour Australia and constant touring since, this band is ready to unleash their dynamic, merciless live show onto the masses this summer in the States.

Code Orange
Code Orange’s I Am King was released in September of 2014 and debuted on the Billboard 200 at #29. The album quickly peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart and has gained rave reviews from music critics and fans alike. Watch Code Orange’s latest video, “Dreams in Inertia”, HERE.

Kissing Candice
Theatrics are promised with each performance and every listen of New York’s gore-metal purveyors, Kissing Candice, who will be unleashing their Victory Records debut album this summer in time for the Mayhem festivities. Can’t wait? Catch the blood-soaked, masked madmen of Kissing Candice performing alongside Twiztid and Davey Suicide, beginning May 1st.

Remember – get your tickets beginning Friday, April 17th at 10:00am local time! We’ll see you in the pit!

KING DIAMOND Addresses Show Cancellation

Let me try and explain this without saying **** all the time.
The Japanese promoters at Loud Park had, when I woke up this morning, posted a false and deceitful cancellation announcement, which they are going to have to correct to what really happened.

First of all: We did not cancel the show. The promoters did.

Let them show an email saying we cancelled the show. They can’t. We can provide the email in which they cancelled.

They cancelled so late, that some of our people were already in flight to Japan. I myself found out from a forwarded email at 4:26 am Dallas time, waiting for a preordered cab to arrive at 6:00 am to take me to DFW International Airport.

The email had come from Onta (working for the promoter, in what capacity, I don’t know, but at least in a capacity to be able to cancel our performance), saying “Sorry for the result. Please stop taking flights for all…”

So much had happened up to this point, and I will try to condense everything into a short sequence of events.

Entire theatrical production, including all instruments and special effects had been put into the professional care of a Danish shipping company, who is also used by Rocket Cargo among others, in order to make sure everything would be in Tokyo with time to spare. This was trucked from Copenhagen to Hamburg harbor, and loaded onto a Chinese ship.

During the sail from Hamburg to Ningbo, China, where our entire cargo would be in transit and go via Japanese ship to Tokyo, our Danish shipper found out through their agents in China, that the ship’s arrival had suddenly been announced with a 6 day delay. No reasons given.

The Chinese ship company seems to still be working on an answer to our Danish shipper.

With such an unexpected delay (our Danish shipper had never experienced this before), new ways to try and make up for the delay had to be thought out.

A shipping company in China, known to our Danish shipper was contacted, since they were known to have connections to the Chinese government, with the hope that they might be able speed up a procedure that has never been done before. People at Creativeman also brought in connections in China to cooperate with everyone. The new, never before done plan was to now import the entire cargo into China, truck it in China from Ningbo to Shanghai, from where it would be exported and air lifted with a Chinese airline 747 cargo plane (the only one which had large enough entrance) to Narita Airport in Tokyo.

To my knowledge, the Danish embassy and the Japanese embassy in China became involved in trying to solve this dilemma.

At this point, money also became an issue. This procedure would add at least 21,500 Euros to expenses, which was agreed to be split between promoter and band. An amendment to the contract was negotiated, in which promoter in the end agreed to give band half the concert fee, even if the gear didn’t make it. This was agreed to, so that both band and promoter participated in the risk of incurring a bigger loss if we went along with this new plan, and still couldn’t make it.

The following paragraph explains the scenario from which the promoters probably took parts and wrongfully used in their cancellation statement, in order to push the blame onto us, while at the same time practically ridiculing us.

The promoter at some point tried to almost force the band into agreeing to play two free backline shows next year, only paying expenses for flights, rented backline and crew salary, in case the cargo didn’t make it in time to Loud Park, in order to make up for promoter’s part of the possible loss.

However, this idea was quickly scrapped, since we couldn’t guarantee that it would fit in our future schedule, plus that we would have huge losses doing that, and last but not least we do not play without our theatrical production anymore.

All King Diamond shows are full King Diamond shows.

