LOCRIAN Premiere New Album & Video

Esoteric, experimental artisan’s Locrian premiere their new video for Eternal Return off of their new full-length Return To Annihilation. The video was directed by Aleks Slota and is available via Stereogum here.

Return To Annihilation is available everywhere worldwide. The entire album is currently available for streaming via their Bandcamp page here. Additionally, the band is featured on the latest episode of the Relapse Records podcast talking about the new record and selecting some of their favorite obscure tracks from the label’s catalog. The podcast is available for free download here.

The album was recorded with Greg Norman (Pelican, Russian, Circles, Serena Maneesh) at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, IL and mastered by Jason Ward at Chicago Mastering Service.

A two-part concept album inspired by the band’s love for prog-rock progenitors Genesis, Yes & King Crimson, Return To Annihilation is easily the group’s most ambitious recordings to date, dubbed by Pitchfork as both “excellent” and “risky”, by Stereogum as “a corona of dream-pop and visceral shoegaze” and Outburn Magazine as “an excellent effort from one of the world’s most creative, interesting, and uncompromising bands.”

Physical CD and 2xLP orders are available via Relapse here and digital orders available via Bandcamp here.

Locrian, located in Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD, has released over 20 recordings on an eclectic array of labels in their relatively short but prolific career.

Additionally, the group has announced a short run of dates this June plus an appearance at Kentucky’s Boomslang Festival in September.  The shows kick off on June 27 in Montreal.

This is an excellent effort from one of the world’s most creative, interesting, and uncompromising bands” – Outburn

“If the wrath of heaven sounds anything like Locrian , then archangel Michael has been digging into the prog-rock bin lately” – NPR

“A corona of dream-pop and visceral shoegaze… goddamn is it good” – Stereogum

“Sliding some malicious black metal menace into the gaps created by their dreamlike, sometimes nightmarish, ambient drones… few albums prove to be quite so unsettling” – The Digital Fix

SKELETONWITCH Confirm Festival Appearances

Ohio-based metal heathens SKELETONWITCH, whose rigorous 2012 tour schedule was capped off by a marathon 10-week U.S. tour last fall, will perform at select festivals in the coming weeks. First, the band will make an exclusive appearance at Austin‘s prestigious South By Southwest (SXSW) festival as headliners for Pitchfork’s annual Show No Mercy showcase on Wednesday, March 13, where they will perform at the House of Vans at Mohawk at 5:30 pm alongside acts such as Pallbearer, Trash Talk, Royal Thunder and labelmates (and recent tourmates) MUTILATION RITES.

A free download of the band’s song This Horrifying Force (The Desire To Kill) is available for the next 30 days via NPR’s “The Austin 100,” which features 100 songs by artists to discover at this year’s SXSW, by clicking HERE.

Soon after SXSW, the band will head to GodCity Studios in Salem, Massachusettes with acclaimed producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, Kvelertak, Black Breath) to record their highly anticipated new album, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2011 release Forever Abomination which cracked Billboard’s Top 200 and landed the band a cover feature in Decibel Magazine. A fall release is expected.

SKELETONWITCH have also been confirmed to headline the 2013 Calgary Metal Fest, set to take place at Dickens Pub in June; additional details can be found at CalgaryMetalFest.com.
