DARKANE Post Final “Making-Of” Video

Hop in the studio with DARKANE vocalist Lawrence Mackrory as he records the vocals for the band’s new album The Sinister Supremacy and discusses his return to the band after 15 years in the latest video update (click image below).

Vocalist Lawrence Mackrory speaks about return to the band

Described as a “high-octane hybrid between melodic death metal and thrash metal with a slightly progressive undercurrent” (Ghostcult), the stunning 12-track album, recorded by Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah, Behemoth), showcases the resurgence of DARKANE after five years. Praised for its “sweeping orchestral interludes” (Metal Injection) as well as it’s “dazzling, punctuated riffs” (Dead Rhetoric), the album expands the boundaries of extreme metal while showcasing a darker and heavier DARKANE.

Called “the missing link between SYL, Fear Factory and At The Gates” (Kerrang!), DARKANE has toured the world with Testament, Meshuggah, Soilwork and Death Angel. The band’s current lineup consists of Mackrory, Christofer Malmström – Guitars, Klas Ideberg – Guitars, Jörgen Löfberg – Bass, and Peter Wildoer (Arch Enemy, James LaBrie) – Drums.

Out now via PROSTHETIC RECORDS in North America, The Sinister Supremacy is available now via the Prosthetic webshop (http://bit.ly/DarkaneTSSus) and iTunes, plus request DARKANE on The Welding Room radio program.

VENOMOUS MAXIMUS New Music Video

Texas dark heavy metal band VENOMOUS MAXIMUS just released its new album Beg Upon the Light to widespread celebration. The record has been called “Lovecraftian” and a “masterpiece” by Metal Injection, “mayhem without mercy” by Decibel, “super-thick occult doom” by Rhapsody and “the best metal album to come out of Texas in a long, long time” by the Houston Press.

Click the image below to watch the new Path of Doom video.

Venomous Maximus -

Additionally, VENOMOUS MAXIMUS were hand-picked by New Orleans metal titans DOWN to support the band for a string of live dates on their upcoming U.S. tour.

VENOMOUS MAXIMUS is one of the most successful metal bands to emerge from Houston in years, beloved of headbangers and headbanging blogs from across the U.S. and points beyond (maybe even astronauts).

Since its formation in 2010, the group has become the go-to metal band in the country’s third-largest city, winning back-to-back titles at the Houston Press Music Awards as the Space City‘s “Best Metal Band” and has shared the stage with the like-minded Mastodon, Pentagram, Saint Vitus, The Sword, Graveyard and more.

U.S. Tour Dates (all shows supporting DOWN)

January 26     Denver, CO             Summit Music Hall
January 28     Minneapolis, MN     First Avenue
January 29     Milwaukee, WI        The Rave
January 30     Cincinnati, OH        Bogart’s
February 1     Chattanooga, TN     Track 29

VENOMOUS MAXIMUS’ sound combines intense, unabashed metal riffing that locks into heavy rock grooves featuring interjected dual leads and surprisingly darkened atmospheres. Add to it the distinctive voice of towering front man Gregg Higgins and his unorthodox, unsettling tone, unholy sinister laugh and unchained lyrics described as “primal psychomagic”, detailing “paths of doom”, dying witches, moon worship, haunted graveyards and travel through space and time, and the speed of the band’s bat out of hell success becomes surprisingly clear.

VENOMOUS MAXIMUS: Gregg Higgins (Vocals, Guitar), Christian Larson (Guitar),Trevi Biles (Bass) and Bongo (Drums)

“Texas cult metallers Venomous Maximus will appeal to fans of proto-metal bands such as Pentagram and Sir Lord Baltimore and current sludge fiends like High on Fire and Red Fang.” – AOL NOISECREEP

“The occult imagery might tip your expectations toward a blackened doom sound, but truthfully these guys are more of a traditional, uptempo stoner band. It would be unfair to say Venomous Maximus sound like former touring mates (and distant neighbors) The Sword, but it would be totally accurate to say that if you like The Sword this is exactly the kind of 70’s-drenched, weed toking rock ‘n roll that’s right up your alley. The riff is dominant, the mood is “let’s party”, the fists are pumping.” – METAL INJECTION

“doom-y guitars, witchcraft-obsessed lyrics…These guys basically take the modern form of doom-metal and drag it backwards ’til it sounds like it might’ve if Phil Lynott & co. had gone through a “doom period” prior to Think Lizzy’s demise.”
– SPACE ROCK CITY

“Iron Maiden via High on Fire…a kind of post-Mastodonic punk. Venomous Maximus could hit on an excellent balance of familiar and genre-defying, ultimately adding to their home state’s storied legacy of heavy. Recommended.”
– THE OBELISK

“This is some prime-evil, straight wicked mischievous type stuff. These guys know how to raise hell. Period.” – EXAMINER.com

MUTINY WITHIN Activate Anti-Piracy Thing, New Single

MUTINY WITHIN is giving fans a full taste of their upcoming album Synchronicity with the release of their first single Embers.

The band released a music video directed and produced by Tommy Jones (Suffocation, Kataklysm, Soilwork, All Shall Perish) for the song Embers, in partnership with Metal Injection.

The song is also available for purchase via MUTINY WITHIN Bandcamp

MUTINY WITHIN also partnered with Tommy Jones (the studio) in a brand new anti-piracy movement called Industry Embers.

In a society where downloading music for free has become accepted and even the norm, people on the outside rarely are able to grasp the true effects of their stealing and how it trickles down to all the aspects of the entire music industry.

Industry Embers is an anti-piracy organization and movement. The goal is to have individuals from different facets of the music industry spread the truth about the damaging effects piracy has on the music industry as a whole.

If you are purchasing music via service-based options, digital downloads, physical CDs, or vinyl, and paying the asking price, the industry salutes you. Industry Embers encourage fans and supporters of music and the Industry Embers objective to tweet their music purchases, regardless of genre, to @IndustryEmbers with the hashtag #BuyMusicOrItsByeMusic.

Jones and MUTINY WITHIN know the downside to piracy all too well.

Jones notes,

“The guys in Mutiny Within were perfect examples of the difficulty an extremely talented new band faces to succeed in this age of online piracy, even after being signed to one of the largest metal labels.”

If you are reading this message, then you too are affected by piracy.  Support music.  Educate yourself.