Regarding our production, which was originally built over the period of several months and has been expanded since, the promoter generously did offer to try and replicate it in just days, which sounds nice but realistically was nothing but a big pipe dream. There is no way it could have been done safely and respectfully. Everything we use has been cleared with specific safety clauses in mind, and just walking on different feeling stairs that you have not practiced on is an actual safety issue. But there is so much that could be explained here that would make this clear as daylight, but would take too long. I need to get this out now.

Maybe you can get more info regarding all this when Decibel does their cover story of King Diamond very soon.

Again, I want to state that we did not cancel, the promoter did.

We not only have a loss from this financially, we also lost the planned 10 camera filming of our performance for a possible future DVD, plus most important, the chance to show a Japanese audience what a King Diamond show is all about.

EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NOT THE ONES TO BLAME FOR THIS, I WANT TO STATE TO ALL OF YOU HOW SORRY WE ARE THAT THIS WAS NOT POSSIBLE.

I also want to state that the promoters are not to blame for this either. Both parties tried to go above and beyond to make this happen, but in the end it ended up being out of our hands and up to the Chinese customs authorities.

We have emails containing proof of everything I have stated above.

Stay Heavy,
King Diamond

BELOW In Studio with Andy La Rocque

Epic doom metal band, BELOW, are currently hold up at Sonic Train Studios in Sweden with none other than Andy La Rocque (King Diamond) recording their Metal Blade Records debut. BELOW, hails from Sweden and music has influences from late Black Sabbath, Candlemass, and King Diamond, so going with Andy La Rocque as the producer was a clear choice for the group. The band offered up the following update:

“The progress of the recording of our debut album is going great and to have the opportunity to work with Andy La Rocque and Olof in Sonic Train Studios is amazing. We are currently finished recording the drums, the bass and the main guitars, and will start with the vocals this weekend. It sounds amazing already. It will be a truly epic album that will leave its mark in the history of doom.”

Producer and legendary King Diamond guitarist Andy La Rocque added;

“this is one of the heaviest bands I have worked with in the studio for a very long time, and the sounds so far is amazing! And always great to work with great musicians!”

Not much is known about the Swedish quintet, however they are working with Tobias Rosén—bass player of fellow Metal Blade Records artists Noctum—of Howlin’ Owl Productions and a split 7″ is in set to be released by Dark Descent Records with the doom act’s full-length being released via Metal Blade in 2014.

KING DIAMOND & VOLBEAT Release Free Download

Volbeat‘s latest album, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, features a guest appearance from the legendary King Diamond.

Today, King Diamond and Volbeat are pleased to release the Jacob Hansen mastered version of this track, titled Room 24, as a FREE download gift to the fans.

Fans can download the track in full-quality HERE.

The track Room 24 features a massive coup for Volbeat with the guest appearance from King Diamond, the legendary front man of Danish metal pioneers Mercyful Fate, and one of Poulsen‘s musical idols.

Volbeat reveals, “I’m a huge fan of Mercyful Fate and King Diamond. Having King on the record is a huge privilege. Normally, it’s not something he does. He wrote his own lines, and it is half my lyrics and half his. It’s a weird, scary story, and he’s the perfect person for it.”

Swedish doom metal act, MEMORY GARDEN, launched the second single and title track taken off their upcoming album, Doomain, exclusively via the website of Metal Hammer Germany.

Make sure to also head to www.metalblade.com/memorygarden to check out the cover art, pre-order bundles, and the first single, The Evangelist.

Dan Swano helped us getting the rig together and he provided us with the tools to do it and from there we did it ourselves. The lead guitar sessions were done at SolnaSound Recording by Simon & Mike Wead. When it all was done it was sent to Dan Swano and Unisound for mix and mastering. The final album is amazing and we are so thrilled to get it out to all of you.”

ZOMBIFIED Album Coming In February

In continued partnership with Germany‘s Cyclone Empire RecordsMetal Blade Records will be releasing one of Cyclone’s most recent European releases in North America. Zombified’s Carnage Slaughter and Death will be released on February 5 via Metal Blade Records in North America. The Sweden-based death/grind act unleashed the album at the end of 2012 in Europe. The title track, as well as album pre-orders, can be found at metalblade.com/zombified. Plus, hear tracks from the new album on The Welding Room radio program.

