SHAI HULUD Announce Tour Dates with MADBALL, THE OVERSEER

Shai Hulud will return to the road this Fall for dates throughout the East Coast. Fans can catch Hulud throughout October on select dates with Madball, The Overseer, Octaves, and Face All Fears. The full list of dates and the lineup for each show can be found below, as well as on facebook.com/shaihuludofficial.

Reach Beyond the Sun, the fourth entry in Shai Hulud’s storied catalog, will see was released in February of 2013. The album was produced by current New Found Glory guitarist, Chad Gilbert, and notably, vocalist on Hulud’s debut LP Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion. In addition to producing, Gilbert also returned to sing on the album – his first offering of recorded vocals with the band in over a decade. Not unlike Shai Hulud’s previous releases, Reach Beyond the Sun was born of several years of toiling before ever entering a studio. The band’s previous effort, Misanthropy Pure, a polished, metallic and frenzied piece of masterwork, is contrasted by the much more visceral, instinctively compositional songs found on Reach Beyond the Sun, an embracement of the raw Hardcore/Punk elements that sit at the cornerstone of the band’s influences.

Longtime bass player Mad Matt Fletcher asserts, “Anyone who really knows the band will agree this album is our definitive sound, encompassing all of our different influences and styles.”

He conclusively reiterates, “Yep, this sounds like Shai Hulud.”

SHAI HULUD, EARTH CRISIS Announce East/West Tour

After completing an extremely successful tour of Europe in support of Propagandhi, followed by a headlining tour, SHAI HULUD returned to the states and are preparing for their next set of confirmed shows. In July, fans on the east coast will be treated to a handful of shows featuring Earth Crisis as part of their Firestorm 20th Anniversary Tour. Additional support for the east coast portion of the tour from Thy Will Be Done and White Widows. Additional SHAI HULUD shows are confirmed for June, and July, including an appearance at Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, QC. For the complete listing, see below, or visit facebook.com/shaihulud.

SHAI HULUD’s Matt Fox reflects on 2013:

“2013 has been a banner year for Shai Hulud, and it’s not even summer yet. Seeing the release of Reach Beyond The Sun, touring Australia as a part of the Soundwave Festival (headlined by Metallica – pretty much the reason we play heavy music) and having just returned from Europe after a tour with one of our favorite bands, Propagandhi, has made this year thus far both a blur and a dream, or one and the same depending on how well you remember your dreams, if you can remember them at all. 2013 is one dream we won’t soon forget, etched further into our memory receptors – if there are such things – with the dates we confirmed with Earth Crisis, a huge and direct influence on the formation and existence of Shai Hulud. This is a special year for us, and we’re grateful not only to share it with those who find something in our music that speaks to them, but also with so many of the bands whose music has spoken, and still speaks to us.”

In other news, French metal vocalist Rachel Aspe, known across the internet for her appearance on France’s Got Talent, posted a vocal cover of SHAI HULUD’s Reach Beyond the Sun. Hear it on Aspe’s YouTube channel – youtube.com/rachelaspemetal. Fans can also see Rachel Aspe live as the new vocalist of French Metal band Eths. For more info, visit facebook.com/EthsPage.

SHAI HULUD, THY WILL BE DONE Tour Underway

Shai Hulud recently returned from their performances in Australia as part of the Soundwave Festival, but they got back in the van and headed out on tour in North America with Thy Will Be Done. The tour includes support from up-and-coming acts Altars, and Beyond the Shore. After this tour wraps up on April 7, Shai Hulud will board their flights for Europe for their tour with Propagandhi. Shai Hulud’s entire confirmed list of dates can be found on the TOUR DATES page.

Guitarist and found member Matt Fox reflects on the band’s year thus far:

“2013, what a year… Thus far, we’ve shared new music with our friends and supporters who encourage us and keep us alive. We were fortunate enough to have just returned from the Soundwave festival in Australia where we made new friends, and saw the bands whose albums are the primary reasons we play the music we do (Thank you Master Of Puppets, Reign In Blood, Among The Living, and Blood, Sweat, And No Tears). We soon leave for Europe with Propagandhi, another one of our favorite bands, and what’s more… in just two days we share the stage with some of the best friends we have ever made in our years of touring, Thy Will Be Done. Joining us on this jaunt are our soon to be friends, Altars, and Beyond The Shore. This is a lot of love and appreciation for a band of self-proclaimed pure misanthropists constantly talking about their ‘Profound Hatred Of Man.’ Who knew…

We’re happy to contradict ourselves in this fashion.

Come share the love.

Profoundly hating,”
Shai Hulud

BEYOND THE SHORE Post Studio Update Video

Beyond the Shore posted a DIY studio update on metalblade.com/beyondtheshore. The studio update, which admittedly contains less studio and more funny antics, is the first in a series of four updates that will be made available over the next few weeks. In other news, the band recently completed a brand new music video for Homewrecker. The video was directed by Coleman Saunders for Americus Studios and is a visually stunning piece of art that will see its debut on February 25. Still images will be released on-line leading up to the premiere to give fans a small glimpse of the visuals they can expect.

Beyond the Shore posts studio update; new music video completed
New album Ghostwatcher slated for April 2 release

About Beyond the Shore:
In 2008, the Lexington-Fayette, KY quintet formed when the members were still in high school. Relentlessly booking shows, touring and balancing school at the same time, BEYOND THE SHORE had the privilege of sharing the stage with acts such as: Born Of Osiris, Shai Hulud, MyChildren MyBride, Of Machines, After The Burial and many more. BEYOND THE SHORE has created quite a buzz in the short time they have been a band.

