On the heels of the recent cancellation of their Australian tour, EYEHATEGOD was regrettably forced to postpone their three-day run through Mexico as well.
Since part of the problem included long flights, EYEHATEGOD recently embarked upon two separate short runs of shows on the West and East coast, fully against doctor’s orders. These shows were found to be physically draining and a detriment, performance-wise, to Williams. Williams – who is currently dealing with exhaustion and chronic fatigue from a near nonstop tour schedule over the last five years — is resting, healing and catering to his health and will be ready to conquer Europe and the UK on tour this April. Over two-and-a-half decades, EYEHATEGOD has helped define the NOLA sound: down-tuned, blues-inflected guitars awash in furious distortion, underpinning the tormented screams of Mike IX Williams over a thundering rhythm section. Following well over a decade-and-a-half between studio albums, EYEHATEGOD reemerged stronger and more determined than ever before with 2014’s EyeHateGod, their first for Housecore Records, the album placing the band in even higher regards with critics and fans abroad. An exclamation mark on an already storied career, a statement of rebirth, catharsis, self-preservation and a sign of things to come, the chart topping album destroyed its way through the press, including dominating year-end lists everywhere, including the coveted #1 spot of Spin’s 20 Best Albums Of 2014, the #14 spot of Pitchfork’s Best Metal Albums Of 2014, the #30 slot of Decibel’s Top 40 Albums Of 2014, the #14 position on Wondering Sounds’ 25 Best Metal Albums Of 2014, #8 on OC Weekly’s 10 Best Metal Albums Of 2014, #2 on Exclaim’s Top Ten Metal And Hardcore Albums Of 2014 and countless others, proving that EYEHATEGOD continues to burn down everything in their path and remains one of the most important extreme music acts in the world. Orders for EyeHateGod can be placed via Housecore Records HERE. http://www.mikeix.com |

SKELETONWITCH: ‘Unfit’ For Disney, But Fit For A Wedding
Fresh off a short run of dates supporting Ghost B.C., the Athens, Ohio-based blackened metal quintet SKELETONWITCH has announced a hometown release party for their highly anticipated new album, “Serpents Unleashed,” which will take place on the eve of the kickoff to their extensive North American fall tour with The Black Dahlia Murder. Tickets for the event — which will take place at The Union (18 W. Union St., Athens) on Oct. 23 — are just $10.
The Black Dahlia tour will be quickly followed by another lap around America in early 2014, this time alongside Amon Amarth and Enslaved. Unfortunately for fans in Orlando — where the tour stops on Jan. 27 — SKELETONWITCH will not be allowed to perform at the local House of Blues, as the group has joined the likes of Exodus, Machine Head and others who have been deemed “unfit to be associated with” Disney, on whose property the venue is located.
Although SKELETONWITCH might not be welcome at the Magic Kingdom, a California couple has asked the band to make their dreams come true. During the band’s live performance in Fresno on Nov. 15, local fans Travis Bartlett and Lanae Forrest will get married on stage — making local venue Strummer’s their own happiest place on Earth.
Says groom-to-be Bartlett,
“Lanae and I are taken aback and beyond elated that SKELETONWITCH are willing to be a part of the most important day of our lives. There really aren’t words to show our appreciation for the band being with us as we begin our lives together.”
Commemorating the group’s 10-year anniversary, “Serpents Unleashed” — recorded earlier this year with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Isis, High on Fire), and featuring artwork by John Baizley (Baroness, Kylesa, Kvelertak) — will be released in North America on Oct. 29, in Australia and G/A/S on Oct. 25 and in the UK/EU on Oct. 28. Pre-order packages are currently available in a variety of physical formats at www.skeletonwitch.com, while digital pre-orders — which offer an instant download of new song “I Am Of Death (Hell Has Arrived)” — are available now on both iTunes and Bandcamp.
See for yourself whether SKELETONWITCH are “unfit to be associated with” at one of their below dates.
IN SOLITUDE Premiere New Single
Head over to the VICE’s music destination, Noisey, to listen to a brand new track from Swedish classic heavy metal band, In Solitude. Click HERE to stream “A Buried Sun.” The band’s new album Sister is dropping in North America on 10/01 and will be available to fans digitally, on CD, and 180 gram black vinyl. Fans can check out the first single and title track “Sister” at MetalBlade.com/InSolitude.
Fans can also pick up the upcoming issue of Decibel Magazine, November issue #109-out October 3, which features In Solitude on the cover which was shot by internationally-renowned metal and rock photographer Ester Segarra in Sweden. If you aren’t already a subscriber you can check your local bookstore or order from Decibel directly at the following location.
“Sister” was recorded at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden during March 2013. The album was produced and mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona and stands as a logical next step above and beyond its predecessor, “The World. The Flesh. The Devil.” In Solitude’s strength resides in their ability to craft dark and oppressive atmospheres within the auditory realm of classic heavy metal. “Sister” compounds this trademark sound further, beginning with the acoustic intro, “He Comes,” and saturates the record in an aura of uniqueness; see: “Lavender” and the title track.
The album concludes with an 8-minute, driving, near trance-like opus that features guest guitarist Pelle Forsberg (Watain). Additionally, Jarboe of Swans fame can be heard on “Horses in the Ground.” Moods range from Mercyful Fate-esque guitar flavors, shadows of Black Sabbath, the heavy dissonance of Swans, to straightforward, earworm riffs. In any case, one thing can be said for certain: their delivery is as genuine as it is impressive.
North American fans will have an opportunity to see In Solitude live this Fall. The band will be supporting Watain on their “Wild Hunt” tour beginning on October 8 in New York City. The tour also features support from Tribulation. Dates can be found below, as well as on facebook.com/insolitudeofficial.

SCALE THE SUMMIT Announce Tour With TESSERACT, ANCIIENTS
Fresh off a successful tour with Intronaut, instrumental progressive quartet SCALE THE SUMMIT will return to the road this fall during a North American tour with Tesseract. The three-week trek — which immediately follows Tesseract’s tour with Katatonia and Cult of Luna — kicks off in Canada on Oct. 9 and also features opening act Anciients.
In addition, SCALE THE SUMMIT was recently invited to take part in next year’s Cruise To The Edge with legendary English group Yes, with whom they will also take the stage this weekend at the inaugural progressive rock festival Yestival at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ. This marks another addition to the impressive list of groups SCALE THE SUMMIT will have performed alongside, a who’s-who of progressive metal ranging from modern genre leaders Protest the Hero, Periphery and Between The Buried And Me to iconic acts such as Dream Theater, Cynic and Devin Townsend.
Upon its June release, SCALE THE SUMMIT’s new album The Migration cracked the Billboard Top 200, peaking at #3 on the magazine’s Heatseekers chart. Recorded at Basement Studios with Jamie King (BTBAM), The Migration received a perfect 10/10 score from Outburn Magazine and a near-perfect 4.5-star rating from Alternative Press, who labeled the album “post-rock at its most melodic and dynamic best.”