Zombified was started as a two man project by guitarists P. Myrén and P. Fransson in the winter of 2006. After some beers, and a three song demo, they decided to assemble a full band and record an album.

They got in contact with the session members “Von Pest” and M. Askinen and with them they gave birth to the first album Zombified Slaughtermachine. After the release, M. Fiebig and R. Karlsson joined the band on drums and vocals and Zombified didn’t waste any time and created a new album called Carnage Slaughter And Death. Shortly thereafter, M. Fiebig decided to leave the band and a new drummer was found in J. Johansson.

Zombified Slaughtermachine led to the band signing with Cyclone Empire. Carnage Slaughter and Death will be released in February 2013 by Metal Blade Records in North America. Carnage Slaughter and Death was recorded at Shotgun Studios, which is owned and operated by the band. Additionally, the band is wasting no time and has already begun assembling material for a third album.

Zombified:
Patrik Myrén – Guitar
Pär Fransson – Guitar
Roberth Karlsson – Vocals and Bass
Jacob Johansson – Drums

NIGHTFALL Release New Single

Greek symphonic metallers NIGHTFALL released the second single from their upcoming new album, CassiopeiaSurf over to Legacy magazine, Europe‘s biggest extreme metal magazine, at legacy.de to check out Colonize Cultures.

NIGHTFALL comments on the song as follows:

“The wheel of human race is moving towards by instinct. Slowly like a ferocious heavy tank roaring in muddy terrain and bravely like an astronaut in his capsule traveling to no man land. The creation of new lanes to earthly havens for the countless of restless souls to follow enormously is a fascinating old story. The Colonization is an unstoppable process that soon will reach extraterrestrial lands. A new Culture is imperative for smooth transition to the new era.”

Cassiopeia will be released January 22 in North America.

They recorded the album in four different places, something the band is quite familiar with. Vocals and keys were recorded in Greece (Soundflakes studios & Cyberia) while the drums got hammered down in Germany in the Soundlodge studios. Guitars and bass were recorded in the U.S. in Nashville, Tennessee in the Boomcave studios.

More than on the previous album Astron Black & The Thirty Tyrants, in Cassiopeia the spirit of old school Heavy Metal larks in almost every riff, with Mercyful Fate‘s and King Diamond‘s guitar style having its top notch, always the NIGHTFALL way.

Unlike Astron Black, there are more fast tempos as well as grindy ones bringing memories back from the mid 90’s times of now cult release Athenian Echoes. The vocals remain very, very heavy and thanks to Soundflakes amazing gear and Jörg Uken’s super mixing skills fit great with the melodic leads, moreover creating a solid sound wall where vocalist Efthimis comfortably sits on and spreading his inner daemons out to the world!

NIGHTFALL:
Efthimis Karadimas – vocals
Evan Hensley – guitars
Constantine – guitars
Stathis Ridis – bass
Stathis Kassios – keys
Jörg Uken – drums

Metal Blade Records Artist Showcase Downloads

Metal Blade Records Label Showcase Videos, Album Download and Stream featuring Gypsyhawk and Pilgrim now available

Back on September 15, Metal Blade Records and Scion A/V teamed up to bring you the label showcase featuring SIX FEET UNDER, CATTLE DECAPITATION, BATTLECROSS, GYPSYHAWK, and PILGRIM for a free matinee show at the Glasshouse in Pomona, California.

As if the free “30 years of Metal Blade Records” showcase wasn’t cool enough, Scion A/V had a crew on hand to conduct interviews with each of the bands for a series of video interviews and record the showcase for a free limited 7-inch release and digital download/stream featuring a track each from GYPSYHAWK and PILGRIM.

Head over to AOL Music to download (or stream) the digital copy of the 7-inch and check out the video interviews with all of the bands that performed the showcase as well as interviews with members of the Metal Blade staff who offer some insight into the world of the heavy metal music industry.
