IN SOLITUDE Announce New Album, Stream Title Track

Sweden’s In Solitude have announced their third album, “Sister.” The album will be released on October 1st in North America and September 27/30 in Europe/UK. The title track from “Sister” is streaming now on metalblade.com/insolitude, where fans can also pre-order the CD, CD/T-shirt bundle, vinyl, as well as a digital copy via iTunes.

Vocalist Pelle Åhman speaks on behalf of In Solitude:

“It’s time to release our third album, and things have never felt this clear and pervasive before. This is a feeling that has permeated our whole lives during the latest year of writing and recording this album, as well as digesting and dealing with its consequences. And it has been wonderful, overwhelming and utterly devastating. Which, in the world of In Solitude, are very positive things, and exactly what was required.

“It is a very special album for us, and I am very thankful and proud of my brothers (including our great friend, and producer, Martin Konie Ehrencrona), for this is truly the most visceral music we’ve ever made, and we can’t wait for you to experience it too.

“You come without. And all falls within. There is a light in the world. There is a stone to the head.”

“Sister” was recorded at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden during March 2013. The album was produced and mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona and stands as a logical next step above and beyond its predecessor, “The World. The Flesh. The Devil.” In Solitude’s strength resides in their ability to craft dark and oppressive atmospheres within the auditory realm of classic heavy metal. “Sister” compounds this trademark sound further, beginning with the acoustic intro, “He Comes,” and saturates the record in an aura of uniqueness; see: “Lavender” and the title track.

The album concludes with an 8-minute, driving, near trance-like opus that features guest guitarist Pelle Forsberg (Watain). Additionally, Jarboe of Swans fame can be heard on “Horses in the Ground.” Moods range from Mercyful Fate-esque guitar flavors, shadows of Black Sabbath, the heavy dissonance of Swans, to straight-forward, ear worm riffs. In any case, one thing can be said for certain: their delivery is as genuine as it is impressive.

North American fans will have an opportunity to see In Solitude live this Fall. The band will be supporting Watain on their “Wild Hunt” tour beginning on October 8th in New York City. The tour also features support from Tribulation. Dates can be found below, as well as on facebook.com/insolitudeofficial.

DISSENSION Announce Debut Album Release Date, Streaming Title Track

Sharing the stage with international heavyweights like Tyr, Threat Signal and Cryptopsy plus performing in front of their hometown crowd at Heavy MTL 2011 along with recently being finalists at Wacken Metal Battle Canada, Dissension’s eclectic mix of thrash, black and power metal attacks the darker side of human nature, reaching epic heights and somber depths. Their debut’s ten brutal assaulting tracks were produced by Kevin Jardine of Uplift Productions, (Slaves on Dope, What Comes To Life, One) and mastered by Ryan Morey (Arcade Fire, Priestess, Half Moon Run).

Dissension is now streaming their first single off the debut at the following links below.

Vocalist / guitarist Nathan Afilalo comments:

“Having been a band for about six years, we have long anticipated the great day where we could let our music take flight upon the winds of the world.  With that in mind, Of Time and Chronic Disease is a summation of our music since it contains some of our very earliest songs to some of our latest. The album has to be taken as a whole, as the individual songs all represent a different facet of the whole that is our music. It’s like a hydra, the beast can only truly be slain if you remove all of its heads and immerse yourself in the dark pools of its blood.”

The band will be holding CD launch in Montreal, QC on September 13th at Foufounes Electriques with local support from Skeleris, Murtenscythe, Intonate, Citizen Vicious.

SHINING Announces North American Tour Dates

Norwegian industrial jazz-metalists SHINING are excited to announce dates for a headlining North American tour this fall, including the group’s first-ever performances in Canada. This marks the group’s first North American activity since an acclaimed set at a South By Southwest in 2012. Support acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Front man Jørgen Munkeby made the following statement:

“It’s about f**king time we come over to the States’ has become quite a mantra for me in the last few years. So after a while of fooling around with a bunch of different support tour options, we just decided to grab the bull by its horns and book our own headliner tour! It’s going to be some crazy nights of pounding Blackjazz energy you don’t want to miss!”

SHINING released the completion of their avant-garde “Blackjazz” trilogy, “One One One,” via Prosthetic Records earlier this year. Mixed and co-produced by Sean Beaven (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Slayer) and mastered by Tom Baker at Precision Mastering (A7X, Deftones, Ministry), the album was described as “a corrosive and creative hybrid of industrial vocals and beats, jazz signatures and black metal aesthetics” by Noisey while being likened to Nine Inch Nails and King Crimson by Pitchfork due to its “throbbing electronics.”
