BIO:

No good could possibly come out of the frigid Northern lands of Alberta, you say? Well, sorry to tell you, there’s an exception to every rule. Enter smoldering power-thrash five-piece Edge of Attack.

Combining haunting vocals, shredding guitars, complex bass lines, furious drumming and choral and symphonic arrangements with surprising depth, Edge of Attack has not only taken the metal scene by storm, but also by surprise. Having been featured in Revolver magazine, you’d think the band has surely been around for years, but truth be told, they’ve accomplished all this while releasing no more than two singles.

Representing the changes that have taken place and the reinvention of Edge of Attack’s sound, the self-titled album, which was produced by guitarist/vocalist Jurekk Whipple himself and is soon to be released with Spread the Metal Records, is, simply put, a reawakening and rebirthing of power metal with thrash creeping its way into the picture.

ALL ELSE FAILS ‘Ass Tat’ Video

AEF (pictured top left to right) Barrett Klesko – lead vocals/guitar, Seedy Mitchell bass/backing vocals (bottom left to right) Shane Tym – drums, Mike Sands – guitar

Edmonton‘s favourite mischievous metallers ALL ELSE FAILS gave fans a mission last month, asking them to help AEF reach 10,000 likes on their Facebook fan page and in return drummer Shane Tym will get his ass tattooed.

The call was answered and the mission was accomplished as fans rushed and shared AEF’s fan page around the interweb like wild fire. Just a few days after reaching that 10,000 mark, Tym had bassist Seedy Mitchell’s face tattooed to his right cheek. These are true brothers in arms; check out the video at the following link below. (you will laugh and laugh hard!)

Destroy All Monsters

 JapanDestroy All Monsters (怪獣総進撃)1968

Marvelous, weird kaiju film — set in 1999, the narrator explains that all the world’s monsters have been gathered on Monster Island (WHAT A CLEVER NAME) where they are contained and observed. There’s an underground base where the scientists monitor the monsters.

Suddenly, an alien race attacks and takes over control of the monsters, as well as the minds of the personnel at the base. A cumbersome-looking spaceship is dispatched from the Moon to investigate. Eventually the “Kilaaks” introduce themselves and present their demands, basically a place to live on Earth. By this time, the monsters, under Kilaak control, have decimated most of the world’s major cities, so the aliens don’t get much of a hearing.

A Media Blasters DVD was released (at long last) in November of 2011 with the original Japanese version. It sold out quickly. It’s a pleasure to be able…
