KRAMPUS Release New Song Sampler

Italy‘s folk metal heroes KRAMPUS have posted a video interview with lead singer Filippo Gianotti. Fil answers some of the questions fans have sent in since the release of KRAMPUS’ new single “Paralysis”, which has received broad reactions and caused quite a bit of controversy among fans of both the band and the genre. Also included is a sneak peek of KRAMPUS’ upcoming second new song, which will again be free to download and share for everyone.

The band comments:

“You ask, we answer! Here’s a video interview with Fil, replying to some of the questions you’ve asked since the release of our new track “Paralysis”. Better still – enjoy a sneak peek of our next free song “Butterflies On Fire” at the end!” http://youtu.be/jpD5QGGCPiI

KRAMPUS released a new track back in September. The song, along with almost a full album’s worth of material, was written mere months after the release of the band’s first full length album in 2012. Produced by Tommy Vetterli (Eluveitie, Coroner), “Paralysis”  breaks with the band’s musical past as well as genre conventions, while taking the combination of authentic folk instrumentation with modern metal a bold step further.

HARSH TOKE to Release Debut LP

Psychedelic rockers HARSH TOKE explore sound and space through music. On the San Diego Acid Rock band‘s debut album Light Up and Live, loud, heavy guitars, swimming bass lines and smashing drums warp to full throttle, working together to launch the group’s “Haze Maze” of unapologetic psychedelic-blues into interstellar overdrive. Recorded by Brian Ellis (also of the prog-rock band ASTRA) and mastered by Carl Saff (Earthless, OFF!, Unsane), HARSH TOKE‘s Light Up and Live will be released on November 19 via Tee Pee.

Led by ripping pro skater and rip-roaring guitarist Justin “Figgy” FigueroaHARSH TOKE are equal parts atmospheric and anarchic, merging raging, blind fury musicianship with unprecedented white-knuckle volume abuse. Tense and surreal, HARSH TOKES‘ songs slowly build from hallucinatory haze into grand overtures of noise and feedback; a cosmic buffet of pounding, pummeling and punishing planes of sound. Heavy. Cosmic. Kinetic.
HARSH TOKE lay down sizzling grooves with every needle on the soundboard pinned to the red. If Blue Cheer could be called “Louder than God” in 1968, forty five years later, HARSH TOKE can easily be pegged as “Louder than Satan.” Run for your lives – into the din.
Tracklisting:
     1.) Rest in Prince (4:11)
2.) Weight of the Sun (14:28)
3.) Light Up and Live (9:46)
4.) Plug In to the Moon (10:08)
HARSH TOKE: Justin “Figgy” Figueroa (Guitar), Richie Belton (Bass), Austin “Buya” Ayub (Drums) and Gabe Messer (Keyboards).
Updated news and tour information available via ACTION! PR online (website / facebook / twitter)
“HARSH TOKE’s space-rock will take your mind on a cosmic journey through the rings of Saturn and back again.  They’ve transcended the plateau of time and space and their galactic forefathers from the ’70’s underground would be very proud to call them their own.  Inhale deep and take it down you sissy.” – FRONT

Members of DARK ANGEL Address Rumors, Again…

Each member of Dark Angel has come forward to express thoughts about future touring rumors spreading wildly across the web.

“I’m here to state that again, DFA is still talking about doing shows in 2014. As of now, none of the members have booked anything in regards to fests or individual dates. Of course, there are the rumors of certain fests being booked, but any talks that may have occurred, were done so without the ENTIRE bands’ knowledge and acquiescence, and therefore cannot be deemed as credible. One thing that holds true to us is that we feel that Dark Angel’s legacy is in danger of being tarnished if these random acts were to continue. There are a host of valid reasons why Dark Angel has been slow to react to the myriad offers we have received in the past to reunite, but the most important reason is that we wish to do the greatest service possible to our fans, and if that means the time has yet to be right, then the time has not been right. And, concerning the immediate future of 2014, if the time and conditions are not right, then again, they will not be right for all involved. Most importantly, our fans.

