Swedish Death Metallers, GUTTER INSTINCT Unleash EP Deets

PROSTHETIC RECORDS
Swedish death metal quintet GUTTER INSTINCT will release their debut EP, the four-track “The Insurrection,” on May 19 (North America), May 18 (UK/EU) and May 22 (DE).
Recorded at Helsingborg’s Studio Mangelrum with Kristofer Orstadius, the band drew inspiration from newer bands such as Teitanblood, Bölzer, Grave Miasma, Black Witchery and Portal to expand their distinct grinding tone with dark, haunting blackened smatterings. Further details on the new EP will be released in the coming weeks, including the worldwide premiere of the new track “The Invisble Hand” on April 14. For now, listen to a teaser of what’s to come in the below video clip or via YouTube HERE.
GUTTER INSTINCT was founded in 2012 by Oscar Persson (guitars), Hannes Hellman (guitars) and Thomas Ernemyr (vocals) in Helsingborg, Sweden. With an aim to unleash music with no compromise or remorse, the band in 2013 recorded and self-released their first demo tape, “Obedience,” which focused on themes of oppression, anti-religion and anti-establishment. Receiving acclaim from Swedish press, the band went through a series of lineup changes before finalizing drummer Ola Håkansson and bassist Simon Isaksson. The group was quickly spotted by Prosthetic Records, who picked them up for an international, multi-album deal.

“Harbinger” — a follow up to MUTILATION RITES acclaimed underground debut “Empyrean” —  was released last summer via Prosthetic Records. Described as a “nightmarish merger between black, death, d-beat, and doom” (Pitchfork), the album was recorded by long-time friend and producer Kevin Bernsten (TRIAC) and mastered by James Plotkin (Pelican, Isis, SunnO))), Isis). Its eight tracks of “invigorating and nerve-wracking debauchery” (Dead Rhetoric) are perfectly accompanied visually by noted cover artist Valnoir (Psycroptic, Watain, The Black Dahlia Murder).

NERO DI MARTE To Release Split With VOID OF SLEEP

Italian atmospheric unit NERO DI MARTE will be releasing a split 7″ EP with Void of Sleep after both bands’ gear and equipment were stolen before a recent show in Rome.

The band stated:

“In less than 30 minutes, someone broke into our van and was able to take everything. It happened in broad daylight near a police station in Rome, despite there being a massive amount of police forces surveilling the area but, alas, no security cameras. Guitars, amps, pedal boards, drums, merchandise and personal belongings… a total of 25,000€ was stolen from both bands.”

The EP will consist of a new track from each group, which will be recorded at Studio 73 in Ravenna, Italy. The bands have set up a fundraiser through Indiegogo containing packages including signed merchandise, Skype lessons and even the opportunity for your own private show HERE:

Bands raising funds to replace stolen gear and equipment

NERO DI MARTE released their self-titled debut last spring. The album, available HERE, received high ratings from the press, including a 4/5 star review from Revolver (which described the band as “a gifted and talented love child of Leviathan-era Mastodon and latter-day Death”). Having previously performed in Europe alongside acts including Godflesh, Carcass, Immolation, Cynic, Decapitated, Red Fang and Svart Crown, the band recently completed first-ever North American tour alongside Gorguts and Origin.

SEPTICFLESH Begin Recording New Album

The Greek symphonic death metal act SEPTICFLESH has entered Devasoundz Studios in Athens to record the 10 songs that will appear on their new, as-yet-untitled full-length album, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2011 release “The Great Mass.” This time around, the band will record with producer and former Machine Head guitarist Logan Mader (Cavalera Conspiracy, Fear Factory, Gojira) while once again collaborating with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, the group will also utilize full regular and children’s choirs on the new album, which will surely further enhance the epic nature of their music.
Stay tuned to the band’s website for more information in the coming weeks: http://www.septicflesh.com/
SEPTICFLESH has earned extensive international acclaim for their eight albums to date, as well as their performances on tour alongside the likes of Cradle of Filth, Amon Amarth, Gorgoroth, Satyricon and Children of Bodom. The group, who recently headlined the “Conquerers of the World” North American tour, will take part in next year’s 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise. The band’s new album is scheduled to be released in North America via Prosthetic Records in early 2014

SHINING Announces North American Tour Dates

Norwegian industrial jazz-metalists SHINING are excited to announce dates for a headlining North American tour this fall, including the group’s first-ever performances in Canada. This marks the group’s first North American activity since an acclaimed set at a South By Southwest in 2012. Support acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Front man Jørgen Munkeby made the following statement:

“It’s about f**king time we come over to the States’ has become quite a mantra for me in the last few years. So after a while of fooling around with a bunch of different support tour options, we just decided to grab the bull by its horns and book our own headliner tour! It’s going to be some crazy nights of pounding Blackjazz energy you don’t want to miss!”

SHINING released the completion of their avant-garde “Blackjazz” trilogy, “One One One,” via Prosthetic Records earlier this year. Mixed and co-produced by Sean Beaven (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Slayer) and mastered by Tom Baker at Precision Mastering (A7X, Deftones, Ministry), the album was described as “a corrosive and creative hybrid of industrial vocals and beats, jazz signatures and black metal aesthetics” by Noisey while being likened to Nine Inch Nails and King Crimson by Pitchfork due to its “throbbing electronics.”

See/hear for yourself in their sci-fi influenced music video for the single “I Won’t Forget” HERE.
