BEHEMOTH: Revolver Magazine Unveils Exclusive Excerpts From Forthcoming Biography

unnamed (2)North American Live Takeover Continues

Next week, Metal Blade Records will unleash Behemoth: Devil’s Conquistadors. A definitive BEHEMOTH biography penned by Lukasz Dunaj, the stunning 490-page, hardcover tome takes an in-depth look at the history of the events that materially influenced the band, their music, their ultimate rise to the upper echelon of metal and becoming a household name in their native homeland of Poland. In addition to the author’s narrative, the book includes quotes and anecdotes from current and former BEHEMOTH members as well as interviews with Tomas Krajewski, Rob Darken, Graal, Havok, old photos of the band, flyers, lyric sheets and so much more. In the foreword by Krzysztof Azarewicz (Polish poet, writer, occultist and longtime lyric co-writer): “If, as a cultural anthropologist, I were to point to a single cosmic force which BEHEMOTH’s music expresses, I would name it not Satan but Dionysus. A deity that represents not only the intoxicating influence of cosmic energies and earthly benefits, but also their benevolent healing properties. A deity of strength and pride. A deity of creative might.

In advance of its release, today Revolver Magazine offers up an exclusive excerpt from the book where vocalist/guitarist Nergal recounts his early grade and high school years, his increasing interest in extreme music and his growing skepticism of Catholicism. Check it out at THIS LOCATION.

In related news, BEHEMOTH is currently damning stages throughout North America on a mammoth co-headlining tour with legendary death metal practitioners/labelmates, Cannibal Corpse. The month-long takeover continues to march its way across the country and will trample through nearly three-dozen cities upon its conclusion on March 7th in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Support comes from two of Sweden’s finest metal exports: Aeon and Tribulation. Reports The Dallas Observer of the band’s set, “BEHEMOTH’s credo is the power of the will, and it completely permeates their live show… On a starkly lit stage filled with cast-iron ritualistic symbols, vocalist and guitarist Nergal lurched around with the ease of a seasoned performer. He held the audience in his hand, and his performance alone made it plain why BEHEMOTH’s live show is so renowned.

RAM Present Brand New Video Clip

Swedish heavy metal act RAM recently shot a video for the song I Am The End from their latest release, Death. Metal Blade Records partnered with Revolver Magazine to premiere the video in North America. Click HERE to watch the new video now at revolvermag.com.

10th anniversary show in Gothenburg announced!

I Am The End was directed by Martin Högdal, edited by Leonard Palmestål and written by Oscar Carlquist – the same team that worked on the Flame Of The Tyrants video. The song was written by Harry Granroth and Oscar Carlquist.

Oscar Carlquist comments on the video:

“The I Am The End video shows a completely different side of the cinematic vision of RAM than what we created in the Flame Of The Tyrants video. This video displays a lot of esoteric aspects, and has many layers of symbolism that will not be seen at once. We thank everybody involved for their outstanding dedication to making flesh out of our disturbed visions.”

Fans can order Death and watch the video for Flames Of The Tyrants at metalblade.com/ram

In other news Daniel Johansson – guitarist and one of the founding members – has decided to leave the band. The departure was amicable and a replacement for Daniel has already been found. RAM are very happy and proud to welcome former RAM session guitarist Martin Jonsson as a fulltime member.

2013 marks the 10 year anniversary since RAM released their first release: the Sudden Impact EP. This will be celebrated on Friday, September 13. A concert has been booked in Gothenburg at the venue Sticky Fingers (Top Floor). The show will also feature special guests PORTRAIT and TRIAL. RAM’s performance will be filmed.

The Sudden Impact EP will be rereleased on vinyl only and in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies through Gothenburg based label Lake Of Fire productions. The EP will be released at the 10th anniversary concert.

RAM live shows:
19/07/13 FI – Lieto – Hammer Open Air
13/09/13 SE – Gothenburg – 10th Anniversary Show
19/10/13 NL – Amstelveen – Heavy Metal Maniacs Festival

“It’s an ‘imagine Ozzy and George Lynch joined Exodus’ pastiche” – Decibel Magazine

“Despite their Swedish origin, RAM bubbles over with the kind of British riffing and toe-tapping gallop pacing that so is so inseparable from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal” – BloodyGoodHorror.com

“as muscular and dynamic as it is epic and catchy” – Kerrang Magazine

“The album shines for its riffs. Songs like Comes from the Mouth Beyond and Release Me feature a flawless lead guitar; although it’s definitely classic heavy metal, it’s played in a much more aggressive manner, making it something akin to Saxon on a cocaine binge” – MetalSucks.net

Prosthetic Records to Release GOJIRA Re-Issues

By popular demand, Prosthetic Records will soon issue gatefold double-LP editions of the two albums that rocketed the French progressive tech-death quartet GOJIRA from the European underground to international stardom. From Mars To Sirius and The Way Of All Flesh – two of the most acclaimed metal releases of the past decade – will be released on vinyl on August 27. Pre-orders are available now.

Selected praise for From Mars To Sirius:
* Decibel Magazine Top 10 of 2006
* “Epic…a masterpiece…9/10.” — Blabbermouth
* “One of the year’s freshest metal inventions” — L.A. Times
* Revolver Magazine #4 release of 2006

Originally issued overseas in 2005, From Mars To Sirius – released by Prosthetic in 2006, and never before available on LP in North America – was the Western Hemisphere’s formal introduction to GOJIRA. One of MetalSucks‘ Top 10 “best metal albums of the 21st Century so far,” the album was supported by U.S. tours with the likes of Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Machine Head, Behemoth and Amon Amarth. The gatefold 2-LP set will be available in three 180-gram variants: “Eco-Green” (600 copies), “Mars Red” (200 copies) and “Sea Blue” (200 copies), the latter two of which are mail-order exclusives.

Selected praise for The Way Of All Flesh:
* Decibel Magazine Top 15 of 2008
* Revolver Magazine #2 release of 2008
* “likely to be every bit as vital 10 years from now” – Kerrang!
* Metal Hammer Magazine #5 release of 2008

Engineered, mixed and mastered by Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, DevilDriver, Fear Factory), follow-up The Way Of All Flesh (2008) cemented GOJIRA’s status as one of metal’s most important acts. The band’s first release to crack the Billboard Top 200, the album – which features a guest appearance by Lamb of God front man Randy Blythe – was supported by tours with the likes of In Flames and All That Remains, in addition to a month touring North American arenas with Metallica. The gatefold 2-LP set marks the first time in three years that the album will be available on vinyl, and it will be offered in two new variants: 180-gram clear (500 copies), and a mail-order exclusive, standard-weight blue/white split vinyl (500 copies).

Over its 15-year history, Los Angeles-based Prosthetic Records has proudly helped to establish the careers of alumni such as Lamb of God, All That Remains, Animals As Leaders, The Acacia Strain and Kylesa, in addition to current roster heavyweights such as Skeletonwitch, Scale The Summit and Holy Grail. The label’s two GOJIRA releases are among the best-selling titles in its catalog.

For more than a decade, Chimaira has been imposing its gravity on the metal community by continually touring the globe and selling more than a million albums worldwide. In 2013, Chimaira continues to direct the masses & define a dark future with their new album, Crown of Phantoms.

Make no mistake; a monster has come in from the darkness to feed. Awakened, haunted, pissed-off, and above all, completely aware. You have no choice but to allow Chimaira to transcend your expectations yet again.