We do realize that yes, reunions are quite the norm these days. Dark Angel however, has never conformed to the norm, and we refuse to reunite unless we can come back and give our fans the most stellar situation possible. Which is precisely what we are working towards behind the scenes. We greatly appreciate everyone’s enthusiastic response to the possibility of a proper reunion, and as a unit, Dark Angel will do what will be best. For us and our amazing fan base. Again, we truly appreciate all of you.”

Thank you,

Gene Hoglan

“To our Kick Ass Fans:

It has come to my attention that shows are being booked and promises being made in the name of Dark Angel and some of it’s former members. No one as far as I know, has been given authority to speak for or conduct business on behalf of Dark Angel, myself or any other Ex member. Not to mention making any promises regarding the future of the band. There are other Ex members who would love to be Involved in this if it is done correctly! And protect our Legacy!

I and others behind the scenes here have asked other ex members many times to stop the postings on Face Book, other web sites, and doing interviews regarding the future of the band. But it continues…. This is all premature. There have been NO rehearsals yet, and little if any face-to-face meetings. But we are talking about 2014!

I’m all for a guy doing an interview and talking about his glory days with the band. But if you start making unapproved statements about the future of the Band? You’re off course!

When I was last in the band Ron Rinehart was my singer. And IF the band were to come back and continue. he would STILL be my singer. He was our Rock when we needed him and there is NO WAY I would do this without him. He and I talk daily and are as close now as ever. If anything all this talk has brought us all back into more frequent contact! Which is a wonderful thing.

I wish the very best for any ex DA member in their endeavors. In fact I encourage them to write their own music come up with their own band name and get out there and play! But to lead the fans to believe anyone other than RON would be fronting Dark Angel, and that this band will be allowed to do anything without its Key Members just is not true.

The Legend cannot truly “Return” unless the KEY members are on board!

I look forward to 2014. And I believe we can make some special things happen!”

Jim Durkin

“In regards to Dark Angel and the present situation: Dark Angel has at no time given any authorization to any of our former members to book shows, personal appearances etc. Any shows promises, personal appearances etc. Fall under the responsibility of the individual who made those promises not Dark Angel the music group.

Dark Angel believes in providing our incredible fans with the best show that we can possibly deliver, as well as protecting our valued legacy.

Any future statements will come from Dark Angel or our management.”

– Ron Rinehart

“I just want to make a statement about the possibility of a Dark Angel reunion. It is true that we are talking about doing a run next year, but we are still in the early stages of this discussion.   We all plan to sit down together in the near future and reconnect and jam a bit. I’m looking forward to seeing the guys again.  We will keep you posted as things develop.  I can’t emphasize enough that this is just discussing a reunion.  I have not agreed to any appearances yet.  Hopefully, things will work out.

I am currently playing in VIKING, as most of you know, our new album titled, “No Child Left Behind,” will be dropping very soon. I am very excited about this band and album. It is the first album Gene and I have played together on since Time Does Not Heal and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. It’s brutal!

In closing, I just want to thank everyone for their support and friendship.  Hopefully I’ll be seeing you on the road very soon!”

KILL DIVISION Launch New Song, Album Pre-Orders

The newly formed death metal group, Kill Division, composed of Richard Ebisch (guitars, bass, vocals), Susan Gerl (guitars, vocals) and Roel Sanders (drums), have finally unveiled new music from their upcoming album, “Destructive Force.” The first single, “Locked Up Forever,” was written by Gerl, who penned the lyrics for the entire record. The song was written about Natascha Kampusch, an Austrian woman who was held prisoner and tormented in a cellar for over eight years. The story made headlines in 2006 worldwide. Fans can hear “Locked Up Forever” now at metalblade.com/killdivision.

Destructive Force was recorded at Toneshed studio, the place they called home for many late nights, and mixed and mastered in Andy Classen‘s Stage One studio with hammer, care, and kerosene.