The band’s first release, The Arctic Front EP (2009), was produced by Kelly Cairns and recorded at Lambesis Studios (As I Lay Dying, War Of Ages, Austrian Death Machine, Impending Doom) in San Marcos, California. The band’s debut release helped to build an impressive internet buzz, starting with the release of the first single Shotgun Sunrise. After playing several shows in support of the debut EP, BEYOND THE SHORE began work on their full-length, Ghostwatcher.

In 2012, BEYOND THE SHORE headed to Lowell, NC to record the their first full-length, which was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Kevin Newland of Newland Recordings. Ghostwatcher, the band’s debut full-length, will be released on April 2, 2013. The first single, Half Lived, is available now on iTunes. Music, videos, and pre-orders are available now on metalblade.com/beyondtheshore.

Comments SHAI HULUD’s Matt Fox:

“The opportunity to tour Europe is not something we will ever take for granted. Before our first trip in 1999, the idea of touring another country was something only “real” bands did. We were kids, fanboys ripping off our favorite bands. All we ever wanted to do was try to make someone else feel something resembling what we felt when listening to the bands who inspired us. We never thought our name or music would get out of South Florida. Somehow it made it to Europe, and we graciously followed.

“Since 1999 we have now been to Europe countless times, having played some our most memorable, emotional, and altogether unbelievable shows there, across many different countries. Where we once had what some refer to as “fans,” we now have friends, some so close they are practically family. We cherish the relationships we have made in Europe: personal, musical, lyrical, and in most cases all of the above.

“In 2013 we are returning to Europe with Propagandhi, one of our all time favorite bands. This will be yet another extremely special tour we are fortunate enough to share with our European family. Young and not as young, faces new and familiar, we’re grateful to make new memories and rage with everyone soon!”

About Reach Beyond the Sun:
Reach Beyond the Sun, the fourth entry in SHAI HULUD’s storied catalog, will see its release in February of 2013.

Longtime bass player Mad Matt Fletcher asserts,

“Anyone who really knows the band will agree this album is our definitive sound, encompassing all of our different influences and styles.” He conclusively reiterates, “Yep, this sounds like Shai Hulud.”

Reach Beyond the Sun will be released on February 19 in North America, and February 15/18 in Europe.

About Reach Beyond the Sun:

Longtime bass player Mad Matt Fletcher asserts,

“Anyone who really knows the band will agree this album is our definitive sound, encompassing all of our different influences and styles.” He conclusively reiterates, “Yep, this sounds like Shai Hulud.”

Lyrically, Shai Hulud continues to evoke deeper thought, and a range of true human emotions practically unique to the band as the modern underground often shies away from depth for fear of the vulnerability of inner exposure.

Shai Hulud affirms “True strength is inviolate” in the song Monumental Graves, and introspectively queries “Is ours, indeed, a sunless path to waiting graves we prepare for ourselves?” and “Will we bring our hearts back to life?” in the songs I, Saturnine and A Human Failing, respectively, boldly turning their insides out.

Regarding A Human Failing, a song about a generation willing to turn numb in lieu of a life of pain and feeling, guitar player Matt Fox comments “It’s become ‘cool’ to be cold. No pun intended.”

In the interest of challenging misinterpreted notions of pessimism, the song Think The Adder Benign professes “No, I do not believe roses only bloom just to conceal the thorns. I merely accept the thorn pricked finger bleeds” while To Suffer Fools maintains the band’s active frustration and misanthropy, a trait by which Shai Hulud are notorious: “Pour the salts of acumen straight into the eyes to recondition the mind.”

In recording Reach Beyond the Sun, Shai Hulud welcomed the vocal talents of accomplished friends from throughout the hardcore community. Fans will note guest vocals from: Jay Pepito (Reign Supreme, Blacklisted) on A Human Failing, John Vigil (The Ghost Inside) on If A Mountain be My Obstacle, Louis Hernandez (Alpha & Omega) on Man Into Demon, all officially recorded former Hulud vocalists Matt Mazalli, Damien Moyal, and Geert van der Velde on Medicine to the Dead, as well as additional vocals throughout the album from the likes of Justin Krauss (With Life In Mind), Martin Stewart (Donnybrook, Terror), David Wood (Down To Nothing, Terror), among others.

Since the release of Misanthropy Pure in 2008, Shai Hulud has toured Europe, Southeast Asia, Canada, the US, and Mexico. Most recently, the band appeared at the Revelation Records 25th Anniversary shows, both in LA and New York. Plans are already beginning to unfold for 2013, beginning with Shai Hulud’s trek to Australia for the first time as part of Soundwave 2013, which also features Metallica, Blink 182, The Offspring, Slayer, and many more.

More plans are beginning to unfold in support of Reach Beyond the Sun, which will invariably see Hulud performing in front of more fans, new and old, than ever before.

Within Reach Beyond The Sun is found the glimmer of hope emerging as a keen perception of reality on a gridlocked battleground of grim pessimism versus unthinking optimism – a conflicting array of swirling thoughts and depth of emotion, honestly illustrating and defining the beauty and tragedy of the human experience. To the backdrop of progressive, metallic Hardcore/Punk, Shai Hulud is thinking and expressing in perpetual forward motion.

Onward and upward. Always. Forever.

Reach Beyond the Sun will be released on February 19th in North America, and February 15/18 in Europe.
