Free Scion A/V EP Featuring VEKTOR

Scion A/V, the creative enterprise of Scion devoted to the discovery, nurture, funding and distribution of compelling music and arts programming today releases a special two track, 15 minute EP featuring the scintillating sounds of Philadelphia sci-fi thrash metal band VEKTOR. Recorded this past January at The Glass House in Pomona, California as part of the Scion-presented Earache Records label showcase (that also featured Oceano, Bonded By Blood and White Wizzard), the free EP features VEKTOR performing the mind-obliterating tracks Cosmic Cortex and Tetrastructural Minds. The EP is available as a free download now at ScionAV.com.

“Earache has introduced metal fans to many great bands over the years,” comments Jeri Yoshizu, manager of sales promotion for Scion.

“Vektor is a band that creates metal for fans of metal. We’re happy to work with them on this release.”

VEKTOR formed in 2002 in Tempe, Arizona and quickly established a name for itself by embracing heavy metal’s past while carving out an original niche; combining thrash with elements of black metal and progressive rock. The band’s labyrinthine songs question reality and existence while at the same time portraying the future as a dystopian wasteland destroyed by greed, power, corruption and control. Weird time signatures, banshee wails, eerie jazzy passages, over the top soloing and frontman David DiSanto’s banshee calls intertwine into cohesive, atom-smashing assaults that move from intricate progressive playing to breakneck thrashing in the blink of an eye. With vicious musicianship, complex composition and futuristic sci-fi themes, VEKTOR recalls the glory days of Voivod, Watchtower and Coroner as its herculean sound challenges the parameters of modern heavy metal.

VEKTOR EP tracklist:

1.) Cosmic Cortex (9:40)
2.) Tetrastructural Minds (5:27)

Earache Records was founded in 1987 by Digby “Dig” Pearson. The seminal UK label has launched the careers of many acts now widely considered pioneers of extreme metal including Napalm Death, Carcass, At The Gates, Morbid Angel, Cathedral, Bolt Thrower, Godflesh and Entombed and had a heavy hand in exposing underground music fans to the realms of death metal and grindcore music. Earache is currently celebrating more then two decades of bringing extreme music to the masses.

AMARANTHE Unveils Mechanical Illusion Video, The Nexus Available March 26 via Spinefarm Records

In the words of AMARANTHE guitarist/composer Olof Mörck,

“To give a second taster of The Nexus is truly exciting! The first single and title track showed a familiar, yet amped-up AMARANTHE. Mechanical Illusion is quite different from what people have heard from us so far. Probably the heaviest track yet, a dystopian vision steeped in a darkened futuristic atmosphere, combined with a mega-catchy chorus that is likely to ring in your head for days. Brace yourselves, the illusion is upon us!”

AMARANTHE recently released their new music video for the title track, The Nexus, which has racked up an impressive 916,000 views in just one month. The video is available now at this link. The video was directed by Patric Ullaeus, who has worked with names such as In Flames, Arch Enemy and Dimmu Borgir; he was also responsible for AMARANTHE video for The Hunger, the lead single from the band’s highly successful debut, now at a whopping 3.5 million YouTube views (and counting).

The Nexus was produced by Jacob Hansen (whose credits include Volbeat, Dreamshade & Ginger Wildheart, and who worked on AMARANTHE’s 2011 self-titled debut).

AMARANTHE: Andy – vocals, Jake E – vocals, Elize – vocals, Olof Mörck – guitars & keys, Morten Løwe Sørensen – drums, Johan Andreassen – bass

Regarding the cancelled dates, Dew-Scented commented,

“We apologize for any inconvenience this might produce and will be hopefully announcing re-scheduled dates for later this year very soon. However, we will still be appearing at Chaulnes Metal Fest 2013 since this show doesn’t clash with the other newly added dates. See you there”

Jersey Shore Roller Girls vs. Philly

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Jersey Shore Roller Girls “All Stars” are set to take on Philly Roller Girls “Block Party” on April 28th in Asbury Park’s Convention Hall. This is the first time that Jersey Shore and Philly will meet up on the track! While this is not Philly’s well known travel team, the Liberty Belles, this is still an exciting game for Jersey Shore in that Philly, whom is ranked number #2 in the East by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), has always been an inspiration team to our league!
As many of you know, JSRG is all about community and helping out in any way we can… next week at our game we are supporting The Animal Welfare Committee of Point Pleasant Borough.. their mission is simple.. they are a community involvement program working to protect, care for, and provide a safe and healthy environment for the cats/kittens in Point Pleasant, NJ.

They are always in need of help and will cheerfully accept your time, talent or funds. What they would love from our fans on Saturday, is a small token of love towards the animals they care for.. if every fan can bring one item from their wish list it would be great! Below is the list from the foundation..

* Right now we are in need of Friskies wet canned food, and Purina Dry cat chow, and Fancy Feast or Iams Wet canned kitten food or Purina dry kitten chow, Kitten mother replacement milk, powder or liquid, bottles. We use both clay litter and scoopable litter at our rescue. We are also always in need of laundry detergent and dish detergent, and paper towels as well. Monetary donations are always welcome and helps with the heavy cost of spays/neuters and veterinary care.

The April 28th bout also pairs with the Wonder Bar for the bout after party. Across the street from Convention Hall, the Wonder Bar will offer those bout attendees with a wristband no cover charge. The Roller Girls will be on hand and fully energized for any fans that want to keep the party going!

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first whistle blows at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are available online for $17 atwww.jerseyshorerollergirls.net or directly at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/239598.