Musically, Destructive Force represents the group’s collective efforts. When the band first began rehearsing, they used some of Richard Ebisch’s old recordings as a starting point. Ebisch clarifies that they “had some very old recordings we used as a starting point for the first two or three songs, but changed and omitted riffs together. After the first three songs had been written that way, Susan and I started writing different, new riffs and combined them into songs.” Drummer Roel Sanders also added to the album, either by simply humming riffs, or rearranging song structures. In any case, Ebisch states clearly that “this entire album was written in the rehearsal room as a band process to which each band member contributed equally.”

Both Richard Ebisch and Susan Gerl tracked the vocals for Destructive Force. This is something neither guitarist had done in the past. Gerl comments, “recording the vocals was initially a challenge for us since we are first and foremost guitarists. Neither of us had any experience with singing that long and that much and recording our vocals this way. I used to do some additional vocals with my previous bands but had never recorded any vocals for a full length CD. But we were really well-prepared and had practiced our singing extensively beforehand. The recordings went smoothly and we are really happy with the way our voices sound on the album.”

On Destructive Force, expect a practiced, precise, and mercilessly heavy attack from three veterans of the European death metal scene!

WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH Announce Hiatus

Post-hardcore metal vanguards WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH announced that they will go on an “indefinite hiatus.”

After 8 years, 4 critically-acclaimed full length albums, and several well-received splits and EPs in between, the band have announced a departure date at the end of December. Regarding their imminent hiatus, the band have issued the following statement:

“Today we are writing to all of you with some bad news. You might have heard the rumors or read some press releases and they are right, but only to an extent: WFAHM is going into an indefinite hiatus at the end of the year.

There are a lot of reasons for us to make that move and believe me when I say that it’s not an easy decision. But it feels like it’s something we just have to do at this point. The last 7, 5 years have been awesome for the most part and we’re grateful for all the experiences and new friends we have made while traveling the world to show people what we’re all about. We have toured places we never thought we’d get to see, such as Australia, Russia, almost the entire USA and all across Europe of course. We have made friends for life on the road. We have grown immensely as musicians and turned this band into something we are very proud of.

Being in this band has been a great experience for each and everyone of us and it took us to places and opened up doors we couldn’t even dream of. Being that the band started as a side project, we always stuck to the original spirit of making music that was outside of the box and therefor survived much longer than a lot of bands who were trying to be a part of certain hypes. We never cared for that, we just wanted to do our own thing and feel like we have achieved that. We want to thank everyone who’s involvement made it possible for us to do what we do… you most definitely know who you are.

The scene we’re a part of used to be an inspiring subculture but has turned into an abortion of mainstream accessibility, with choreographed stage moves and cute little matching outfits. It’s frustrating to witness and really makes it less fun to go out and play with new bands sometimes. However, this is not a breakup, it’s a hiatus. Sooner or later we might find the urge to come back and slay!”

The band has scheduled a final string of live dates, including some festival appearances. A full list of the band’s final confirmed tour dates can be found below.

MAGNUS RISING Studio Footage, Live Dates

Whatever It Takes is the title of new, hard-hitting album from Canadian heavy-metallers, MAGNUS RISING. Check out the official album teaser with some great studio and live footage here: http://vimeo.com/50507783.

In other news, MAGNUS RISING can now announce that they will be performing at a festival in Canada this August with headliners 3 Inches of Blood. More details soon. Also, the band is finishing up on their new music video for the The Drill.

Whatever It Takes is about making music on the band’s terms and defying the odds. MAGNUS RISING have soared, trekking back and forth across the country, always working to rock bigger crowds in more bad-ass venues. In their western home, they’ve opened for metal powerhouses Iced Earth, Forbidden and Raven – bands who have showed them that time is irrelevant. Their dedication has paid off in droves building a sound all their own. Layered with emotion, feeling and aggression, MAGNUS RISING is reminiscent of a passionate punch in the jaw.
